2024 Playoff Thread: Knicks @ Sixers, Game 6, Only Return to New York for Second Round Opener, which I say is a thing

In all seriousness, the Knicks are obviously in the much better situation than the Sixers. The Knicks just need to split these two games, while the Sixers need to win both games (which will also mean beating the Knicks three games in a row). So just relax. The Knicks will probably close the Sixers out tonight, and if they don’t, they’ll close them out in the Garden on Saturday.

Plus, the Pacers will be the Knicks’ opponent, and, well, come on, they’re not as good as this Sixers team even.

So just relax, enjoy the game, and on the off chance the Knicks don’t pull it out tonight, be confident in them bringing it all back home on Saturday.

Let’s go, Knicks!

I can’t not watch. Haven’t felt anticipation like this since my colonoscopy back in ’21.

iHart no fouls. Divo 15+. A little bit o’ Precious. No injuries. Bang bang.

I will watch as long as I can, and provide some color (hopefully not black) as long as I can, for those who professionally or emotionally cannot watch (but can read the thread).

Deuce Deuce!

Haven’t felt anticipation like this since my colonoscopy back in ’21.

This is the kind of high quality trolling I can get behind (so to speak)

Does Donte step up? Does Deuce maintain his play? Can we play consistently strong defense? Can we make free throws? Can we open with the lead? Man…so much to see

Five point lead for the Knicks!

And Donte with the three…

Like I’ve said many times , big first quarter leads always hold up (-:

That’s the start we need.

Looks like a concerted effort to get everyone going on offense.

Keep it up. Keep it up. Job’s not over.

Love the adjustment of forcing Maxey left. No easy layups going right

I like it so far! Divo making 3s is a very good sign. And his D on Maxey is good – just forcing him left.

It feels SO much better than the usual being down 10-0…

They are playing beautiful basketball and seem more relaxed than at home. They are certainly more relaxed than me. 🤪🤪🤪🤪

Smart strategy to play well in the 1st quarter for a change!

Co-sign

Passing has been pretty, too

The owners of the 76ers and former minority owner Michael Rubin have purchased tickets for Thursday’s Game 6 of Philadelphia’s playoff series against the Knicks in an attempt to block New York fans from once again overrunning Wells Fargo Center.

Go NY Go NY GO!

Gutturally yelling as iHart rips away a rebound from Embiid with one arm

ANNC, “I guess when you’re the reigning MVP, things might go your way,” — iHart w/ 2

Grant Hill calling bullshit on both the Embiid fouls. Good for him.

Grant Hill already calling out the refs for their bullshit helping Embiid.

Taking a close up video of Embiid applying a brace is next level preemptive excuse making

More of the same bullshit.

I think the only solution is to body up Embiid and keep him from getting to his spot in the post. The refs are giving him shooting fouls if he gets exhaled on.

Mitch doesn’t know how to deal with that obvious swipe from Embiid. I’ve seen OG successfully avoid it a few times.

Is there anything more infuriating than watching Embiid complain about a call against him after multiple terrible calls in his favor already?

OG to the cup!!! “New York. Just like I pictured it. Skyscrapers and everything.”

The Josh Hart coast-to-coast fake-out had me giggling.

Multiple offensive rebounds, Brunson burning, Divo hitting from outside, OG doing OG things, Much shutting down Embiid…hard not to feel good so far!

Starting a GoFundMe for English Knick to attend every game

76er strategy: Feed Embiid and have him draw fouls on iHart and Mitch.

It’s way early, but we’re totally bottling up Maxey so far. He looks a little rattled

Everyone be cool. Still need to see it out. Stay hungry. Play smart. Let’s go Knicks

Dream start! Literally just need to not lose the next 40 minutes by 20.

Is this going too well?

Is there anything more infuriating than watching Embiid complain about a call against him after multiple terrible calls in his favor already?

His victim act is the fucking worst

It’s way early, but we’re totally bottling up Maxey so far. He looks a little rattled

I don’t want a jinx, but I could watch a few more of those bricked threes from Maxey.

My blood pressure is out of heart attack range for now. The wine guzzling might be helping too.

So so hopeful. So so nervous.

I can’t believe this is a 9pm game. Either way, I’m up until about 2am tonight.

76er strategy: Feed Embiid and have him draw fouls on iHart and Mitch.

