Before the inevitable (and justifiable) kvetching about the team —
I’d just like to say thanks for this board, the organizer/s, and the whip smart posters who consistently offer lovely rhetorical diversions that vary my days a little bit.
I hope you all have safe and successful years ahead. Happy Thanksgiving.
Yes, co-signed. In this time of information chaos, fake and lies, this board is an example of evidence based, discussion based methodology for finding a good enough truth. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

This team is getting too frustrating for me. I can appreciate all the talent, but if you don’t defend, the game turns into a high variance 3 point shooting contest. You can beat or lose to anyone like that. The Mavs have a terrific team, but when Doncic is out, we are supposed to beat them. We scored 114 points and still got our asses kicked without Doncic in the lineup. That formula is not going to work. Either the defense has to step up soon or a significant change will have to be made. I have some ideas, but we know nothing is going to happen until they get a look at the team with Precious and Mitch. That can’t happen soon enough because I’m getting sick of these no D players other than OG.
Happy Thanksgiving all !
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Very happy to have missed yesterday’s game. This is quickly becoming one of my least favorite teams. I can’t stand the lack of defense regardless of how our offense looks when it clicks. The promise just makes the letdowns worse.
Mikal Bridges, feel free to step up at any time. He’s on the Fournier career trajectory.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
I am very thankful for this fun and interesting team and this community to share it with.
Happy Turkey Day!
It’s not all his fault, but Bridges is a problem.
If we traded him for a package of DDV, filler and a pick or two, it would be fine. You sit through a bit of a slump shooting, realize he’s not the stopper you thought he was and try to figure out what to do next.
Does Towns have to move to PF with Mitch at C?
Do we have to trade for a 3&D rim protecting PF to pair next to Towns?
Do we trade Bridges for a legitimate wing stopper?
That 3rd option is not really an option. We went close to all in on that trade. IMO we can’t recover even close to what we gave up for him and we can’t play him off the bench. That would be a huge embarrassment for management and hurt his value further.
IMO, the mistake wasn’t getting either Bridges or Towns, it was getting Bridges AND Towns.
We already had Brunson & OG as #1 and #3 scorer. We only needed to add one scorer. We needed a C badly, so I can see going for Towns. But if you do add Towns, you don’t need another 20 point scorer that will be underutilized and not play elite D. You need an elite defender that brings some other things to the table.
For example, Kessler and Bridges might have worked better than Towns and Bridges even though Towns is a much better player than Kessler.
If you bring in Towns, then maybe a Jonathon Isaac or even an Alex Caruso type works better than Bridges.
Unless Bridge wakes up defensively (which to me at this point is more important than his 3 point shot) we have a team construction issue that will have to be addressed. I think management, as well as a lot of other people (including me), overestimated what Bridges brings to the table defensively.
Happy Thanksgiving Knickerblogger Community!
One of the things I give thanks for is that this roster is different from last Thanksgiving’s roster. If it was the same all this season’s past and future posts wouldn’t be half as interesting.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
Happy Thanksgiving to All!
If you didn’t watch the games or know the scores and who was in and out, i.e. just followed the standings, going 2-2 in these past 4 games is probably a reasonable outcome. So there’s that!
It’s more about the way we’re losing in the games we lose. Seems like we’ve become a team that is nearly entirely dependent on 3-pt variance.
I will keep saying it until proven wrong: our losses are going to look like this so long as KAT is at the 5. He is a woefully bad paint protector, period. Like Bargnani-Kanter-Amare bad. He’ll make a few plays based on his size and length, but the instincts and fast-twitch reactions just aren’t there. No amount of perimeter D is going to cover for that.
Thanks to everyone here for tolerating me! And I suppose I should be especially thankful to Brian for not banning me when I’ve gotten close to the edge. Thanks Mike K for keeping this up. And thanks to everyone who provides the content that lets me escape when I need to.
Lastly, thank you to OG Anunoby for always following his best performances with god almighty stinkers. Every time I feel like it’s time to get the diamond-crusted L necklace (and I was getting fitted after Denver), you always manage to turn in a 3-15 performance with less defensive impact than my Aunt Mary.
Extra-special Thanksgiving wishes to the Department of Redundancy Department!!
Bridges for Isaac is actually a very interesting trade idea. Their salaries are almost perfect fits. I’ve shied away from it for two reasons:
1. I’m afraid of how good it would make Orlando. With Suggs alleviating Bridges’ defensive duties at the POA, Bridges would be able to play a more suitable free safety role on defense. And when the offense eventually comes back, a Suggs-Bridges-Wagner-Banchero foursome would be incredibly balanced and terrifying.
2. Isaac is always injured and can’t be counted on.
Bonus reason: It seems like Isaac is a dick.
If you could expand it and get back Isaac and Wendell Carter, I might be interested. That would probably cost us Bridges, Mitch, and a kicker like Dadiet, though. I feel like we could do better than Isaac and Carter for that package.
Here’s a breakdown of KAT’s defensive woes in the ATL loss. This is pretty much what we are getting in every game from him, wins and losses. It’s not good enough.
