2025 Playoff Thread: Knicks vs. Pistons, Game 2 – I’ll Defend This Place

The Knicks have to defend home court advantage tonight against the upstart Pistons, but after running away from the Pistons in the fourth quarter of Game 1, I don’t think the Knicks are too worried about doing so tonight.

Let’s go, Knicks!

15 wins left to go!

We survived their ambush in Game-1, now it’s time to blow them out of the water…

LET’S GO KNICKS! 👊🏼🏀🧡💙🧡🏀👊🏼

for some reason I thought we played tuesday…

not sure I’m emotionally prepared for the game…

not a bad crew on the call tonight…

I’ve only seen a few minutes of this series, but in that small sample the Pistons haven’t done anything but brick dunks.

This is my first time seeing Duren play, I’d heard he’d become good. He looks really good. Glad the Pistons made the playoffs.

Mikal open shot, brick— bad!
Mikal steal— good!
Mikal bad pass turnover— bad!

Needed that Bridges three. Wish they had shown the replay for that blocking foul

5 quarters in to this first round seres and things have been pretty even between the two teams for four out of those five quarters…

Very low BB-IQ quarter and bricking threes isn’t the best way to win games in 2025…

Knicks should start making some 3s instead of missing all of their attempts

they’re not listening

We like to start the game by losing the 1st quarter, right? Because that’s what happens most of the time.

Our shots ain’t bad
They’re just Not going in
Detroit’s D at the end of the Q was Real tho

Stayed with Bridges too long.
Played a lineup with neither Kat nor Towns
Not posting up Kat or getting him more involved early

What is Thibs doing out there?

I do enjoy a good old-fashioned big booty post-up, but there has got to be other ways to get some buckets

This is very much what what I was afraid of. In the regular season we beat them handily the first time we played, but they learned from it and beat us the rest of the regular season games. Now they lost the first playoff game against us and seemed to have learned what it takes to win in the playoffs

Problem 1. Defensive effort looks way below game 1 intensity and focus.

Problem 2. My kingdom for a bridges or a three

Not one Knick looks sharp out there … All our warts on display, all at once

I’m starting to look forward to end of this season. This team is way too frustrating to watch. Losing to this 3rd rate squad in the first round may be what we need to get Leon to make the necessary changes. It might be worth taking some short term pain just to get what needs to be done actually done. To have this much talent and play this dumb for stretches is quite an accomplishment.

I swear every time Bridges steals the ball he immediately throws the stupidest pass possible

man, wish I was watching this game on delay and I could fast forward through a bunch of this garbage…

LOL

Our play hasn’t been good but the reffing has been comically bad, which is also doing us no favors.

Absurd that Cade gets a friendlier whistle in his first playoff than Brunson in MSG

I’ve never seen a game where the home team has 0 FTs until the last 20 seconds of the first half.
And the Pistons are playing aggressive defense…

Felt like the refs called that foul because they realized how bad it would look for the Knicks to have no FTAs in the entire first half, surprised we’re not down by more

“And the Pistons are playing aggressive defense…”

We should be getting more calls, KAT and Brunson are getting mugged. That said, they are beating us to the spot and totally shutting down everything but iso for us with length and physicality. Most of the turnovers were either forced or due to trying too hard to beat their defense.

That said, we missed tons of good shots early on.

What is up with Thibs rotation and minutes distro ….seemed a bit random and reactive

Being down only 6 at halftime despite the 14-2 FTA disparity is a minor miracle. Knicks have to find a way to just win the game in the 2nd half by any means necessary.

Very bad game by the Knicks in this first half. Lots and lots of things went wrong on both sides of the ball. That was depressing to watch. One would think they are the inexperienced team, not the Pistons. They looked much better when KAT sat at the end.

The game was physical by both teams and the 14-2 f/t disparity against the home team is unacceptable.

That’s five of six quarters so far that they have looked like the better team. My first round exit prediction is looking pretty solid.

Offense is in a bad place right now. Detroit’s defense has shrunk the floor more vs Hart.

Knicks have to find a way to just win the game in the 2nd half by any means necessary

So far, they haven’t shown much that makes one think they deserve to win this game.

They’re down 6 at halftime solely because they’ve been outscored 13-2 from the FT line.

