What the Yankees are learning about the postseason from dropping in on the Knicks’ playoff run

What do the Clippers do now? Is there a chance they really might just let PG13 walk?
Meanwhile, I’m rooting for Orlando to win Game 7, for two reasons: 1)While I can’t imagine them beating the Celtics, I feel like their physicality and defense will more grueling for Boston than a series against these Cavs; and 2)The more disappointed teams with high profile players there are this offseason, the more interesting the league is, and the better it is for us. Not that I particularly want Spida anymore, but just that we want there to be a buyers’ market out there whenever Leon decides to make his big move. (Assuming he still intends to do that, rather than supplementing this core.)
Will you go and get Harden as a free agent, if he’s coming for the mid level? He’s still a very good player (4.1 BPM) and he’ll be huge in NY as the Knicks’ 6th man.
A lot of rumors about PG-13 being Morey primary target, but Aldridge on the Athletic strongly suggested that Phila could and should try to bring back Playoffs Jimmy.
To me this playoffs feel like a kind of definitive changing of the guard, where the 32-and-over (super) stars, while still good players*, aren’t good enough to carry mediocre teams to the top anymore (LeBron, Steph, Durant, Leonard, Harden, George, Butler) and a new wave of in-their-prime/blossiming players is leading the charge (Jokic, Luka, SGA, Ant, Brunson, Tatum and so on).
* All with max or close to the max contracts…
Of the guys you name, only LeBron and Butler ever carried a mediocre team to the top.
You could argue that TNT actually wanted to air NCIS: New Orleans this time.
I really do hope the Magic win. They look at shit if you catch them on the road but they are very good at home. I think they can push Boston to 7 just by winning 3 home games. And their physicality will soften the Celtics up for us.
Boston will sweep Cleveland unless Mitchell steals a game.
And if Mitchell is really looking to switch teams he should skip us and go to the Magic. They have the picks and the cap space to trade for him, and he would fit them like a glove.
I remember a Hollinger article saying that Boston was difficult for most teams to defend because all their players are threats to shoot threes. But a few teams defend threes well without doubling and those teams typically gave Boston a hard time. Orlando is one of those teams.
Hell no.
Clippers are going to pay him a lot more anyway. And Paul George is going to walk.
What time is Sixers/Knicks game 7?
The problem the Clippers have is the new arena is opening this year and you can’t open it with a bunch of no names.
good day to all…
finally caught my breathe from the first round…glad we don’t play til monday…
looking forward to it now…as opposed to dreading near every philly game…
There’s no chance Harden would take the MLE…but I mean, sure. At such a low salary figure he wouldn’t have the leverage you need to become a real headache.
Agree Orlando would be a tougher pre-ECFs opponent for Boston, though sadly I think any chance had at beating Boston went out the door with Bogey anyway.
After such an insane series I appreciate the lull in Knicks games and news, here’s the closest thing we got today:
Yo! Good times friends. I was getting Yanks 2004 vibes but Nova trio + OG are mentally tough. I think the playoff rotation will not expand much. That’s ok because there’s way more rest between games. They’ll be fit and if they avoid the injury bug it should work out and we’ll make the fucking ECF. Goddamn! I’d like to see some precious and maybe Deuce could give Jalen and Donte an extra blow but we know who coach trusts at this point (and none of them have the last name Toppin)
Edwards looking at 107 pts per 36 in this one.
In an ESPN prediction article all 11 writers picked Knicks over Pacers, makes me more nervous now…
These two teams are so fucking good.
KAT seems to have grown up. He’s unstoppable.
It’s so nice to be able to watch a tight playoff game like this without being insanely angry every other posession
This series got interesting fast
Remember when people were wondering whether Anthony Edwards even liked to play basketball or not? And now he’s posting up dudes like he’s Michael Jordan and scoring 40 on the defending champions.
Jokic is happening, everyone turn on the game
I picked the Wolves to win the west, so this is encouraging
Jimmy Butler is running his mouth about the Knicks. L O L
This Wolves team is really, really good. They have a real chance to go all the way with this defense and Ant and KAT carrying the offense.
Conley is a huge upgrade from DLO
That was a super interesting game. Love me some Naz Reid obviously.
Usually the Nuggets power past people late but not tonight.