76er strategy: Buy all of the arena seats and then sit around wondering why that was their only strategy.

Did Embiid just straight give up in the first quarter of a game?

Cam fucking Payne. He does look like he came to play. Let’s stop that, please.

We need to crush them while we have the chance

Also, Mitch got fouled on the second Brunson miss

Brunson wanted to make sure Sixers fans had something to eat later while they’re drowning their sorrows

I have a parlay on the Knicks winning the first quarter and then the game. First leg done, now let’s see that second leg come through!

What sick person whose last name is Payne names their son Cameron?

Well I will certainly take that first quarter. Some really pretty plays by pretty much everyone on the Knicks, offense and defense. Sixers made a brief run, but this is the NBA, runs happen. We answered, and are up 14.

I love OG but he’s been blocked three times already.

A lot of mistakes to open the quarter. Good timeout. FOCUS!

Pags, you’re supposed to be not watching. And certainly not posting.

When did TV ads start teaching adults how to poop?

Wake up fucking Brunson. Stop dribbling and forcing. Pass when they come at you.

This is that “we’re tired” offense from end of last game. Not sure what’s going on. It’s still early.

It would look better if we made a few of our open shots. Deuce has been bad so far.

Maxey has done nothing. We’re getting killed by Embiid, Hield and Scott Foster

I know Raven. I’m sorry, couldn’t help myself. Looks like I’ll be turning it off soon

Randle sitting on the bench, wish he was on the court instead.

Instead of waiting until the final minute Knicks decided to start choking in the 2nd quarter.

Will someone score the fucking ball!!!

iHart only one showing up at the moment on both ends.

Think I’ll go read some NYT headlines to look for good news.

This is more depressing than being down by 15 in the first quarter.

Pagliacci wasn’t being pessimistic, he was being realistic.

My comments earlier about a bus slowly sliding over a cliff …. It’s EXCRUCIATING.

STOP FUCKING DOUBLING EMBIID!!!

OK, that’s what happens when we stop.

Anyone think Thibs will use the most effective strategy we have to defend Embiid in the second half or just keep sending soft and ineffective double teams?

Turning off. This is a loss. Master xlass in finding ever more brutal ways to choke.

Looks like Thibs will now be 3-9 when up 3-2. E was right about everything.

This is now officially less fun that it was half an hour ago.

Knicks still haven’t taken the dicks out of their mouths that they choked on last game.

Once they got up by 20 they thought they won the game. Idiots.

How does this team collectively forget how to finish on the break all of a sudden

I wish we’d just lost in 5 or whatever, this slow collapse is so much worse. Just want this all to be over.

Would love to be able to bring in Bogey right about now.

Honestly we really could’ve used Bogey in to get 2-3 buckets while the offense went to complete shit

How does this team collectively forget how to finish on the break all of a sudden

on the break. at the rim. everywhere. putting together that lowlight film will be a sad man.

I do think it is fatigue. A lot of mental mistakes. Adrenaline for Q1 but the tank is empty.

We’re resilient, and this is the test of the season. They better come out with fire.

Maybe the attrition is catching up to us. The effort is still there, but the decision making is starting to slip

Hield making us pay for 2x Embiid, Knicks not hunting Hield on offense, thus Hield outscores Knicks in 2nd qtr. Real test of Knicks mettle.

haven’t made it out the house yet to go get the boys…for some reason my resting heartrate (about 62 to 65 usually) has jumped about 20 bpm…

not watching the game, just laying down and listening to soft piano music…

thought I’d check in here to see how you all were doing – ha, looks like y’all are having more trouble with your nerves than I am 😊

that does kind of make me smile and feel better about myself…

fuck, sometimes it feels like my glands and endocrine system are just totally doing their own thing…here have this extra dosage of adrenaline – just because why not…

I’ll be happy if we win…so let’s win…

Kenny and Charles accurately tearing the Knicks a suite of new assholes. I hate it when they’re right. Meatheads.

Prediction: they come out flat in Q3, go down by 20, and storm back in the 4th to win. This team seems to need to have their backs against the wall sometimes, facing what seems like hopeless doom, before they come alive.

I muted the halftime show, I’m too angry to hear it

Unfortunately Kenny and Charles are right. But it’s time for Thibs to outcoach Nurse once again and earn the 3rd quarter.

