2024-25 Game Thread: Knicks vs, Nets: Win One for KAT!

The Knicks are going to play tonight without Karl Anthony Towns or Deuce McBride, but they simply have to have enough to still take down the Nets, right? Right?

Someone please say right.

Let’s go, Knicks!

I’m actually very excited to see some Huk. Potentially a good game to make an impact.

Did they ever do an NBA review of the Hart foul on White?

He whacked the shit out of his hair, but is that legally a foul?

New school coach vs the 0ld Guard

* will the Knicks need to rid themselves of old man Thibs..

Jordi could be one of those up and coming coaches.

Is Mikal Bridges playing?
Because I see a guy with his number on but…

Edit: it looks like he’s there 🤓

So Simmons is still like their starting center or something

Forced into action . No Claxton or Sharpe.

I know we’re not that big, but can we PLEASE put OG on Thomas?

Please?

Oh look, another 3-point practice session for our adversaries.

Is there a worse defensive backcourt in the league? If there is I can guarantee it’s a fraction of the price of Mikal Bridges.

How will Bridges hold up vs Tatum or Brown to beat the mighty Celtiks.. we know the answer

I mean, if Cam Thomas won’t miss contested shots from 3, it’s not your night. Thankfully it’s early.

Cam Thomas Cam Thomasing us was so obviously gonna happen no one even bothered to predict it

Ummmmmmm:

The Wizards, Jazz, and Pelicans are definitely shitty.

I’d normally be worried about Cam Thomas going for 35 against us, or about Dennis Schroder going for 25 and 15, but fortunately we have a defensive-minded coach who will prevent those occurrences.

Maybe we’ll have a Mikal Bridges Revenge Game Narrative?

Bridges is a sentence from midrange

Cam Thomas is the usual Cam Thomas, arguably the streakiest player in the League…

Sure glad that KAT got injured in like the 47th minute he played in a loss in a game against a crummy Bulls team in fucking November.

Great Huk block.

Annoying as hell that the Nets are right there, but it’s an entertaining game.

One thing I’ve noticed

The team plays at a much quicker pace with Payne at PG. I think this will help Mikal at least on offense.

Over/under on how many guys Thibs plays today?

I’m going with 7.

It didn’t take long for this to look silly… 😂

“The team plays at a much quicker pace with Payne…”

Brunson’s the cap, but he gets full-courted and takes 8 seconds to get across the line, then pounds the ball for another 10 seconds before passing. He really needs to stop doing that. And just have Hart bring the ball across half court.

og, josh, mikal are our best players, they all like to run…nice to see them play with some other guys who like to run…

when jalen plays the pace is slower, and there’s a lot less ball movement…og, josh and mikal are all looking to keep the ball moving to find the best shot…

when it works, it’s more enjoyable to watch…

Dadiet just checked in to put three rookies on the floor. That’s a nine man rotation. This is not a stereotypical Thibs game. Not to mention scoring 37 points in the first quarter and giving up 32 for an offense led quarter.

Payne-Hart-The Summer League Team is a lineup I wouldn’t have predicted we’d see one time before the season

It’s absolutely incredible we have gone from a six man rotation to playing three rookies in the second quarter

World upside down

Brunson passing like the ketamine has kicked in.

But overall a fun game. Great to get more intel on the kids (and good intel, too).

64% from the field seems good.

I love that Cam Thomas is -9

And I love Hul. Not all in but much more of this and I will be.

I do love how huge he is. Can never quit the big lumbering stiffs.

This is a much more fun game than the previous game.

Thibs really wants to win that Cup. 🙂

Does Dadiet have unusually long arms?

6’9″ wingspan for a 6’7.75″ w/o shoes player. Not crazy long arms for his height, but he is tall.

Idk, he doesn’t look all that lumbering or stiff to me

Thank you. He looks really long and long armed.

Miss a call -> give the player who rightfully complains a tech is one of my least favorite refereeing problems.

Anecdotally, it looks as though they pass a lot of open 3s to take contested 2s. I can’t complain as the offense is good, but it could be better?

I am unwavering in my support of OG. Something I will say all the time when he is playing well.

Albert : you played all 58 minutes of that game

Clyde – Still feeling it

Love how Clyde is putting an X in Hukporti

I’m working so I can’t watch. Huk is playing fairly well it seems? Boxscore says he has 3 blocks

It’s a strange season so far. Some crushing losses and some deeply heartening wins.

The Nets seem pretty bad.

Well I’m excited to see Huk doing some stuff. If he plays up to scouting report, he should be a useful piece for us. The scouting report says he can play drop and protect the rim, and set good screens. He doesn’t need to be Kareem out there to be useful.

If they play DFS at C, we should just roll with OG there… Or switch Huk onto someone else

That was one of the oddest turnovers I’ve ever seen from a player. It wasn’t even that bad, per se, it was just odd.

That seems like a bad challenge. How did DFS not touch that last?! Are they trying to get a foul call? I don’t understand this challenge at all.

Yeah, DFS clearly touched the ball. Are they trying to get OG fouled out?

Edit: what Brian said. But you can’t challenge a non foul call, can you?

Reddish somehow played 19 minutes tonight without recording a single statistic (except for 3 fouls).

Ooooooh….I see what they’re talking about, okay, that makes sense, they were looking before the inbounds. Fair enough, Brooklyn, smart challenge!

I thought they were talking about after the inbounds, but yeah, he clearly pulled his jersey before the inbounds, and that is a foul.

If this reverse calls were made in Europe, there’s a good chance the refs need a police escort to get out of the building… 😂😂😂

This game is taking way too long to finish.

It’s fucking interminable!

Williams is making some terrrrrrrrrrrible defensive decisions on Brunson. Why would you bump him like that so far from the basket?

Brunson should not have to work this fucking hard to win this fucking game!

I don’t get why teams don’t just double Brunson late with this group of dudes.

Hang them to the rafters…

The reversed call that fouled out OG completely turned the game around…

And then Cam Payne… 🤦🏻‍♂️

I mean, this is terrible, but they have the ball and the last shot. Just fucking make it and go home with a win.

Well, he finally showed up.

We won. I don’t feel like celebrating.

Hukporti showed something.

The idea of letting Brunson take that shot is just mind-numbingly stupid. Just, I cannot believe anyone would ever think that that made sense. You would rather let any other Knick shoot that ball but Brunson. If that was a Knick doing that, I would be catatonic. It was truly that stupid.

But good for us! What a win!

“Hey, let’s dare Jalen fucking Brunson to shoot!” said no one ever until the fucking moron Nets at the end of this game.

Ugly game, I hope KAT and Deuce are back Sunday.

Crazy, Bridges disappeared in the 4th and then he saved the game…

We saw good things from Huk, but I’m going to have a hard time trying to survive a full season of Cam Payne…

Good to see Huk get minutes and to earn Thibs trust. He’s only going to get better over time.

I tuned in Knicks up 7 or something. Then threw everything at my TV until the very last second. I’m glad I missed this one, I think. Yikes.

If Hukporti slowly wins the backup C job that makes Mitch more expendable in a trade. 4 blocks tonight. 3 assists.

Hukporti is clearly better than Sims.

The challenges in this game were a fucking trash fire. Let me get this straight, the NBA already had a problem with boring ass challenges taking up way too much time so this year they decided that teams should get more of them? Man alive if these fucks can’t make a call in 60 seconds, the play should stand. I’m livid and I was able to fast forward!!

What else? Brunson rules (tho he could clean up the turnovers please)
