2024-25 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Bucks – I Mean, Come On Now, This Has Gotta be a Win

I mean, come on, seriously, this has got to be a win.

And I imagine it will be!

Let’s go, Knicks!

Let’s Go Knicks!

Game threads are free zones for hot takes, so here’s mine:
the Bucks have the two best players in tonight’s game so… don’t panic! 😀

Easy loss here as Giannis gets to the rim uncontested 20 times and Lillard bombs 10 threes off simple screening actions that send Bridges sprawling.

To me we have the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th best, maybe even the 7th 🙂

But the hot take is a hot take because if you go with this year’s numbers Dame’s playing better than JB… 😉

The Bucks are paper thin after the big-2, with Lopez getting older and older Portis is their third best player.

Clyde and Breen are something all Americans can agree on. I’d like to think Robert Randolph is in that category but not sure….

I can’t decide if Doc Rivers is slowly morphing into a rhinoceros or a hippopotamus.

And the Knicks Kids Dancers might be better than most teams’ adult dance groups.

KAT is even better offensively than I thought and I already knew how good he was on offense.

By the year 2050, will anyone still be taking 2-point shots?

By the year 2050 there’s a new 4-point line that Steph would’ve liked existed when he played. 😀

Won’t be able to tune in for a bit. Are we playing some actual defense here or are the Bucks just Doc Riversing this one away so far?

It’s a heady mix.

I have not been watching the game but the boxscore indicates that Jericho Sims threw the ball into the basket once

Brunson is just off and it’s getting in his head. He’ll come around eventually.

Maybe the foul shots will help Brunson unlock his shooting touch.

… he said in response to marechal (not).

Re: defense, it helps that the Bucks look to be one of the slowest teams in the league.

I don’t want to jinx nothing, but the bucks look more out of sorts than us…

I can’t wait to see jalen and mikal put it together in our backcourt…right now, not so great…

I can’t for the life of me understand why Doc played Lopez rather than Giannis on KAT.

Yeah…bridges better get better…I’m not seeing what i thought I wuz gonna see from that dude…

KAT is a fucking incredible offensive player… the rest of the team has got to step up to his level on that end.

Kolek looks like he is 12

Towns is basically unguardable. I think we should move him to shooting guard.

And yeah, the pace feels much more controlled than in Atlanta

The Bucks haven’t yet figured out that a Brook Lopez high screen is an automatic basket

League seems to have figured Brunson out. It’s a fine line between the 2nd best PG in the league and the 10th. With guys like Lillard and Morant getting back on form, he’s looking less and less like a tentpole every day.

Still think we should have sold high on him and kept on accumulating.

Max

The Knicks could get a lot for Brunson if they wanted. He’s 28 on a team friendly contract

Just to clarify, I didn’t say that about Brunson, it’s an Educate’s copy and paste mistake 😁

Without Trent or Middleton, how can the Bucks win any games? They don’t have any shooting besides Dame!

Jolie doesn’t play like a 12 year old at least!!!

KAT putting on a show.

Brunson is really a usage/efficiency paradox right now

Spurts like this that we’ve seen so far this season is what keeps the high hopes alive.

No help, please.

Not sure why OG is in there with three fouls, 5 minutes left in the quarter and a 15 point lead

Towns is just ridiculous on offense! Top 3 offense here we come!

Defense looks better tonight but it could be the Bucks.

The way Towns owns the top of the key feels pretty unusual to me. Never seen a guy who uses that area better.

Fantastic half by KAT, Josh played well, the Bucks are a two players team with a bad coach.

Halftime in Cleveland: Cavs 83 Warriors 42. Not a typo.

If the Knicks can win when Brunson can’t hit the broad side of the barn it’s a very good thing.

Towns at the 5 is a beauty, defense be damned. He might be back to his >5 BPM days pre-Gobert.

This is kind of the opposite of the Atlanta game. Knicks are shooting 7-24 from deep and are winning by almost 20.

Agreed with many, even if the shots aren’t falling JB has played better tonight, moving the ball and finding the open guys…

That was a really enjoyable half.

We were in need of that, after the horrendous last game.

In contrast to Julius and even to Brunson in some respect, KAT looks like he can and will do this anytime day or night. I hope I’m right.

Absolutely. 7 assists in a half is excellent for him. The shots will fall eventually. It helps that the Bucks are pretty bad defensively.

Let’s go Knicks! Just need to get the captain going 👍🏾 Bucks are fucked as long as Doc is there

That Brunson shot that went in will be the new 6 pt shot of the future, “from inside of your 3 pt line” 😀

I think Darvin ham is on the bench next to doc…he’s already contemplating what offense he is going to run when he takes over

Budenholzer has the Suns playing well and Atkinson has the Cavs playing great. Doc, well, forget about Doc. Coaching matters.

