I was checking out the Knicks schedule, and the NBA is doing that dumb back to back home games against the same team thing again (Brooklyn at MSG on 11/15 and 11/17)

Has anyone ever heard an explanation for this? I mean the Nets and the Knicks are a few miles from each other, so it’s obviously not travel issues.

I don’t think this is true. If you go back to a thread from, let’s say June, the new yellow avatar is on Doogie’s comments there too. It looks like a simple change of avatar to me.

Cyber you’re right, it’s the same account. So the guy behind Doogie is also the guy behind Clarence? He did a brilliant and nasty job maintaining Doogie’s persona for such a long time, from the Alexis Burritos days, to their back and forth exchanges jamming whole threads, and up to now. Doogie himself would be proud of him. Hopefully he stops now.

For the life of me, I’m not sure why you guys think this. That guy is about as far as could be from me, and we do not now nor have we ever shared an account. But if you think that we’re the same person somehow even though his posts were totally different than mine both in both style and content, then you probably won’t believe me and will continue to think that he and I are the same. Wish you wouldn’t, though, as it is not the case…….but obviously I have zero control over what you want to believe!

    it’s obviously not travel issues

Curious. I wonder if it is some attempt at environmental friendliness. And wasn’t there that study showing excessive travel correlates with injuries? Dunno.

Carbon footprint, and all that. Could be, but I kind of doubt it. If it were that, I imagine they would be making a much bigger deal of the fact that they are doing it for that reason so that they could get “credit” from the general public.

Doesn’t it help reduce the number of travel days? Scheduling it such that there’s a home and home in NYC minimizes travel vis a vis doing a home stand in NYC, an away trip that takes a plane flight, and then another NYC stand at Barclay’s, especially if you do that sort of thing with all the teams that are geographically close to one another. That’s my best guess.

The kindest way to put the Doogie thing is that he’s an acquired taste which I’ve yet to acquire; that said, a fundamentally bigger issue is that the site has turned into a Knicks fanboy site — the “r/Knicks” to which TNFH used to refer Swifty before TNFH went full-on fanboy.

I read a while ago that a season or two ago when they first had back to backs between the same teams, teams reported that they liked it. They got a chance to play a team and then make adjustments for the following game. Teams apparently felt it was a bit playoff like and they didn’t mind doing it occasionally. So i’m not surprised they are scheduling some of them again.

I would still prefer if they would do two “home and aways” between those two sets of teams, rather than two consecutive at one home and then later two consecutive at the other’s home. But I don’t feel at all strongly about it.

It’s even odder in the Lakers/Clippers situation, since they play in the same arena. Then it’s “home” or “away” by designation only. Do they switch locker rooms? It’s a little bit goofy, but again it doesn’t bother me at all.

I will confess to the crime of becoming more optimistic about the Knicks as they went from laughing stock to “team with the 3rd highest O/U in the NBA”

    Shill! Stan!

The Knicks are going to miss I-Hart more than they are going to gain from the addition of Bridges, Mitch is going to break down, the spacing is going to be inadequate between the C position and Randle, Payne will be a negative on both sides and Kolek will be a chair on defense.

We should just blow it up while we still can. You don’t want to wait until everyone knows we are only a play in team.

I hope that adds some balance and conversation instead of talking about all the OT subjects. 😉

    nice strat 🙂

i wonder what we could get for jalen, a boatload of picks, i’m sure, maybe even a decent player or two back also…

“TNFH should be embarrassed that his opinion changed as the facts changed” is about as bad as it gets when it comes to telling on yourself lol

I bet OKC would give us at least 1 pick each for Randle, Brunson & Mikal if we can make the math work.

Hart & Donte could fetch a couple protected 2nds.

OG, let’s say one protected 1st because we all know that no other team would pay anything near what the Knicks paid.

Send out Kolek and Deuce because they’re already too old.

I doubt anyone wants Mitch since he can’t shoot. Probably just buy him out.

Is Dadiet also too old? He sucked in SL anyway.

    Cooper Flagg or bust baby!!!

i wonder what we could get for jalen, a boatload of picks, i’m sure, maybe even a decent player or two back also…

LOL. Is it too soon or too late to build on Kolek Island? 😉

LOL. Is it too soon or too late to build on Kolek Island? 😉

He turns 24 in March and has yet to have a good NBA season. Cam Reddish is 24 right now, does anybody expect him to be good? How about Kevin Knox who just stopped being 24 all of 5 days ago?

It’s a double standard rife with unbecoming homerism. No other fan base has ever even heard of Kolek.

    EB wins…

Edit: oh wait – can we trade thibs too?

Unless we can get Gregg Popovich, why even bother?

Hey now, these are pretty close to my actual opinions. I just don’t belabor them because it’s already on record and not much can change between now and opening day.

Team pessimism is alive and well, E! Viva despair!