The Knicks are too slow getting set up, which makes it hard to run their offense.

Brunson should stop hunting for fouls: they’re not gonna whistle.

That’s why Bridges said he worked so hard on his fadeaway instead of driving to the basket and trying to draw fouls. You don’t get the same calls in the playoffs.

Blowout loss it is I guess. Too bad, this is the last year we’ll even be competitive against this team

This call can’t be real.
Clear path on a alley-oop?
Don’t let these refs get out of the building unscathed Knicks fans…

That is a strange call on the clear path too.

Don’t disagree with the foul but yeah

Ball don’t lie

Knicks playing with preseason energy right now, no sense of urgency whatsoever.

kat has no idea what verticality means

KAT is lost positionally. He does not know where to stand, when to go out and when to protect the paint. I can’t believe this lack of discipline by player of his caliber and experience.

Maybe the Kinicks deep down think they can sleepwalk through 3 quarters and then turn it on. Bad mentality.

Well cyber I’ve been bang on right about our overall prospects this year so that would be one reason.

In any case I’m pleased, it’ll be hard for Thibs to hang on to his job after a bed shitting like this. How do you keep going with Hart when his mere presence cripples our offense against every good team? How do you completely fail to play to KAT’s strengths?

Honestly, the biggest to lem in this game is our offense. We’ve scored 5: points and it’s half way through the third quarter. You can’t blame Bridges either. He’s scored 16 points on 12 shots.

Brunson is supposed to be the captain, playing super emotionally in the wrong way right now

Cam or Deuce to spell Brunson for a bit and hope that something gives.

Well cyber I’ve been bang on right about our overall prospects this year so that would be one reason.

Like the broken clock. And remember, this game isn’t over yet.

We have a way to solve the rebounding problem. He’s sitting on the bench.

That’s the play out of the timeout? The same thing that didn’t work like 100 times before that?

” Outhustled and outmuscled”-Clyde
Not scoring through contact, not scoring off turnovers, no runs-Knicks getting asses kicked.

lmao we have 4 points this might be the worst playoff quarter in NBA history. Anyone still doubting that this team is better than us?

Cyber this game is pretty over, c’mon man. At least acknowledge that I foresaw us being outmatched here

Every time we have a chance to build some traction we take a dumb shot, it’s maddening…

Well down 8 going into the 4th just like Game 1, hopefully history can repeat itself.

Gut check time, let’s see if this team has some fight. I can’t think the pistons are gonna allow another 21-0 run….

If Mitch can go for long stretches we should seriously think about moving Hart to the bench and playing twin towers. We look significantly better when he’s out there.

Cade gets a great whistle.

Meanwhile the pistons are hand checking and riding our guys all game.

Not over yet. But the bettors got this one wrong

KAT is Detroit’s biggest problem and Bickerstaff has somehow Jedi mind tricked Thibs into playing Mitch.

Pags you don’t actually “predict” shit. You just default to the most negative possible outcome, and that comes to pass sometimes. Sometimes it doesn’t. OG Anunoby supposed to be out for the season, remember that gem of medical analysis? We were supposed to lose Game 1 also.

That’s fine I guess that you do this dumb shit, but don’t pretend that it’s analysis. It’s an annoying coping mechanism that you inflict on all of us.

Knicks struggling offensively so they start the 4th with both Hart and Mitch in the game is certainly a choice.

Can we bring Lindor in?

Was just about to say that I can’t believe I’m missing Francisco Lindor kick the Phillies’ asses so I can watch this

I mean seriously Brunson dribbled for 21 secs before passing to Hart who barely hit rim on an open 3.

Arriving late to hear Clyde say (for the nth time), “There is not enough ball movement.”

Harris has the ball from 21 ft with the shot clock winding down so Hart doubles him leaving Schroeder open for 3. Fuck this game…

It’s hard to say how much of this is on Thibs and how much is on Brunson. He’s basically not running the offense.

I’m not saying it’s an egregious mistake because if you’re saying this you have way bigger problems, but would’ve liked to see some Shamet in the second half

Thibs picked a helluva time to coach his worst game ever as Knicks head coach.

KAT has melted under the spotlight. Four rebounds in 26 minutes with all these missed shots?

Maybe the Kinicks deep down think they can sleepwalk through 3 quarters and then turn it on.

