2024-25 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Wizards – Winning Streak Time, Baby!

Technically, they’re already on a winning streak, but we all know a winning streak doesn’t actually feel like a streak until it hits three games, and since the Wizards fucking suck, it should hit three tonight, which will also give them a nice buffer over .500.

So yeah, don’t love the back-to-back, but otherwise, thank you, scheduling gods!

Let’s go, Knicks! I feel great about 58!

Great opportunity here to eclipse the Bulls game as the worst loss of the season!

It’s not really “stealing” if we didn’t really want Moses Brown, anyway.

Personally, I wanted to roster him.

I love how guys who have obviously done zero research and who clearly have no idea what they are talking about love to weigh in on those things. Guess it’s the times we live in.

Nestled in my seat here in the garden….I don’t recognize many of the guys on the wiz…

Congrats Bidi! LFGK! Take care of these scrubs and make this a boring blowout.

Brown, who I like, was in Westchester… but the “stole” comment was a little tongue-in-cheek (I always forget half this board is on the spectrum, so I’ll be 100% literal next time.)

I would read a deep dive on the history of Josh Hart’s jump shot. His reputation in his draft was as a gunner!

If I did a shot for every time Bridges took the ball to the basket, I’d be …completely sober?

This has to be the best offensive Knicks team in my lifetime if not ever. I know the 2013 and 2023 teams finished 3rd in offensive efficiency but they were kinda unique teams. I don’t really remember the Pitino Bomb Squad team even though I know they were somewhat revolutionary with their 3pters and full court press.

OG has been so strong inside this season. He really seems to have worked on aggressively getting to the rim despite his handle staying mostly the same.

If you vow to have sex every time he attempts a free throw you might end up celibate for life.

That’s just what happens when you play 5 out. No way he scores this much with Mitch dragging a C into the paint

The other night I was out at a bar and met some other big Knicks fans. I casually mentioned that I thought KAT was at least arguably the most talented offensive player we’ve had in my lifetime. They proceeded to scream at me about Carmelo Anthony in a borderline socially unacceptable fashion, so I dropped it. I still think I was right though.

So… how is ruruland doing?

Yeah, I agree that OG is taking advantage of all the space better than everyone else. That’s part of why he’s getting to the rim and dunking so much lately. You would think it would have helped Brunson also, but I guess defenses are so focused on Brunson it’s tougher for him.

Can you imagine if we had to root for a team lead by Kyle kuzma and Jordan Poole

Hell can’t be much worse.

how i met your mother

“Leon is an idiot for trading the 23rd pick in the 2023 draft for Josh Hart” is something you don’t hear so often anymore

Dadiet is starting to look like he has the potential to be a lot more than just a good rotation player. Lots of guys show flashes of scoring ability early on and then never go anywhere, but he’s showing flashes of defense also.

In the fullness of time, who here would hire Josh Hart to coach the Knicks?

I love all his “rah rah” when he’s mic’d up.

Knicks fans who rooted for the team in the 2000s can probably imagine this better than most

In the fullness of time, who here would hire Josh Hart to coach the Knicks?

Only if Jalen Brunson has to be his assistant. Too bad Brunson had a daughter, hopefully he sires the starting PG for our 2050 team in the next couple of years so he can steer him over here.

Maybe Hart’s twin boys will have some talent?

I’m here! 🙂 This is going superb… i hope i can have a positive +/- too. 😉 😛

Did i start watching at the right time or is Brunson playing great since the game started?

lol I’m refreshing every 5 minutes and we have like 10 more points each time.

Let’s dump 150 on these jabronies

Why would OG steal the rebound from Hart?

He reads Knickerblogger and wants to prove he’s worth his salary?

Sims like, “No one ever asked me to score, but if you want, I can jump over the backboard. And I have this little push shot.”

He reads Knickerblogger and wants to prove he’s worth his salary?

If he really read Knickerblogger, he would know that we would argue that his stats are not meaningful because he steals safe rebounds from teammates.

Wise words from Clyde…
“I always think that the foundation has to be laid with defense, not offense”

Why would OG steal the rebound from Hart?

jealousy. he knows if hart gets 6ast and 6reb tonight he’ll be the only knick to ever do it in 8 straight games.

Gotta be honest pretty bad to only be up 19 at halftime.

