2025-26 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Kevin Durant’s Burner Phone (and the Rockets, I Guess)

The Knicks host the original burn book himself, Kevin Durant, and the Houston Rockets, for an interesting matchup between the Knicks and one of the better teams in the Western Conference!

Let’s go, Knicks!

Just please let me feel great about 58!

Okay, got the Valentine’s Day Knicks sweatshirt on this time, no way we lose.

Jose-Jose!

LFGK!

Speaking of lurve, I swear Ben Stiller is sitting next to Christy Turlington. Presume lucky seating arrangement…

Still seems to be married to Ed Burns. And it was probably someone else anyway…

Cyber, I mean yes, but they’ve really stopped calling the shoulder into the chest to knock the defender away. Unless you knock them down and/or into the stands it’s really not called anymore.

Looks like Cristy to me.

Like what the Knicks are showing, although they have thrown a few points away

Looking forward to the point in the season when Mike Brown stops experimenting with weird lineups…

Yeah only being up 6 when Knicks outshot Houston 55% to 35% seems disappointing but gotta like Knicks effort and energy so far.

Good defensive first quarter, particularly the first six minutes. We matched up tight and made them feel us, contested most shots, and made them hurry and worry. Shengun was neutralized, and there were only few breakdowns. Durant got lose a few times, but not many. There’s still a lot of game left but we started fine.

You should stop watching the Nets, BBA. Knicks with 4 turnovers in the half, and 16 assists so far. We got cold there the last few minutes from three and they got hot. Welcome to the NBA.

I have a coworker who moved down here from BK a few years ago and is a huge Nets fan, all he does is complain Nets don’t lose enough.

Brunson makes some of the dumbest turnovers. We are playing better when he’s not on the floor. I think his floor game has been poor the last couple of games

Poor second quarter performance down the stretch. Silly fouls, open threes, holes in the paint, and bad offensive possessions leading to transition baskets. Defensive discipline went down the drain. 33 Rockets points is a lot. The team psychology has changed but they need to get it together. They can’t lose again!

There needs to be a conversation about removing Hart from the starting lineup.

I mean they are playing the same starting lineup that people killed Thibs for and it’s crickets now

When Josh Hart is this useless on both ends, you need to bench. Thibs played him too much because he brought “intangibles” but as it was proven in the playoffs, too much Josh Hart is not good for this team

They can’t lose again!

Oh, yes, they can! Down ten now. Good luck making a comeback against this Rockets team.

I’d love sooo much to be wrong, but this is not the Knicks I loved the past five years. Sigh.

Does Towns have something mentally wrong with him? He does the same thing constantly and gets called for the offensive foul

Rebounding 38-21 Rockets right now. It was even after the first quarter. The Rockets are playing volleyball under the baskets.

Mike Brown rotations are awful. Can’t find the right mix. You are allowed to sub Brunson when he plays this bad. Idk when he has to play whole quarters.

Right now the coach and the Nova connection can’t seem to play against strong defensive teams. It’s a problem

It’s very easy for a good defensive team when you play Josh Hart

In the past I’ve said it in jest and basically just to add to my negative game thread shtick but I’m honestly beginning to wonder if the only thing that could salvage this Knicks season is firing Mike Brown.

Brown isn’t getting fired . The season is almost over and a new coach has to bring in a new system ?

‘Not much offense on the floor with Sochan, Shamet, Mitch Diawara and Brunson.’

And Brunson might be the weak link in that lineup tonight…

Wow that was bad. Why is Brunson bringing up the ball when Jose is out there? It wastes huge amounts of time, it wastes energy, and Amen just takes it away.

And when Mitch blows a dunk, all bets are off.

This is embarrassing. No fight and no adjustments. This quarter will say a lot about the coach and the players.

no adjustments.

This isnt new . I don’t think I’ve seen one game where the coach has adjusted anything . I guess he is keeping it around for the playoffs

No Brunson and Hart. Back in it. Now watch they get reinserted and we end up losing.

Unbelievable Rockets collapse in the fourth after being up 18. They played like high school kids down the stretch. Who cares! I can’t believe we won this one but a win is a win is a win! Let’s hope it will help building up confidence. The Knicks have a very tough schedule until mid March.

Jose Alvarado changed the entire game. I will give kudos to Brown benching Hart and eventually Bridges in the 4th. I guess that’s an adjustment?

I will give kudos to Brown

Sure. Give also kudos to Udoka and the Rockets for their lovely performance the last six-eight minutes, will you? 😂😂😂

Watched it. Jose was incredible. Shamet hit a couple big shots. Jalen drew two charges and obviously had some huge buckets.

Great team win

Was it more of a Rocket choke job? Sure, but come the fuck on, that was fucking AWESOME! What an amazing win!

After the Lez Zeppelin thing we got back to the car just in time for the last 5 minutes of the game, made the 1:15 drive back home a lot more enjoyable!

PS the concert was lots of fun, all 4 ladies were very, very talented, although too many extended jams for my liking. The lead singer sounded a lot like the Heart lead singer. At 67 I felt right at home in the crowd, maybe on the younger side!

In the last 5 minutes, JB went 4 for 4 from field + two charges drawn. Captain closed better than KD tonight. Udoka not calling time outs while his team was unravelling and struggled to get into offensive sets is moronic. This new data driven strategies of not calling TOs and letting players figure it out with a tied one posession game is fucking stupid.

What a comeback win….Lets Go!

Udoka and Mazzulla seem very similar (obviously, Mazzulla was Udoka’s assistant coach, so that makes sense) in that they game plan the SHIT out of games, and, really, it’s amazing the way that they are able to coach up certain players.

However, once the game actually starts, if shit goes wrong, they don’t seem to know how to adjust. The craziest thing to me is that Mazzulla typically CALLS COOL PLAYS OUT OF TIMEOUTS. Yet he just doesn’t use them like a loser.

That’s why Spo rules over everyone. He gameplans like crazy, but he also knows how to manage the game itself when shit goes wrong. It doesn’t mean he will pull rabbits out of a hat with a shitty team, but he at least doesn’t crumble under pressure.
