    (Sunday, November 04, 2018 8:58:26 PM)

WASHINGTON — It is a fine balance but Knicks coach David Fizdale said he is impressed by the fire of two of his rookies, even if it means the occasional technical foul. (Sunday, November 04, 2018 3:39:37 PM)

WASHINGTON — The Knicks didn’t score 100 points against the league’s worst defensive team and Tim Hardaway Jr., who injured his back, didn’t reach double figures. Back injuries are tricky. If Tim has to sit for a bit, I’ll be curious to see the effect his absence has on the offense. We looked pretty lousy with him hobbled last night, but the Wizards are also more talented than we are and were finally trying after their recent catastrophes.

    Z-man,
Congratulations on completing the marathon. I used to be quite a distance runner having done marathons and up mountain races but that was before major open heart surgery last mid December to fix two congenital defects at age 63. I am back to full time work and made it to the point I can negotiate a 5 or 10K course.

Given the Wizards’ efforts, this felt like a playoff game. It was good to see a young Knick team not get overwhelmed. And they even managed to tie it up late. I’m liking this teams core nature.

If John Wall gave that type of effort every game, the Wizards would be a very different team.

Was this the first time you watched Mitch play?
Take an ice bath. ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY FIVE MINUTES.

Most worrisome part of his game IMO is his free throw shooting. His form looked nice last night (better than previous games). He’s now at 71% FT% for the year. Let’s hope he ends up >70%.

Speaking of his shooting, he missed a bank shot but his form looked fine. It’s not required for him to be a top 10 player but if he’s got a decent jump shot and a jump hook, minds will be blown. He already rates to be the most dangerous lob-dunk threat in NBA history but his offensive rebounding has been incredible. He always keeps the ball alive in that regard and last night he did it against one of the all-time greats in defensive rebounding.

I am not ready to sit here and break down M-Rob’s game. He’s a diamond in the rough and it’ll take a while to polish away his rough edges. For now I’m going to sit back and enjoy watching him run around.

Even with the 1-7 record going in, I never put this game in the “potential win” column. The Wizards are a much better team than the record shows. I’m glad to see that the Knicks hung in with them through most of the game. Wall owned Ntilikina and that was the difference.

A silver lining (other than tank implications) if Timmy’s out for awhile will be that Frank and Dotson will have to be more aggressive on offense. Dot’s already begun to do that the last 3 games (his 3 ball’s been the problem). Frank’s 3 ball has been atrocious but he did have a nice patch last night where he played like we all wanted him to play. Timmy being out should force him to at least try to make that more than just a patch of play.