I started at +22 so my +/- is -3. That proves it, i bring bad luck to the team. 😛 😀

Ha!

RJ is having a good game tonight!

Wait I just remembered Pags predicted Knicks record would be 7-12 so Wizards are due for a huge comeback win!

I’d say the Wiz defense is a sieve but that’s unfair to sieves – a sieve actually stops a few things from going through

Anyone know the record holder(s) for steals in a game? No peeking!

Dyson Daniels. (If not yet, then soon)

I’d love to rest our guys but I don’t even know what a garbage time lineup looks like with the team in its current state.

Payne/Kolek/Dadiet/Sims/Huk would be a kind of performance art.

how can embiid be 0-0 in FT ?!
obviously he used up all his flops on mcbride

I’m glad I resigned from the Minutes Police. This would be driving me nuts if I wasn’t on my pension.

Might take this one off. Second night of a back to back. Load management. Seems in hand. Fatal last words.

Pacome Dadiet is the fourth youngest player in the entire NBA, and he manages to not embarrass himself when he gets on the floor. It is really nice having a kid with some upside on the roster.

If Cooper Flagg is watching this game he’s probably thinking “I’d be the best player on this team, and that’s actually not a good thing”

Yeah, Pacome is looking like another good pick from our FO. It’s strange that they treat picks like hot potato, because when they really use the picks, they’re pretty good at it.

Kolek might not play another minute this season with the defense he’s playing tonight.

If I’m Thibs I’d bring all the starters back just to teach the bench players a lesson.

It’s pretty awesome how Melo and especially Marbury have gotten back into good graces with the Knicks.

Matt Ryan must be the only player Thibs holds in lower regard than Cam Reddish. Hopefully Thibs turns out to be wrong this time.

Hard to take much away from this rout other than we aren’t getting that Wizards 1st, like, ever.

Bridges’ touch is incredible and his numbers on the season should look familiar before too long.

That said, I still might look up highlights of him drawing regular ass fouls, just to know what it looks like.

It’s weird how Kollek has shot well and done everything else incredibly poorly once the regular season started.

I feel for the 10 Wizards fans who still care about this team, what a pointless franchise.

Maybe Embiid truly is on the decline. It’s fun to imagine.

I think they’ll probably be good once Maxey gets back, but who knows how long they can all stay healthy.

Philly looks bad but so do the Pacers. They remind me of the 2021 Hawks who made that fluke Eastern Conference appearance and never made it out of the first round since. Too many similarities actually come to think of it

76ers are an embarrassment to the NBA.

Until Morey has Embiid go for a clean up surgery and tanks for Cooper Flagg and Silver blows an aneurysm….

tuned in to the magic and suns game for a bit…

in the background of the game it looked like paolo banchero was doing a selfie with a fan…

does he remind anyone else of peter boyle in young frankenstein?

way to bring home the win tonight pepper, I hope you had fun at the game…

good to hear no layoffs bidiong…it was funny, sounded like you weren’t about to be too upset with some rest…

saw this funny quote thing reference a “retiree” alarm clock which basically just read: get out of bed if you feel like it

well..i picked a good night to make a triumphant return to the garden…bought some nice seats on line as I was walking to the arena and had a phone app glitch (plus all the gummies were kicking in) and was panicking but I got’er done…
washington is pathetic…taking that job is like taking the jets coaching job…
not much to take away…but sims did have a career night..

When I read that Embiid had lost weight to get ready for the season, it made me wonder about him. I thought maybe that’s not a good sign even though it of course sounds like it will help his knees and his energy.

I seem to recall other aging players saying they had lost weight to get ready for the season (maybe Derrick Rose was one of them) and then the actual results in the season were bad. I wonder if some players deliberately lose weight because they find they are slower or less effective than they were in previous seasons and they want to fix that, but then it doesn’t work because they are intrinsically on the aging curve. Can anyone think of examples pro or con to this line of thinking?

Steve Nash wasn’t 7’1” or anything, but he changed his diet to try to create a competitive advantage as he aged, and it led to him being better from 30-39 than he was from 20-29 (which is, obviously, totally bonkers).

I think embiid’s weight was down to begin this particular season due to his olympic participation this summer…

I saw some “highlights” of his play…not moving so good, super tentative…less than low energy…

tyrese maxey doesn’t deserve this…