Why does it seem like Alan knows the stats better than that Knick Asst. Coach?

Also. I just don’t Fucking Get it. Up 15. Towns obviously limping, but Thibs: Nah.

The delta between KAT’s agility on offense and his agility on defense is enormous

He is the kind of offensive talent people said Melo was (but he wasn’t)

Towns hurt?

No way we make it 10 games with both him and OG intact

Team coaching matters taking a huge W this season, the Cavs get a competent coach and are suddenly unbeatable, the Bucks keep Doc and are a dumpster fire…

ahh..yes…hopefully neptune stays in that other thread all night..

Yep… because the hive mind’s valuation of KAT is so spot on….

Cavs were a good regular season under Bickerstaff and now looking great this season. I still need to be fully convinced they are elite come playoff time.

It’s incredible how different Bridges drills corner 3s compared to bricking above the break 3s.

You know the Bucks have fallen when I just said out loud in complete seriousness “it’s hard to know what to make of this against a team like Milwaukee”

Mikal’s shot still looks a little broken at times. From the corner maybe he’s more confident and it impacts the delivery a little.

Mikal’s shot still looks a little broken at times.

You mean when it doesn’t go in?

Mikal’s shot still looks a little broken at times.

Yeah, I don’t like that Markelle Fultz comes to mind ….

Yeah, my worry is that Brunson is a bit of an efficient Iverson who struggles without absolute ball domonance

OG has to work on finishing at the rim. He so damn strong but he doesn’t finish well unless he dunks.

If you could measure vibes, this Bucks teams would be an all-time rancid vibes team… even Giannis looks like he’s had enough and he’s typically a 100% effort type of guy.

We do look better though, it’s been fun.

OG has been the primary defender on Giannis and has done a great job. A guy like Giannis is going to get his, but OG has not allowed him to take over the game.

The Celtics 2008 title has done irreparable damage to multiple franchises at this point…

Our defense is awesome when the opponent doesn’t know that you can set a screen and get easy looks.

Yeah, was gonna say the same about OG. The shot hasn’t been there, but he’s played a solid game otherwise. 5 bounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks. 8 minutes left.

The Bucks are a joke right now. Fire Bud, trade Holiday, eventually hire Doc…. Are they still paying Bud? 😂

Milwaukee emptied the bench, time to do the same…

I knew KAT as a good passer but he’s even better then I expected.

oh thats why the bucks are so bad… Nannis was playing (according to Clyde)

Is Sims the kind of guy who plays up or down to his competition. I’ve seen some fire in him every once in a while in a big game, but — right now — he should be clocking the Bucks second team hard, but he looks like he’s a duffer at the Y. I just don’t get it.

PS — Kolek knows how to inbound. Haha. And shoot the three.

huk for sims (clyde hasn’t brought out the matador d for him surprisingly)

While you suckers are watching the Knicks cruise, I’m watching the Celtics sweat.

Only caught garbage time, but holy shit the Bucks must suck. Turns out it was good to trade that Bucks pick because it’s gonna end up top-4 and not conveying.

Overall that was a fantastic offensive performance. That A/to you don’t see too often

Hart was effective in this game I thought. Played well on the defensive end and took the offense that was available to him. Kolek looked pretty good in that non-garbage patch he played earlier in the game, made a couple of nice passes with good feel, had the lefty layup, swished a 3.

Detroit beat the Hawks and is actually eighth in the East at four and six. I’m kind of rooting for them to be decent.

Maybe root for the Wiz instead since we could potentially get their pick.

Just met a dog on the third floor of my building named Kobe Knowledge. Remy’s cool. She’s young.

Maybe root for the Wiz instead since we could potentially get their pick.

That makes sense and I’ll root for that. But I went to graduate school in Michigan and mostly all their sports teams were long suffering, so I sympathize. .

But seriously, how is a Giannis/Dame team this bad?

I honestly think we could easily be this bad in a year’s time if we swapped Thibs for Rivers today. Ill-fitting rosters demand lots of work and our guy for all his faults puts it in. Doc just shows up.

Giannis doesn’t play defense like he used to was something I was thinking last night…

It’s not that he isn’t capable I suspect….

From Ian Begley (according to Twitter)
“Doc Rivers on NYK: “I know the Knicks coach and I know that he’s going to get it all together. I’m sure of that. Tom’s a phenomenal coach. And they made changes. They made changes to their core guys. And you don’t just…. chemistry is an amazing thing. They had it last year and they’ll get it back. You don’t just wake up and have it. It takes time. It will come for them, I guarantee it.”
