2022-23 Game Thread: Knicks and Celtic-Killer, Evan Fournier vs. Celtics

The Knicks host the Celtics in a game that the Knicks are obviously going to win, to lock in Thibs remaining the coach for the rest of the season. That’s how these things work. Lock it down. Knicks probably win by, like, 10.

How’s the win prediction going? Feeling better about it!

Mitch is out for a couple of weeks with a knee injury. You sort of need a knee to jump like him. Hopefully we see more Obi/Randle lineups, especially since the Celtics are without Al Horford. Hart will start, and Cam gets the start over Grimes, who clearly was not ready to return just yet.

I know most of you are not into horse racing, but the horse that won the Breeder’s Cup Classic today is unquestionably one of the greatest horses to have ever lived. I haven’t seen anything like this since the 70s. What he’s done over his 6 starts is other worldly great. He’s absolutely crushing the best horses in the world even when the pace and trip goes against him. Truly amazing. His name is Flightline!!

Yes. exactly. He’s been great. Keep it up. I still don’t see why Obi can’t play in RJ’s place in some lineups (and eliminate the binary choice of Obi or Randle), but i don’t coach basketball for a living.

I did like that play earlier from RJ where he drove to the hoop, got the defense to collapse on him and passed to a slashing hartenstein. would like to see more of that

Well they’re not hitting 83% from three anymore, but 58% is pretty decent..

I get mad when someone like Hauser kills us.
90% of his shots this season has been from three and we still let him open every time…

My two favorite moments in the game were when Obi lined up a possible three from very deep and the crowd all went “Ooooooh!” (didn’t shoot it), and when Randle dribbled and spun and dribbled and spun and the crowd noise was getting angrier and angrier. (He passed to Barrett for a three.)

Cyber, that’s hysterical. The Celtics announcers are HATING the refs for what they’re calling on their team.

Makes me glad that Clyde and Breen don’t spend time whining about the refs.

As long as we are sending Fournier back to France maybe we can get a package deal to send RJ back to Canada .

Usually i would say that if we keep playing this way, win or lose it’d be a good game. But it’s the Celtics, so forget about that and let’s win this!

Man, with that kind of crap (intentional or not) I can’t believe Randle is that popular around the league.

One the plus side we did scrap with them the whole game even if our perimeter defense was nonexistent and they were hot all night from deep

Well, Boston is gonna go deep in the playoffs. We are not, so … just get the data.

Some bright spots on O. Stopping the three ball? Not so much.

I know there’s some luck in hitting that many threes but there has got to be a better way to scheme against that. Lots of those looks were open.

We shot 51% from the field. 40% from three. 94% from the line. They were just better. 53% from the field. 53% from three (!). 100%(!) from the line.

Sometimes the other team is just better, when it happens you need to be perfect to win the game and we weren’t.

The Celtics are a top team just like the Bucks and tonight we can’t question the effort.

You can definitely see the difference going small makes for RJ and Randle’s ability to get into the paint and finish, especially RJ, who looked so much more in control on his drives.

There’s really nothing more irritating in betting than when you pick unders and they go to overtime.

Take aways from tonight:

1) Boston has good shooters but not all time great elite ones that can’t miss.
2) Hart should start every game as his presence clearly benefits the big three and nothing is lost on the defensive end.
3) Brunson defense is on par with Fournier, at best. He may actually be worse.
4) Cam didnt make a single dumb offensive play all night. I’m impresed. Deserves another start.

I think many people wanted this including me. It clearly was taking him a while to come back from injury, but he’s legitimately good at basketball.

I’m totally down with a switching to a Brunson/Grimes/Reddish/Obi/Hart starting lineup asap… you reading this, Thibs?

Bol Bol had a .271 ws/48 in 9 games in college.I am sure I was intrigued by that kind of mystery box.

Currently leading the league in block percentage.

9-9 is a pretty good night for anyone. Going to be interesting to see how things play out with him.
