2025-26 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Heat

The Brunson-less Knicks host the similarly beat-up Heat at the Garden tonight, and since both teams are missing key guys, this should be a nice and even matchup that I would really like to see the Knicks pull out because, well, you know, fuck the Heat.

Let’s go, Knicks!

58 would still be great!

It will be interesting to see Deuce nominally at PG, even if Mikal will probably do most of the ball handling in the starting 5. I assume we’ll see more Clarkson (gasp).

It’s crazy how Spo completely revamped their offensive system.

Not a fan of that floor. It’s very pretty, but it’s hard to watch the Knicks, especially as they’re in black.

That was a hideous horrible first two minutes. Deuce playing like Bad Brunson, just dribbling until the time is up.

Deuce is not a PG. Off the ball player who needs an actual PG

Defense should improve sans Brunson , but major drop in offense

Mitch and KAT will save us…

Hopefully separately, as they did not look together there without Brunson. KAT on Wiggins doesn’t make much sense, especially if he’s not attacking him on the other side of the floor.

Getting badly outplayed for the most part. Our perimeter defense consists of “maybe they’ll just miss”

Mitch has three fouls and KAT is working really really hard out there. Gonna have to dip into that Huk/Yabu bucket

It went off the fallen Knick’s foot out of bounds. Morons.

They’ll win the challenge.

It’s really hard to guard this offense. It’s so unique.

Edit: letting Jaquez dribble unimpeded to the basket is not hard though.

I’m trying to decide if I hate Miami more than the Celtics. I know, sacrilege. But it’s mighty close.

Here i am. I had to go “rescue” Lady Cyber at the city center because there’s a storm here today and Uber drivers refuse to come this far. How are we looking?

Why is Shamet handling the ball? He’s awful at it. This is a Kolek game as Knicks need a good ball handler.

It just looks like we don’t really have a prayer of getting a defensive stop based on playing sound defense. Occasionally the other team misses a shot, and that’s the extent of the “defense.” Without OG the defense looks really hapless.

I’ve just arrived and already agree with you.

Tough whistle but I like the effort this group has been putting in. Doing some scrappy work with that zone

so nice to hear an announcer say our zone is giving another team trouble…

yep, the new york knicks just scored almost 80 points in a single half…

it’s a different world these days…

Huk got 2 seconds!!

Can’t believe I missed it.

On the other hand, Clarkson had 13 pts in 13:44 minutes. Never living that one down..

Knicks up 78-68 at halftime, final score of Game 5 when Allan Houston hit the game winner was 78-77.

That was a crazy half of basketball.

Miami’s high tempo no picks no screens offense is really interesting. It would be great if Mitch could give us some time without fouling in the second half.

I like that KAT has decided, “Yeah, they can’t guard me.”

Good for you, KAT!

Knicks played zone again in their first defensive possession, didn’t matter as the Heat hit a contested 3.

It would be nice not to have the opponent double your number of FTAs.

Edit: lol even when they are foiled shooting they don’t get FTs.

Knicks gave up an open corner 3 and an offensive rebound when the Heat were playing with only 4 guys.

If Knicks lose this fucking game to this scrub ass gimmick bullshit Heat team they should forfeit rest of the season.

Epsn front page: towns on fire in first half.
And if course he hasn’t score in the 3rd quarter, and only taken 2 shots

Guess Knicks coaches of all persuasions don’t like the hot hand.

@Raven, I think it was on that last free throw of the half as a rebounder. So technically 1.7 seconds

The amount of non-foul fouls called on the Knicks is insane. They are making it so obvious. Do Cup games cause variance in betting? Is that why the refs are being bought?

It doesn’t look like the Knicks have ever practiced the zone they are playing. Heat can get an open three with two simple passes most times.

Good game for Clarkson tonight. He’ll shut me up for awhile if he keeps playing like this.

I mean the general point of playing zone is to keep teams out of the paint and force them to shoot 3s which is why for most part zones in the NBA don’t work cause teams just shoot so much better than they do in college.

The refs actually hesitated before calling the most obvious foul in history on Wiggins

Something fucked up is going on

Two of our biggest question marks this season (Landry and Clarkson) have 22 and 21 points so far…

The argument for Clarkson was that we needed the shot creation when Brunson wasn’t on the floor.

Well, there it is.

Guess Knicks coaches of all persuasions don’t like the hot hand.

It’s because we’re concerned about climate change – hot is bad. 😀

Shamet is becoming one of my favorite players on the team. And weirdly- I don’t have an issue with that lol. From afar, I’ve never been a fan of his game, but it looks like he’s leveled his game up. Just so much fun to root for

Tim Hardaway used to always blame the refs after the Knicks would eliminate them in the playoffs.

Knicks bench produced 73 pts 😮

I think last season our bench scored 73 points for the entire month of November

My only concern after this game besides OG’s injury is Bridges might’ve fucked up his release again.

I think last season our bench scored 73 points for the entire month of November

Probably! LOL

We won the game but the way that game was officiated was super fishy. Those two delay of games on us were dubious (especially the second on the foul line) and free throw discrepancy didn’t feel right. I thought there were so many fouls called on us for nothing.

Our defense stink with OG but without OG it’s atrocious. At least Shamet is an upgrade on defense over Brunson. Now if he can only score 30 every night we should be ok. 😜

This was an excellent win given we were missing two starters, but one can’t expect the Shamets of the world to play out of their mind every game. Most of the time, our defense is between poor and non-existent. This is unacceptable. The faster we fix this problem, the better. Don’t expect a deep postseason run without good defense.

That was a great win and I kind of don’t mind Blake and Dirk. It’s a different vibe for sure but they don’t annoy me.

I was listening to the radio last month and was positive I heard that Knick Bavetta was going to be the starting pitcher in an NLDS game. Suddenly I was a 22 year old sitting in Loge58D again, wearing my orange and blue underwear. I even tuned into that baseball game later that day to see how the old man did, and was disappointed to find his name was Pavetta and “Knick” was spelled without the silent K. Boo.

thought taylor rooks was doing great as host on nba prime, ’til I saw mj acosta-ruiz hosting: the association, on nba tv…

mj had previously done nfl stuff, glad she’s working with the nba now…still enjoy watching/listening to taylor, just very impressed with miss full-grown mj…

Missed the entire game, great win, kudos to all for a lively game thread! Just watched extended highlights. My impressions

KAT was a destructive demonic force.
Landry was FEELIN’ IT!!!
Clarkson’s game is like a fine reggae song…
Hart triple-doublin’…ultimate glue guy.

Any word on the severity of OG’s injury?
