The Mitch dunk over Embiid was such an amazing and cathartic moment for Knicks fans. I don’t know if Mitch personally feels this way but seeing him do that after what Embiid did to him two years ago was one of those rare moments where sports transcends being just a game and becomes story and narrative. A full circle moment.
Mitch is an OG (before we had OG). Dude was drafted by us as a 19 year old kid and joined The Knicks when we were at our absolute lowest. He’s stuck around and we’ve gotten to watch him grow into one of the best defensive centers in the league. But then he’s had so many injuries and it’s looked like his career would be derailed. He fought his way back from an injury the first time only to have Embiid pull that shit and reinsure him and he missed almost another full season of basketball because of those shenanigans.
And then this season the Knicks have masterfully managed his minutes all season and to now see him return to his full powers and, in fact, maybe even be better than ever, at this moment, and to then do that to Embiid. It’s a moment that I will never forget and I’m just so fucking happy for that dude.

Having him for every playoff game sans the sick day pto is pretty fucking sweet. He plays every game in the regular season without injury we got a shot at the one seed.

I can’t imagine many Sixers fans want to go to this game with their team down 3-0, so the place could be even louder than game 3. My dream of a resounding “Fuck Embiid” chant in his home arena feels very possible.