Why has Precious been benched? Thibs goes away from things and his job should come under question if they lose this series

Also not going to grill Leon Rose , but trading Obi for nothing wasn’t the right answer. He didn’t know Randle and Bogey would go down. This team needs more scoring though and what they traded him for would be the same as just letting him go in free agency .

OG/Precious D. Hart on one leg is not gonna be good to watch.

At this point iHart will be lucky to get a minimum contract this summer.

Why don’t we just trade him for scraps, would that make you happy

Vibes less good

Embiid appears to have office space inside IHarts head

Well, we ARE only down by five…

I mean, seven.

Thibs looks like a kindergartener trying to spell Massachusetts.

Holy shit they just showed a stat Knicks this season are 37-0 when they have a lead of 15+ pts.

I’m not even mad or frustrated anymore, just a sad feeling right now…

Lowry complains about every single foul it’s really fucking annoying

Thibs looks like a kindergartener trying to spell Massachusetts.

ha, too funny hubie…very easy visual of thibs to conjure..

I’m not even mad or frustrated anymore, just a sad feeling right now…

wasn’t it valvano who said you should strongly feel a wide range of emotions each and every day…

think of it as getting a week’s worth of living in every one of these games BBA…

Did we not have another idea against Embiid with OG and Precious? Did it not work for at least five minutes? Did I hallucinate that?

Valvano said if you laugh, think and cry you’ve had a heckuva day!

I think this team has already done all the Knicksy things this series so all that’s left is to win.

Why do I do this to myself? Is it worth it? I’m not sure it is!

They’ve weathered the storm at least, hopefully now Philly starts to get tight.

Brunson is probably gonna have to score 45 at least for us to win this

finally tuned in…still haven’t left the house…

nice to see OG hit that three…

took drugs, doing deep breathing, staying positive…

just gotta practice patience…

Deuce misses three shots and now we have a six man rotation?

Yup

Totally random but I found out where Joel Embiid lives today. Surprise: it’s in NYC. I may or may not give his address to Knicks twitter.

Cameron Payne shoots like the third best player in the original Teen Wolf

The Sixers have successfully negated our rebounding advantage again.

Ian Eagle had OG’s government name in his back pocket for that block lol

Now we’re going to go back to iHart. I’m sure Embiid will come back.

Jesus Brunson sits and they turn into a turnover machine.

This series reminds me of the Earnie Shavers/Ron Lyle heavyweight fight years back when the virtually had a toe-to-toe slugfest

IHart cannot stop Embiid one on one like Mitch gotta understand that

I think that Deuce three was our first bench points.

I kind of think that clear out elbow from Embiid is a foul but they never call it

Naturally Thibs went back to the worst defense we have for Embiid.

Ironic Knicks might lose this game because they can’t get a defensive rebound.

Hartenstein cannot stop Embiid one on one.

And Thibs is literally the only person who hasn’t figured this out.

Joel is a fucking moron

OG got fouled too but no blood no foul, literally

Embiid hit him after (or before?) the ball.

Announcers are wrong.

I-Hart needs a cut man he’s been hit in the face like 10 times tonight

Need Mitch in there. I don’t care what he doesn’t give on offense.

Embiid’s left arm to iHart’s face. Call should stand. Philly loses their challenge. Might matter.

Come on, Foster, obviously it’s the ball that is committing the fouls.

So there’s now two kinds of contact: marginal and more than marginal

The end of this game is going to be like passing a kidney stone…..

Most dislikeable Phillies, in order.
Embiid
Oubre
Lowrey
Nurse
Fans

So there’s now two kinds of contact: marginal and more than marginal

It is traditional to ask on the 3rd date if she wants to be “more than marginal”

The end of this game is going to be like passing a kidney stone…..

Lol

Post of the night.

Most dislikeable Phillies, in order.
Embiid
Oubre

Fans

Need Payne before Fans

Key might be Thibs getting Brunson a couple of quick blows in the fourth

Knicks don’t need to do shoot arounds. They need to do FT arounds.

Brunson is crazy fucking strong to remain squared up on one leg after taking that contact to shoot

I miss Randle if only to save Brunson’s energy to make free throws

It was goaltending based on the rules. It’s a shame because it wasn’t going in. But we miss our free throws so we deserve to lose.

Hit your fucking FTs like Philly does and it wouldn’t matter.