“team with the 3rd highest O/U in the NBA”

That sounded a bit high to me, but I suppose it’s reasonable. It’s currently 52.5 and we’re tied with the T-Wolves. I guess the way I feel is that I don’t think we’ll have the 3rd best record in the NBA, but we also might win more than 52.5 games.

“team with the 3rd highest O/U in the NBA”

This is a disingenuous measure. Where I’m looking, it’s a 3-way tie for third and we are as close to 8th as we are to 2nd.

There are two contenders and six pretenders. We are in the latter group.

It’s a double standard rife with unbecoming homerism. No other fan base has ever even heard of Kolek.

Wait. So there is no island? 😉

It feels like a dangerously bi-polar season is ahead of us. We could win it all (my pick) or just as easily have enormous bills at the Hospital for Special Surgery.

At almost every book, we are all alone in 3rd.

And on every single one we are closer to 8th than 1st, closer to 7th than 2nd. We’re the tallest dwarf.

I suspect if you swapped a couple of teams from the west to the east the Under/Over would change enough to drop NY a bit.

Yeah the Knicks are good now, go figure.

What about the Jets and Giants, though? For the Jets, it’s going to be all about if that O-line can hold up.

I suspect if you swapped a couple of teams from the west to the east the Under/Over would change enough to drop NY a bit.

Also this, in the West we would likely be a play-in team

The fact that a surprising number of people post on a Knicks board solely for the purpose of committing to stupid bits genuinely makes me feel better about the various ways I waste my own time.

i can tell you one thing though right now – NO WAY am i predicting a 53 win game season…

    maybe like 52…cuz stuff happens

Noble, barely a day goes by where I fail to gain a life lesson from Knickerblogger.

Admittedly it is frequently, “Don’t ever do that!” Still, that’s a life lesson.

have you never done like party games (clue type stuff)? karaoke maybe?

    ever participated in halloween?

for the record, both my scully onesie and matching fluffy house shoes have arrived…can’t wait to put them on…

yeah, it’s a weird world noble, welcome to it sir…

There are two contenders and six pretenders. We are in the latter group.

they shouldn’t even play the season

It’s not basketball, but I just stumbled across a gobsmack factoid that I thought I’d share. I don’t pay much attention to baseball, and even had to double-check to see what team he’s on now, but I truly did not know this:

“Ohtani woke up Friday morning with 37 home runs and 35 steals, with a pace of 49 home runs (which would match the Dodgers franchise record set by Shawn Green in 2001) and 47 steals.”

There are some very unreal humanoids in the Majors right now.

It’s even odder in the Lakers/Clippers situation, since they play in the same arena. Then it’s “home” or “away” by designation only. Do they switch locker rooms? It’s a little bit goofy, but again it doesn’t bother me at all.

I have to say, I’m kind of disappointed by this. As of yesterday, the Clippers have their own arena. It was christened by Bruno Mars last night. Doogie 1.0 never would have made this error.

At almost every book, we are all alone in 3rd.

That’s just the regular season though, so it doesn’t matter. It’s the mezzanine, unless you win a championship.

Even a championship is just going to be dumb luck and shouldn’t count unless they three-peat.

“I have to say, I’m kind of disappointed by this. As of yesterday, the Clippers have their own arena. It was christened by Bruno Mars last night. Doogie 1.0 never would have made this error.”

I make plenty of factual errors, this being one of them. I don’t follow arena openings closely at all, so I had zero idea that any of that occurred. (And I thought, obviously also incorrectly, that Bruno Mars stopped being someone that most people cared about around 8-10 years ago. Good for him for apparently still carrying some relevance!)

Little Raven had a Bruno Mars moment about six months ago. He’s moved on, however, to 21 Savage and the like, making me yearn for the days — dare I say locked out of heaven…

JK, perhaps we can arrange for you to perform a kidnapping and indoctrination. Just for a few weeks…

I don’t particularly like Bruno Mars’ songs (my kids sure do), but the guy was born to sing and is a great entertainer. He’s not going away for a while.

On an actual basketball note, if occurs to me the Knicks may have waited to sign McCullar to make sure he fully recovered from his injury.

My six year old told me yesterday that the song “The Man Who Sold The World” must be on one of David Bowie’s early albums (it’s on his third) because the cymbals are loud like they are on the song “Space Oddity.”

For the record, I like David Bowie a lot, but this is something he picked up almost entirely on his own. He heard the song “Under Pressure,” loved it, then went down his own Queen and David Bowie rabbit holes. HE IS SIX YEARS OLD.

    What the actual hell.

Bruno really capturing my Knicks fandom

“I know you’re somewhere out there, somewhere far away. I want you back, I want you back.”

The Knicks are good. I was Team Tank for 15 years. It’s ok to be the third best team in the NBA.

I do think there is a fair amount of downside if we get hit with another Mitch injury. It’s hard to have a good NBA team with no one over 6’8.

JK, that is awesome. It would be amazing if my son were interested in Bowie rather than anything in the nexus of airports, airplanes, air safety procedures, frequent flyer miles, etc….
