2026 NBA Playoffs NBA Finals: Knicks @ Spurs Game 2 – Time to Step on the Neck, and Apply Pressure

It’s really kind of crazy just how much these series have been similar to each other. This one really reminds you of how the Knicks had a hard-fought win against the Cavaliers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, and then just leaned on them in Game 2 until the Cavs collapsed, and the rest of the series was pretty academic after that.

So, well, let’s see them do that again. I would like that very much.

Not great but I’m also not worried at all. There were like three missed free throw calls on our end because nba reffing is a shambles

Poor end to 1st. Still early and never give up on this team but 5 on 6 out there right now.

That was also smothering effing defense by the Spurs guards. Brunson is furious, and trying to foul bait when he can even get off a shot, which isn’t often. And they just did it to Deuce.

It’s a miracle we are ahead under those conditions. Our defense improved significantly in the second quarter and we have too many weapons for them to stop even when they play mixed martial arts defense. Once we control Wemby, that’s enough. We got those Spurs.

Refereeing has been absolutely lobsided and unprofessional at 80-20 home team. This is probably the worst anti-Knicks whistle I have seen in a very long time. I hope the Knicks organization does something about it. It can’t go on like this.

We took most of their best shot (Wemby’s no-show so far notwithstanding), had some all-time egregiously bad calls go against us, and have a lead at the half. The Spurs were looking gassed by the end of the half already, especially Wemby. I’d be nervous if I were a Spurs fan.

It’s so weird to have a Knicks team this mentally tough. I genuinely do not know how to truly appreciate it. Like, it can’t be real, can it? And yet, here we are.

Knicks weathered the storm, KAT kept them close, and then they reasserted themselves despite some horrid officiating.

KAT is such a great guy, he deserves this !!

Two bad calls knocked KAT out of what could have an historic performance from him. He was cruising and the refs said, “nah.”

Winning against these refs, with our guys throwing away a 14 points lead and our best player having a terrible game is very very impressive no matter how.

The KAT-killing by the crooks with the whistles was so blatant…

Brunson has to get his head out of his ass for the next game.

Way too much dribbling and holding the ball against an elite defense like this. Tonight they played like they used to play before the breakout against Atlanta. You can’t waste a single second scanning the floor or dribbling to nowhere against an elite defense like this. Players and the ball have to move or you run out of clock or have to force up a tough shot.

He has to recognize that he has a really tough matchup against these guys. He can’t waste time. It’s not his fault they are great defenders. It’s his fault for playing into their hands.

As always, it’s on Brunson and Brown to get things moving again.

Analytically I fear the Spurs might’ve won tonight.

Well, at least their coach is not a clown like Atkinson and Nurse. And that’s why we should keep being focused, the job is going great but we need to keep focused until we get the 4th win.

I know it’s the finals, I know it’s super physical, and I know the home team gets the calls. What I witnessed tonight, however, is way beyond that. That OG 3pt foul no call right in front of the official was something to remember. It’s a miracle we won tonight.

The Spurs fucking mugged Brunson all game, got a bunch of bullshit calls, and we still won. The two fouls on towns to put him in foul trouble was so blatant.

But fuck it. We won.

The thing is teams have been doing this mug Brunson strategy for four straight years in the playoffs now but now we’ve experienced it so much we know how to win even when they do it, especially with the new KAT.

Mikal was also so fucking huge tonight. That stretch when JN and KAT had to sit and Mikal just got us bucket after bucket. Fuck them picks indeed!

Giving up the 14 point lead was bad but again we had everyone working against us tonight and we still found a way.

Spurs have to be demoralized now but we gotta keep the pressure on and go up 3-0. Time to put the kiddies to bed!!!!

I was really doubting Brown’s decision to go to Mitch for KAT for the last two defensive possessions, and damn, did Mitch play those things perfectly.

Brunson did not have a bad game. The spurs assaulted him all game.

I don’t have an issue with Brunson’s shot selection, and he was mugged throughout. I felt he could have played off ball a bit ball. But they tried it a few times during that bad stretch and ended up missing shots.

Remember when we were all ready to run KAT and Mikal out of town on a rail? We are all idiots. Every last one of us. Except ptmilo.