Only 6:55 for them to turn it on… maybe this is not our night. 🙁

Thibs seemed to go away from the plan that won game 1 .

All the warts on display
JB ball hugging
Hart can’t shoot
OG O unreliable
Towns fouling and lack of aggressiveness
Thibs lack of adjustments and stubbornness … Where’s Payne, where’s shamet (yes they stunk but so did the starters)
Bridges inconsistency

Well Hubert, you’ve broken your KB fast with a clunker of a game I’m sorry to say.

And it’s not your fault, it’s Thibs

I was wondering when Thibs terrible coaching would cost us a game, didn’t realize it would be game 2. His entire strategize this half was let Brunson ISO ball and play starters to death. Did Payne do something wrong or does he have an injury? The rotations have been terrible and Hart is doing nothing to warrant court time. Bridges is shooting well but no lets bench him and keep paying Hart.

I fucking hate this lack of adjustments

I’ll just mention where we are with the Raven Secret — we have 14 assists. That ain’t 27.

KAT is Detroit’s biggest problem and Bickerstaff has somehow Jedi mind tricked Thibs into playing Mitch.

Welcome back Hubert. KAT’s been awful tonight, although I guess some of that can be on Thibs.

Bridges inconsistency

He’s been the best Knick on the floor. It’s a low bar, I know, but he’s the last guy to complain about.

Granted he was literally the last guy you complained about. But still.

Well, Diaz gave up a 3 run bomb, but the Mets still won. Now time for late Knicks rally.

I have a bad feeling that Brunson hurt himself when he reached in to foul Duren.

I’ve had a bad feeling ever since I saw Fat Joe sitting behind Thibs. Did we learn nothing from the World Series?

Schroeder missing that wide open corner dagger 3pter has kept the Knicks in the game.

lol Bridged missed every shot he took after I defended him, and they were all huge

And again we let Schroeder open…

And fuck Mikal Bridges, tonight he missed EVERYTHING in the clutch.

It’s hard for me to believe that after the most boring 50-wins campaign ever we still look so many times like the players just met for the training camp.

No matter how this series will end, Thibs should go.

Payne and Shamet 0 points each didn’t help, but then again they barely got on the court.

Bah. Would’ve been nice to complete the comeback… if the Knicks lose in the first round, Thibs has to get fired, right?

Thibs is getting absolutely grilled on social media for his lack of use of Towns. How do you not get him shot attempts??

The Knicks use Jalen Brunson like he’s on the 2001 76ers. For as much as Allen Iverson was jacking, I think he’d utilize KAT a bit more than this.

Lack of system

Knicks missed open shots and the iso ball Brunson offense in the 3rd and 4th doomed us. Bridges hits one of those open 3s in the 4th we might have pulled it off…

Thibs needs to explain the non Payne minutes because having another ball handler can help negate the defensive pressure. And this offense needs a plan B then pray Brunson can bail us out. Towns and OG were barely involved

There’s a lot going on here but the most indefensible thing to me is that KAT has only 1 3P FG in 2 games.

I think Detroit has tricked Thibs into thinking it’s 90s basketball so you have to use your Center accordingly.

Towns shot TWO three point attempts. What is the point of having that guy if he shoots 2 three point attempts?

Malpractice.

Thibs needs to explain the non Payne minutes because having another ball handler can help negate the defensive pressure. And this offense needs a plan B then pray Brunson can bail us out. Towns and OG were barely involved

Remember when people said Thibs was saving plays for the playoffs? He has no playbook. It’s the same every game. The Knicks need a Steve Kerr or Rick Carlisle that wants ball movement. Thibs iso isn’t it.

Love JB but him giving up that 3 to Schroeder by not being aware is almost unforgivable … rough loss but deserved.

Towns shot TWO three point attempts. What is the point of having that guy if he shoots 2 three point attempts?

Malpractice.

Never gets the ball and never plays in any 5 out lineups. He was utilized better next to Gobert

Payne did pick up 3 fouls in 4 minutes, so I guess that got him locked in the doghouse.

that one was more painful than just the L. jalen flinging himself at pistons all game desperate to make a zebra smile. kat all but absent on both ends. wings set to mild. giving up the og switch off cade for far too long. never got creative on offense. they had no stewart and bricked out from 3.