Hart is good from up top. He seems to hit those threes.

Ask me if I’m still mad about the first round pick we gave up for Josh Hart.

So shouldn’t the Knicks foul here instead of letting Maxey throw up a three?

Sweet baby Jesus

Truly think my heart is struggling with these games

Truly think my heart is struggling with these games

Years off my life

Can’t believe Nurse didn’t catch a T with all his incessant yapping

They can’t take it away, right? No review or something we don’t know about?

Look guys – I’m willing to stick around in the US for the remainder of the playoffs if you can crowd fund my tickets and accommodation… I’m just a good guy like that.

Watched the last minute – too stressful. Some joy, mostly relief.

Fucking hell, I lost like 10 years of life expectancy with this series, but Knicks in 6 prevailed baby!

Also I don’t want to hear any of you ever question Josh Hart again, what a gigantic 3.

Also FUCK THE SIXERS AND FUCK EMBIID, off to Indiana we go!

Wooo! Feels good to finally close these fuckers out! And get some desperately needed rest before our next series against Indy.

Watched the last minute – too stressful. Some joy, mostly relief.

Yeah I feel the same. Phew! Wipe my brow and exhale.

Jalen Brunson joins Oscar Robinson in playoff history with 3 35+ points and 10+ assist games in one series.

Stress thy name is a Knicks game. LETS GO KNICKS!!!!!

Props to the sixers, more than worthy first round opponent

Maaaan i need to take my bp meds.

I scared my son twice shouting during the game. But mannn… I’m still shaking.

So, soooooo happy we closed this out.

The Oscar Robertson stat is NUTS

And this guy was ‘bad’ in the first two games

Jalen is currently the leading scorer of all teams in the playoffs. MVP, MVP, MVP….

I would have loved an easy win at some point in the series but thats not bad at all

Yup Josh Hart is the kinda player who can win you playoff series

English_Knick , whose presence was the tipping point. Maybe a visit to Indiana?

A big sigh of relief.
I felt it would go down to the last second even up 22 in the 1st.
On to Indy!
It was fitting that the hack named Embiid fouled out.

I take back every bad thing I said about this team during the 2nd quarter.

I love you guys! I love this team! This was a series to remember. Despite all the chaos, blown leads, terrible officiating, we did it.

Nick Nurse with 11 chains on as a 56 year old man explaining how the math said to leave Josh Hart open is gonna hit different

Jalen Brunson is a legitimate superstar. I still can’t believe how good he is

It goes way back to the 3rd quarter but one of the biggest shots of the game was Devo’s three to cut the lead to 7

If he misses that, this game might have gotten out of hand

Knicks were 6 for 21 in the 2nd quarter.
When do we start the Indy series?

These last 48 hours were quite something. I think I can be back on the internet now.

Jalen Brunson, last 4 games of this series:

39 points
47 points
40 points
41 points

Michael Jordan (’93) is the last player to score 39+ points in 4 straight playoff games.

I have to confess that I was so disturbed by the way Game 5 ended that I didn’t log on to KB until right now, nor did I listen, watch, or read anything about that game or this game until I turned the game on. I literally couldn’t sleep and felt like my guts have been kicked out.

So thankful that the boys came through tonight. Now the season is at least somewhat of a success no matter what happens going forward. And I hope we can put the Game 82 discussion behind us. We won in 6 by playig the same way we did in game 82.

I am so happy to be a fan of this gritty team. Bring on the Pacers!

I wasn’t stressed until this game. The previous game shook my faith in an inevitable victory but holy shit was that a rollercoaster.

English Knick has been to 1 Knick game and it’s better than any game I’ll ever go to.

Can you believe we have a franchise player that we can comfortably expect 40 points a night from?? Can you believe it?

From Stephan Bondy:

Knicks play the Pacers for Game 1 on Monday at MSG at 7:30 p.m.

TNT is broadcasting the game. No more MSG Network.

I have a parlay on the Knicks winning the first quarter and then the game. First leg done, now let’s see that second leg come through!

Congrats. 💰💰💰💰💰

Shea Serrano really captures what I am feeling right now

WE DID IT WE DID IT ALL OF US LIFELONG KNICKS FANS SINCE LIKE A WEEK AGO WE FUCKING DID IT WE DESERVE THIS

I have to confess that I was so disturbed by the way Game 5 ended that I didn’t log on to KB until right now, nor did I listen, watch, or read anything about that game or this game until I turned the game on. I literally couldn’t sleep and felt like my guts have been kicked out.

