2025-26 Game Thread: Knicks @ Heat

The Knicks are down two star players, but luckily, they literally kicked this exact team’s ass without Brunson and OG (well, most of the game without OG, and they kicked ass without him in the game).

Landry likely won’t be a superstar in this one, but the Heat have no one that can guard KAT, so the Knicks should still win this one. And luckily, the Mavericks are next, and they suck. The Knicks will eventually play some teams where OG’s absence will matter more, but that’s a future Knick problem!

Let’s go, Knicks!

58 would still be great!

I am worried about this game, mainly because it’s hard to beat Spo twice in a row. In other words I’d be more impressed by a win than disappointed by a loss.

From the last thread:

I think a no-shooting/defense/rebounding lineup of Deuce/Clarkson/Diawara or Dadiet/Hart/Mitch would be interesting. Get all of the offensive rebounds, try to run some low scoring stretches.

Then play a Deuce(or Kolek when he needs a rest)/Mikal/Shamet/Yabu/KAT and go all-in on shooting.

CLLYYYYYYDDDDDEEEEE!!!!

Since I’m in SoFl I get to watch the Heat feed 🙁

I’m quite interested in seeing how Brown handles the shorthandedness.

Saw an article about Tyson Chandler. It opened with, “Tyson Chandler may be remembered most fondly for being the emotional and spiritual leader for the Dallas Mavericks during their 2011 championship run, but the true foundation of his legacy as a rugged, hard-nosed defensive big man was built during his time with the New York Knicks.”

Uh, what the fuck? No, dude, the thing he is best known for, which happened before his Knicks’ tenure, IS the correct answer to that question about the “true foundation of his legacy.” What the fuck kind of shitty writing is that?!

Deuce/Shamet/Mikal/KAT/Mitch should be pretty solid defensively for the 15min Mitch can play

Brown took the previous thread’s recommendation of five minutes in the second quarter and said nah, one minute in the first.

Brunson was looking pretty good shooting around pregame maybe he can suit up for the 2nd half…

I had to check Fontecchio’s b-ref page to see if he’s shooting 75% from three because he never misses against us

Fontecchio is an all-Knicks Killer first team since Detroit, dude is a flamethrower against us.

I get why he’s not everyone’s cup of tea but Clarkson is currently one of my favorite minimum signings we’ve made in years. It’s a skill set we really were sorely lacking without him, warts and all.

I can only imagine what Patrick Ewing would have done if repeatedly single-teamed by the likes of Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Andrew Wiggins….

So now we test Marechal’s thesis that no Yabu is a problem is accurate.

In my defense, my point is that if they can’t use their mid level signing even when they are so short on players, that’s a big problem.

Can’t say enough good things about Mikal’s play this season.

Again, he must have really hated Thibs’ guts he’s like a completely different player

Hardly perfect, but so far a pretty solid example of what you hope happens with Brunson and OG out. Some extra Mikal initiation and Hart feistiness goes a long way.

Miami’s no screen offense certainly has its perks but looks flat tonight.

I think the zone has flummoxed them both games. Maybe that’s the counter that teams will go to now.

I mean they finally grab a lead and instead of taking control of the game they allow a shit ton of wide ass open 3s.

Yabu is decent on the ball, but he’s so damn slow that he can’t handle rotations. And he’s too short and ground-bound to be a 5.

I love that Shamet is leading the team in minutes tonight.

But wish he’d make a shot or two…

These Knicks apparently can’t win on the road and can’t win any game that isn’t a blowout. Good times….

Knicks will get screwed here. Hart had come away with the ball.

Awful shot by Deuce by the way.

Some questionable Deuce decision making for sure, but the one 3 notwithstanding, we lost because we got an unacceptable KAT game.

That Miami team is such bullshit.

Loss doesn’t mean as much without Brunson and OG. Some good stuff in the fake comeback (some good D when it counted, Hart’s o-reb) but still upsetting to watch overall.

Tough loss. They tried hard and had every chance, but they didn’t shoot well from 3 and were missing Brunson’s ability to close or make a bucket when you really need one. There’s no one else you can really trust down the stretch other than maybe Bridges. He should have had the ball more down the stretch instead of Deuce.

I think I would have tried for a 3 and the win on that last possession, especially vs what Deuce took, but Deuce kind of rushed a couple of times. No biggie.

He was saying Deuce should have taken his best shot – that lefty scoop was NOT it.

I liked going quick and they did end up with another chance.

It doesn’t shock me we didn’t get the same kind of performance from Towns or Shamet against SPO and the Heat on the road after just playing them. You know he’s going to adjust. I was hoping someone else would break out, but my Yabu prediction went out the window. 🤪🤪. It was almost the Deuce game, but not quite.

Kat is a low-IQ flailer. No ability to think the game, to outwit his opponent. It’s either he has it going or he doesn’t.

Deuce isn’t a point guard and never will be. He cant break down a defense at all. He is a 3 and d guard . Small off the ball player on offense

no way we lose that game with either one of jalen or og on the floor thats my best rationalization that i can come up with to feel ok about this game and this ending

Kolek with zero minutes . If he can’t play now he never will

We don’t have a backup PG that can run the offense. Kolek can, but he can’t score efficiently enough and is still suspect on defense.

Clarkson is a better 6th man scorer than Payne, but he’s even less of a PG.

That’s why I was hoping Brogdon had something left because he was exactly what we needed, but his body was done.

Maybe I’m nuts, but I still like Delon Wright for a few minutes in situations like this. He may be a bit washed but he run the offense a bit.

If Knicks lose on Wednesday it ain’t gonna be a fun couple of days afterwards for Mike Brown…

Delon Wright is somebody I would like to bring back

He would help this team on defense and he can run the position well enough. I was impressed with him last year when he got some minutes.

Kolek to me can create easier shoes for his team mates compared to Deuce. Kolek as a scorer is rough, but his passing can help others.

*not even giving him a 5 minute tryout , isn’t that what the reg season is for

Not going to knock the Raptors, but they aren’t playing anybody decent

Hornets?

Pacers?

i can definitely create easier shoes would anyone like a nice pair of loafers oh wait those are for yabu

Brown had two chances to call a TO, swap Hart with Clarkson to spread the floor, run a Mikal/KAT PnR and let Mikal make a decision to take the highest percentage shot the defense allows.

This is was far worse coaching that an average Thibs game.

I get some of you guys are upset about losing the 12th game of the season but having 2 starters out and saying that’s worse than anything Thibs is done is just outright silly