I agree Thibs should go regardless because I want a coach who can develop a bench and have the guts to switch out players when starters are ineffective. And change an offense when it’s in a drought.

This team keeps digging holes and doesn’t look for another solutions than save us Brunson.

Well…we may suck a bit but at least we’ll have more excitement…

I want to like Bridges, but I’m pretty sure he missed four shots in a row in the last five minutes.

And yeah, we have that KAT guy.

The Detroit late game execution is horrendous.

I still think we’re better but sadly I feel like the two teams have the same ceiling in these playoffs.

Wide open shots for Mikal too.

I have seen way more than enough of that guy

I understand tonight everyone is pissy and married to their narrative, but for tonight’s game Bridges> OG> Hart >>>KAT and it ain’t even close.

Wide open shots for Mikal too.

I have seen way more than enough of that guy

Mikal was really good tonight for 3 quarters but I couldn’t help but think of Round 1, game 2, last year, when Donte made the shot Mikal missed tonight.

Towns didn’t play well,
but so far Brunson has 54 shots in the series, KAT has 25.

Thibs has been terrible, our offense is high-school level and Brunson should ask Clyde some tips about how to involve your teammates and sacrifice your numbers for the good of the team.

The extreme physicality of the game bothered the Knicks way much more than the Pistons. Valued effort in the fourth, and it helped that the refs finally started calling some fouls. The Pistons almost gave the game away again. That killer Schroeder 3-pointer should have never been allowed. Schroeder is too experienced. Oh well. It shouldn’t have come down to the last seconds, and that is the Knicks big problem. The Knicks have to change a lot of things moving forward.

While folks are deservedly piling on Mikal for 19 points on 18 shots:
KAT: 10 points on 11 shots, 0-2 from 3
OG: 10 points on 10 shots, 0-4 from 3
Payne: 0-0, 0 points
Deuce: 8 points on 7 shots
Mitch: 0 points

This was a team loss. We have to match their intensity from the opening tip. Threw the ball all over the court and couldn’t hit a shot. Didn’t happen tonight.

KAT played like shit that’s mostly on him. He couldn’t figure out how to score on Tobias Harris

Thibs has instilled in Brunson to be a chucker. Towns being used like has no offensive talent.

Scoring 94 points against a good but in no sense great defense (11th overall) is brutal.

This is why I said a few weeks ago I didn’t want to play Detroit in the 1st rd, Knicks are in a no win situation. Even if Knicks still win this series which they most likely will unless they win the next 3 games there’ll be nothing positive to take from this series.

KAT sucked against Jalen Duren and Paul Reed, and was effectively guarded by Tobias Harris.

Oh, and he fucking sucked on D.

Please, stans, explain that to me.

I want to believe but this roster and this coach have no business as a championship contender , my lying eyes have seen enough. We do so much damage to ourselves it’s unbelievable ….

This is why I said a few weeks ago I didn’t want to play Detroit in the 1st rd, Knicks are in a no win situation. Even if Knicks still win this series which they most likely will unless they win the next 3 they’ll be nothing positive to take from this series.

Does this team look like they will win even 1 game from Boston. The coach is getting exposed big time, so it’s not a no win situation.

KAT sucked against Jalen Duren and Paul Reed, and was effectively guarded by Tobias Harris.

Can Brunson the chucker get him the ball

Towns didn’t play well,
but so far Brunson has 54 shots in the series, KAT has 25.

Good stat

If you are crying about Jalen Brunson being a chucker you should just go to bed. lmao. It sucks, we lost a bad game, it happens.

Monica McNutt was about to shred Wally’s “analysis” and her mic got cut. Hurts more than the L tbh.

The whole point of KAT and to a lesser extent Bridges is that you can vary the offense. We don’t need Brunson hero ball on every possession. Thibs never recognized that he had a new team and needed to evolve the offense.

Brunson is not a chucker and Towns needs to be used more effectively can both be true.

Did we just give up on setting high screens like every other team in the NBA? Brunson was going one one on one the whole 4th quarter with the other guys just standing around.

It’s easy to play defense against that bullshit.

Even if Knicks still win this series which they most likely will

BBL, are you sure about this? We watched two games already. We could have been down 0-2 right now. This roster is what it is, the bench is what it is, KAT is who he is, and so on. Prey that Thibs pulls a rabbit out of his hat.