Here’s my confession: I followed the score every 15 min or so on my phone, but couldn’t bear to watch it. Game 5 destroyed me.

Jalen Brunson is the Best PG in the NBA, unless you count Luka as a PG.

And Props to Thibs, who outcoached Nurse again and again.

And now Joel Embiid can declare for the WWE.

Can you believe we have a franchise player that we can comfortably expect 40 points a night from?? Can you believe it?

He may go down as the best player in franchise history if we win it all one of these years

Nick Nurse with 11 chains on as a 56 year old man explaining how the math said to leave Josh Hart open is gonna hit different

Plus the pained-douche-face when Nurse is asked about using Hield too late in the series.

Donte finally stepped up. Some ugly sets, but he drained his 3s

Shout out to Nick Nurse for blowing a TO on a stupid challenge

I watched on TNT tonight. They’ve stolen Brian’s “is a thing” bit.

I know the Sixers have 2 stars and we have 1, but the rest of that Sixer lineup of Lowry, Oubre and Harris is just hot garbage

Pacers and Knicks both won 4-2, but could not have faced more different paths in their first round.

I’m looking forward to Embiid’s charming post-game comments. I’m sure it will be full of effusive praise for the Knicks and how they lost fair and square.

It’s also kinda sweet that they tried to shut out Knicks fans from buying tickets and, well, it didn’t work.

Damn Pacers upped their ticket prices for the Knicks series like 4x.

Didn’t realize Divo played every second. He was instrumental in this win – great D shading Maxey left, and quick enough to keep him from getting past him usually. Big night from him – just as we all hoped.

Is there a line on which teammate Embiid throws under the bus?

The Villanova trio: 80 pts, 11/22 from three, 26 assists, 21 rebounds.

Divo alone played all 48 minutes. 23 pts, 7 assists, 4 boards, 2 steals, 3 blocks, 5-9 from three, and 2 clutch free throws down the stretch when “the ship be sinking”

Tip of the cap.

I don’t know who needs the 3 days off more, the players or myself.

Philly will be better next year just replacing Harris with a live body.

He was really good once, but zero points in this game? Man

The momentum had shifted after that dramatic game 5. I had the Knicks for dead before the start tonight and I had them for dead at the beginning of the third quarter. I suspect I was not alone. Once again, however, those Knicks proved everybody wrong. They have done this time, after time, after time this season. Don’t forget that we are talking about Brunson plus role players no matter how well-coached they are and how hard they play. There is no doubt we are just one player away from competing for a championship. This could be just Randle, who knows.

That little giant Jalen Brunson beat the Sixers by himself in the fourth quarter tonight, while the rest of the team made the right plays when needed on offense and defense.

On to Indiana now. It is going to be a weird matchup given the way Indiana plays. We shall see if we can slow them down. Win or lose, this Knicks team already made me proud.

Man all I gotta say is I’m so fucking proud of this team. This is all I’ve ever wanted as a fan.

The nova boys came through so huge tonight. Hart with the three. Fitting he hit a three to win game one and to close it out. OG was fucking awesome and big props to DDV for coming through and breaking the mini slump at the most important time.

Now please let’s take care of Indiana. If we end up losing I’ll justify it like hey we didn’t have Randle, only 7 deep, Philly took a lot out of us, etc. But I just want to go to the eastern conference finals so bad. We deserve it.

But I don’t think it will be easy. Indiana can score and scoring is something we struggle without Randle and now not even Bojan off the bench.

But tonight. We did it. This was a huge test for us and we passed it. If we ever do win a title this year or next we may all well point to this series as the one where the team really found that extra level and became champions.

5 things that need to happen for us to win game 6 tonight:

– Brunson is Brunson
– Devo is pre-playoffs Devo
– Deuce is good Deuce
– Embiid continues to look like a 75 year old man “running’” up and down the court
– Maxey becomes human

I normally don’t like reposting my own shit, but I did have 4 out of 5 right (-:

Harris was invisible the entire series and he was brought in originally to be the third guy. Just worthless.

But I don’t think it will be easy. Indiana can score and scoring is something we struggle without Randle and now not even Bojan off the bench.