“Z-man where were the KAT haters after Game 1?”

Glad you’re ok with his performance tonight. It’s not like we needed our “legit candidate for MVP” as someone called him earlier on to show up against the scrubs that defended him or anything.

A guy making $50M a year should never have a night where he has zero points in a half against a team missing its best interior defender. There’s no excuse for it, especially with hardly any shots.

Brunson is playing a little too selfishly for me. There were a few times he missed KAT wide open for a 3 and he forced some early clock 3s. It’s easy to play defense when everyone else is ignored. And every team will play off Hart until he is willing to be aggressive on offense.

It’s funny because I’m a Real Madrid fan and see so many similarities between them and the Knicks. New superstar to team fucks with chemistry (Mbappe – KAT), old coach is stubborn in tactics and lineup setup (Ancelotti – Thibs), does not play young, exciting players – only veterans, and can’t beat big teams. Sigh…

Did we just give up on setting high screens like every other team in the NBA? Brunson was going one one on one the whole 4th quarter with the other guys just standing around.

It’s easy to play defense against that bullshit.

That was the 4th quarter offense all season. Eventually the players know whats coming.

I think the players are feeling what we are feeling. The oddball doctrinaire coach, the terrible playoff rotations, the lack of real teamwork – it’s a big inconsistent mess. I don’t remember a playoff run where I have had less enthusiasm.

Please, stans, explain that to me.

Not a stan but he has a certain group of skills that have value when utilized.

Every time the defend him with a player like undersized Harris he should run directly to the post and post him up. When the double team comes pass the ball and get the defense in scramble mode.

If he doesn’t go to the post and demand the ball, Thibs should yank him til he does. You have to force Detroit out of that strategy.

Frustrating night but a 34-19 FT disadvantage at home in a physical game is really the story. That clear path foul was really something special. 50% of fouls at the rim might technically meet that criteria.

We use KAT like he’s a 1980’s big booty power forward. Yes, he stunk in this game, but he’s the best 3PT shooting big in NBA history and we’re not even attempting to utilize that skill.

“Not a stan but he has a certain group of skills that have value when utilized.”

That’s the description of a role player, not an MVP candidate.

Thibs in the presser called out the f/t discrepancy. He is 100% correct.

He is correct and Detroit played defense with LT, Harry Carson, Carl Banks, Gary Reasons and Pepper Johnson. Then a member of the press should hold up a full length mirror for him to look into.

We use KAT like he’s a 1980’s big booty power forward. Yes, he stunk in this game, but he’s the best 3PT shooting big in NBA history and we’re not even attempting to utilize that skill.

A full season and the coach and players don’t know how to use him still.

Our offense should be really simple. KAT screen for Brunson. Pop or roll. Make a pass, penetration, or shot based on the defensive move. Just dribbling around for 20 seconds isn’t going to win many games.

“Threw the ball all over the court”

But not to each other. Fifteen assists is no bueno.

We also had 14 turnovers, but the Pistons had 15.

Since we’re talking numbers like 14 and 15, they took 15 more foul shots.

We actually jacked up a decent number of threes (35), but only made 28%. Of course the Pistons shot 22% from three. And we still couldn’t beat them.

Every time the defend him with a player like undersized Harris he should run directly to the post and post him up.

It feels like that’s what they’re baiting him into doing bc he can be far more impactful shooting from 3, and we’re taking the bait hook line and sinker.

Yes Rough the Knicks will still win this series but it’s not gonna be something to brag about obviously.

Agree brunsonperoneous, but towns also has to get his butt in the post and demand the ball instead of hanging out at the 3 point line on the weakside and watching … He’s an all star starter … which other NBA all star starter is doing that? He’s way too passive …and dear I say it …. Nice?

There is and has only ever been one Thibs play: 1guy with ball drives to basket and passes out to 2guy when defense comes. Even KAT is now putting the ball on the floor, barreling to the hoop like a drunk giraffe, and “spraying the ball” when the help D comes. It is all awful to watch, easy to defend, and demoralizing for 3/5 guys all night long standing around *even when one of our shooters is making threes.

The Knicks 5 man lineup was the most played lineup in the NBA during the regular season so it’s had plenty of time to work stuff out.

“We use KAT like he’s a 1980’s big booty power forward. Yes, he stunk in this game, but he’s the best 3PT shooting big in NBA history and we’re not even attempting to utilize that skill.”

It’s KAT’s job to get open or create shots. If he can’t create his own 3pt shots, he’s not worth anywhere near $50M a year. And if he sucks on defense when his shots aren’t falling, never mind when he can’t even get his shots off, you ain’t ever gonna be a contender with him eating up 35% of the salary cap.

And certainly not when you have one, count’em, one legit shot creator in the lineup on the floor with him. OG can’t create. Joah can’t create. Mikal is a huge disappointment in that area. But none of those guys are making $50M a year. If KAT can’t consistently create his own shot, this lineup will never work. No excuses.

There was a possession in the 4th quarter where both KAT and OG were standing next to each other on one end of the court with there hands out not knowing what to do, that perfectly summed up tonight’s game.

Macri just threw Brunson in the blender

“If you ask me, I’m taking Cade rest of this series. He is processing the game much better than Brunson”.

That’s the description of a role player, not an MVP candidate.

I don’t think an guy who is clearly the best 3 point shooting big in history and a 23/11 guy for 22000 minutes can be reasonably or accurately be characterized as a “role guy”.

And what moron classifies him as an actual MVP candidate? He has never finished in the top 10 in MVP voting.

You want to say he’s overpaid… sure. But what genius has him spend the entire game 26 feet from the basket when he is being guarded by a much smaller man who he dominates physically?

15 minutes for Payne

Best 2 man combo from the game 1 for the Knicks was Payne and OG.

Also why trade for Towns if you don’t use 5 out lineups?

When the trade was made all you heard was the spacing on the court, but that’s not happening at all. Hart negates that.

“We use KAT like he’s a 1980’s big booty power forward.”

MVP candidates don’t get “used” by coaches. Jokic, SGA, Tatum, Giannis, Luka, Curry, Spida, Brunson, Cade, Kawhi, Jimmy, LeBron, Durant, Harden…they don’t get used by coaches. They do their thing. KAT has to get his, no matter what. If he can’t, plus can’t make up for it on D, he’s vastly overpaid.

Macri is a failed personal injury lawyer why am I supposed to care about his basketball analysis

KAT was 0-3 for 0 points in the second half.

Is that on KAT? Thibs? Brunson? idk but that can’t happen anymore in this series

KAT has to get his, no matter what.

Pretty hard when your team mates don’t pass the ball.

Also Kat is a big, none of those Guys outside of the best player in the NBA (Jokic) is a center .

It feels like that’s what they’re baiting him into doing bc he can be far more impactful shooting from 3, and we’re taking the bait hook line and sinker.

I’d be happy to take that bait 🙂

Someone said it is his job to create the 3 point opportunities for himself. He’s 7 foot 250+. He isn’t out quicking Harris to get his shot off from 3 unless they run some actions to free himself up. His skill is executing the 3 point shot at a high rate. It is up to the coach to utilize his skill set.

Z-man 12 of the 14 guys you just listed are wing players who always have the ball in their hands.

“We use KAT like he’s a 1980’s big booty power forward.”

If only we had KAT posting up, calling for the entry pass. It might now work, but, as Walter Sobchak might say, “at least it’s an ethos.” Instead, this:

There was a possession in the 4th quarter where both KAT and OG were standing next to each other on one end of the court with there hands out not knowing what to do, that perfectly summed up tonight’s game.

How about they set a high screen for KAT as the ball handler? He’s top 10 ppp on drives and an excellent passer and good ball handler for his size.

How about they try 5 out w Deuce for Hart?

How about they run 10 more JB / KaT pick n pops per game?

Always Look at the bright side:
We’ll see adjustments in the next one!
[Probably]

How about they run 10 more JB / KaT pick n pops per game?

That’s like asking Thibs to invent the wheel.

This series is preposterous.

I’ve been endlessly harping on our weakness being the defense due to Towns and Brunson. Never in my wildest imagination did I think offense could be a problem on this team.

We have the better player at every starting position. If you want to argue Cade is better than Brunson, it’s not worth an argument because it’s not nearly enough to make up for the rest of our edge.