It’s not about scoring. We don’t have the roster to outscore them and we don’t play that style of basketball. It is about slowing them down.

Zman-

You and and me both. I was at game 5. After that brutal soul crushing loss, I’ve been in depression since then. I stayed away from text messages, internet, TV, and knickerblogger. My family knows how depressed I get after a big loss and gave me space. I watched the game at work tonight. From the call room (I’m a physician). The last few minutes I probably made patients and staff uncomfortable with my yelling (OG dunk, Brunson big shots, harts 3, etc). What a rollercoaster. I’m planning on attending game 2 next week. I know it’s not healthy, but man, my entire life hinges on this team right now. Like most of you. Ride or die!

The Nova trio are having a classic postgame press conference together.

Llcoolbp, great story! Glad it had a happy ending for all of our sakes!

Special shout-out to Mitch, he’s clearly playing through pain but stepped up and slowed Embiid down. And to iHart, who took everything but a punch to his face from Embiid.

Love the nova guys. Their chemistry is infectious and seems to spill over to the entire team.

Indiana will be interesting. Can the Knicks physicality overcome their offense? Knicks have to impose their will on Indiana. Maybe having this first round war was a blessing in disguise. Mentally it has to help prepare the Knicks. I can taste the Eastern cobfeeence finals. And if you squint you can see them posing a problem for the Celtics without Porzingis. I’m getting way ahead of myself. From depression to irrational euphoria. The life of a knick fan.

My favorite stat: We still haven’t lost 2 games in a row with OG on the team.

This one stings, even though I wasn’t going to be able to watch game 7 anyways, I deserved to at least know it was happening elsewhere.

The annoying thing is that the Cavs Magic series probably will go 7 games and it’s been such a boring series so far that it will probably just be on NBATV while TNT replays Knicks Sixers highlights.

The most important thing is that I won my bet. 😉

Not only did Harris score 2 points, he only took 2 shots. How does that level of passivity in an elimination game happen lol

just got home and watched the game…holy fuck…that was, as they say in hockey…a “greasy” win…a lot of heroes tonight and fuck that asshole embeed…draymond was my most despised player in the league before this series…now its not even close…embeeaatch takes the crown…also nice to see nurse eatin crow in the postgame…another asshat…

The most important thing is that I won my bet. 😉

hmmmm, now you have me curious BC…the money you make from betting – do you throw it in with the other money to like pay utilities, go buy groceries…

or, are the betting earnings earmarked for something different, more a reward type treat…

Kind of incredible how great Josh Hart was in this series.

He shot 16-37 from 3PT, a cool .432 percentage.
Averaged 16.8 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game.
Played 46.3 minutes per game and made big plays at the end of several games.

Monster series.

Like several of you, the Game 5 collapse hit me as hard as any sporting event has in a long time. I stayed off Twitter. I stayed off here. I resolved that I was just not going to watch Game 6, because my nerves and my soul couldn’t take it. I watched The Simpsons with my kids. I watched all the fight scenes in Legend of Drunken Master. I read a book. I kept my phone on Do Not Disturb. I went to sleep at 11, knowing nothing.

My dreams are not often literal, but this night, I kept dreaming about looking at the score, and seeing that the Knicks won, or that they lost. Finally, when I got up at 4 to take a leak, I couldn’t resist checking my phone, assuring myself I would be at peace with either result. When I saw how close the score was, I told myself I had probably made the right call. And when I inevitably couldn’t get back to sleep and decided to put on the MSG rewind, I knew I had made the right call. Given how Game 5 ended, seeing this thing live would have killed me 17 different times. Instead, I got to experience all the extreme momentum swings with the reassurance that things would all end up okay.

I love this team, and can’t wait to see them against the Pacers, no matter how that series goes. I just… the previous game kind of broke me, and I needed to step away briefly. And I’m so happy things went well this time.

It’s the opposite here, Alan. I really wanted to watch this one, but i fell asleep… it started at 2AM here.
Well, what matters is that we’re in the 2nd round and English Knick got to see the Knicks live and in such a high stakes game. That must have been amazing! 🧡💙
About game 5, i didn’t say it to not jinx game 6, but it would only be one of the worst losses of Knicks history if we lost the series… now it’s only a footnote, thank God! 😉