We are struggling with this 3rd rate pretender because our offense is dysfunctional. We dribble endlessly, no one is moving strategically, we run almost no plays and the ball doesn’t move. It’s mind boggling. A guy like D’Antoni would average 130 points with this talent. Most of that is on Thibs, but some of that is on Brunson. It’s not Towns, OG or Bridges. They are suffering because the offense is so dysfunctional.

No matter how this series ends, Thibs HAS TO be fired.

How about they set a high screen for KAT as the ball handler? He’s top

10 ppp on drives and an excellent passer and good ball handler for his size.

How about they try 5 out w Deuce for Hart?

How about they run 10 more JB / KaT pick n pops per game?

Yup. Pretty obvious things to do with a player like KAT. Still amazing how low his 3 attempts are. How the hell is it possible when he isn’t next to Gobert anymore.

Watch Rick Carlisle

Watch Steve Kerr

Watch any coach who requires passing and player movement. This is an outdated offense

The league does not want Detroit in and The NY metropolitan area market out. Expect the game to be officiated much differently in Detroit.

Watch any coach who requires passing and player movement. This is an outdated offense

I’m not sure outdated is the right word. It’s brain damaged.

I expect that we will rebound from this performance and play better in game 3. I don’t think we could have played much worse (or them much better) and it was still a 2-pt game in crunch time.

What’s the odds on this series now?

The Knicks have been outplayed in 6 of 8 quarters and had a Cam Payne mini explosion to save them…

Macri just threw Brunson in the blender

“If you ask me, I’m taking Cade rest of this series. He is processing the game much better than Brunson”.

Cade had 21 points on 21 shots in game 1 with 6 turnovers. And got totally outplayed by Brunson in the 4th quarter

I generally like Macri but give me a fucking break man.

Zman I don’t think the pistons played that well. Beasley and hardaway arent gonna miss that many OPEN 3 pointers at home …

Are we more talented? Yes
Are we playing better? No
Why?
I can think of many reasons…
Will we win the series?
idk

Also with all the bricks tonight why not use Mitch Rob for more second chance opportunities…

LAC/Den is high level basketball. This Denver interim coach is running plays and he just got the job …

This Denver coach thinks Nikola Jokic should take 6 shots in 3 quarters he might be the dumbest coach in NBA history

Ain’t just a “difficult” washed journeyman.
He was the leader and the MVP of the Fiba World Gold medalist Germany in 2023.
Remember me wanting him here …?
Like Bogdanovic or Dragic they may be role players in Nba but in Europe they’re Super Heroes and they can Turn it On whenever possible.

Jokic has taken 6 threes in 3 quarters of play tonight.

Dope

** make it 7 in the early 4th

It’s weird, this series reminds me a bit of the Knicks/Pistons, in that there are so many great players on the court, but I don’t know that I would worry about either of these teams if I was one of the top teams in the league.

Jokic just blatantly flopped. Isn’t there a rule saying you can’t flop?

Didn’t silver implement a new rule that flopping equals a tech..

That’s what I thought, too.

Yeah, looking at the rules, it’s supposed to be a T, and, well, I certainly wouldn’t expect it to be called late in a playoff game, but boy, it was still a blatantly obvious flop by Jokic. Harden bumping him sends the giant Jokic flying? Suuuuuuure, buddy.

My prediction is that the Clippers will win the series and that Denver is the next team after Memphis to unravel moving forward. Outside Jokic, that roster has never been great.

Malone was not their problem. Neither is their current interim coach, no matter how inexperienced, although an imbecile suggested we should hire him because he can’t be worse than Thibs.

Fields, Malone, and Jenkins all fired. None of them a net negative, all of them capable, perhaps even excellent at what they’ve done.

In related news, I just realized that I know Nico Harrison. It was a long time ago. But still, just being in the same room as me should be grounds for dismissal. The NBA is upside down right now.

Cade had 21 points on 21 shots in game 1 with 6 turnovers. And got totally outplayed by Brunson in the 4th quarter

Cade was 11/21 for 33 points. That’s the most efficient stat line from either so far.

Got a feeling Leon is going to make some big decisions by the 3rd of May at the latest

As bad as we were at times tonight, there’s no world in which a Pistons team with no real star (yet) should get 15 more FTs than us in our house.
