2025-26 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Nuggets

Now is the time for a STATEMENT WIN!

The Knicks host the Nuggets, who look like perhaps the second-best team in the NBA right now (just that they’ve had so many injuries they never have a full lineup), but the Knicks have played them well, so a win tonight would be huge in terms of feeling good about the Knicks’ chances when the make the NBA Finals this year.

Let’s go, Knicks!

Wins in a row hitting eight sure feels great!

I’m glad we are sitting still (thus far) on the trade deadline.

Unless of course Dallas really wants to leave their troubles behind and swap Cooper Flagg for Guerschon Yabu. Other than that, let’s roll it back.

1

if we do stay pat at the deadline and then maybe pick up a player during the “buy-out” phase of the season – i wonder who we cut…

Seems to me the East got stronger with this flurry of trades. Washington may or may not be making great trades, but they clearly won’t be tanking next year and even if only one of Trae or AD works out it will be a big help. The Nets won’t be tanking next year, Boston probably improved, Detroit got help and Cleveland may be better too. And I’m probably forgetting another team that tried to improve. I am leaving Chicago out of this because they made so many moves I have no idea how to analyze it.

@Fullcourtpass

The Wizards reached out to the Knicks about a similar framework for Karl-Anthony Towns that landed them Anthony Davis, per
@JakeLFischer

So Towns value is Middleton . Bagley , seconds and late 1st..

Yeah. It sounds like the Wizards would have preferred KAT, but couldn’t get him for that price.

Diawara is in, Z-man. I thought that’s who you were referring to when you wrote “Thanks, kinda shocking after how badly he turned that ankle…” after I posted the lineup. Anyway, he’s good to go.

Weren’t those two 1sts pretty terrible?

One of them is the 30th pick this year , so yeah not great

I wonder if being a Knick has gotten in Clarkson’s head. His hands have never been this bad and he loses his dribble way more than I’ve ever seen him lose it over his career

The announcers talking about Adelman playing Jokic more than than the minutes restriction are making Adelman sound like like Thibs when it comes to player minutes

wait what, how are we losing already…oh yeah, jalen keeps turning the ball over and clarkson is clarkson…

new backcourt please…

Yeah…Brunson has some mental shit going on…and the amount of dumb fouls from others is painful

The 2025 me would say the Knicks are about to go from a 7 game winning streak to a 3 game losing streak but I assume we’re still winning tonight despite that embarrassing end to the 1st quarter.

TNFH despite a couple of recent bad home losses the new coach at UM is doing a pretty good job it seems.

You talkin’ to me, geo?

Don’t know who’s going to win this, but it might qualify as most aggravating game if the year…

Finding Mitch for alley oops makes me so happy.

But Landry makes me just as happy. Looks amazing

TNFH despite a couple of recent bad home losses the new coach at UM is doing a pretty good job it seems.

Yeah, after last year’s disaster I’m just happy to have a watchable team again. Hopefully we catch fire and make the tournament, because I think some guys (primarily Henderson) could be legit prospects.

It’s a shame Clarkson probably is not cool with a “you usually won’t play, but stay ready” role, because he seems good at it

BTW going back to the discussion earlier today this quarter so far is further proof why another ball handling guard should be the priority.

hmmmmm yeah, seems a bit more a lecherous grin, maybe a puppet or superhero porn fan…

like he knows something good that most of the rest of the world hasn’t really figured out…

Weird how the no-call on the offensive foul to Brunson left the entire announcing crew totally quiet…

I didn’t notice is there a female ref in this crew? That’s usually the Knicks kryptonite.

I’ve lost the ESPN announcing. Is it just me?

Ah, tiny note in the upper right — Technical difficulties…

Bridges and those picks keeping the Knicks from advancing talks with the bucks,,,

If you look at the team stats Knicks should probably be up way more, hopefully they’ll have another great 3rd quarter that has become routine during this streak and have a fairly comfortable win in the end.

murray’s halftime line inspired me to look up who scored the most points ever alongside a non-points tony snell. 37 points and it was a knick.

MB going deep with the bench tonight…was pretty sure we’d lose this game a couple of weeks ago…

limit turnovers and do a little better job rebounding and we may win…

So much for my hope of Knicks coming out after halftime and playing a great 3rd quarter.

mo has looked good on offense but he’s missing his help responsibilities on the other end

12 hours ago I was merely hoping we’d get some mo’ Diawara at some point during the season. Are his ankles made of steel?

mo has looked good on offense but he’s missing his help responsibilities on the other end

He’s been backdoored a few times too. If I’m not mistaken, that’s what happened when he twisted his ankle yesterday.

Valanciunas needs to carry a double-bladed battle ax. Or a war hammer.

“12 hours ago I was merely hoping we’d get some mo’ Diawara at some point during the season. Are his ankles made of steel?”

I was thinking rubber…

I remember when Mikal was traded and the thinking was that he would run the offense when Brunson sits. He’s still option #4 when he’s sharing the court with Kolek, Clarkson, KAT and Mo.

How the fuck is Houston down 7 at halftime to Celtics playing 2nd of a back to back with Brown not playing.

Kolek has been exposed these past few games…freaking Bruce brown is making him pickup his dribble when he just gets past half court…no bueno

Bridges looks awful tonight. Didn’t get the rebound and looks scared on offense. But with no Hart, can’t trust Clarkson and Diawara to close so stuck with him

Two bad Brunson offensive possessions to end the quarter. First jumping up and passing to Bridges with only a few seconds left on shot clock. Second shooting a shot with time left on the clock. We’re lucky Jokic missed that shot

That last miss wasn’t a problem, it was the possession before up 2 and winding up with a horrible possession leading to Bridges flinging a desperation 3pter at the shot clock buzzer.

It looks like Brunson didn’t want a timeout there, not sure why. We had no transition advantage.

Considering the schedule this weekend it would behoove the Knicks to find a way to win this game

Bridges doing everything he can to make us lose this game.

Did the bookies get to him? He own money?

Dumbest foul in recent memory but a bullshit call as Braun wouldn’t have gotten the bound

1

I don’t know that I’ve seen a player ruin a team’s game as much as Mikal did tonight.

I can’t blame the refs, Mikal basically dared them by using his enormous arms to two-hand shove a guy. We would’ve won the game if Bridges just sat on the court.

Absolute horseshit call. Contact had nothing to do with the outcome of the play, game was over. Refs the worst part of the sport, fucking ridiculous.

Awful call by Brown. Let Brunson or someone else take the shot. Alley oops rarely work there

That was epic level bad last play.

I think we’re all comfortable calling this Mikal’s worst game as a Knick.

When the Knicks go into next week on a 3 game losing streak barely holding on to the 3rd seed we know where the turning point of the season occurred…

It was a foul, but it never gets called. It had no material impact on the game. Stupid stuff.

I would like to announce that this is the first Knicks basketball I have watched all season

Nuggets training staff about to walk out, total disrespect for their minutes restriction!

jalen has been phenomenal, the team is exhausted, stopped moving on offense, and he’s taking them on his back

3

They refused to call some offensive push offs on the Knicks as well, which was mystifying but welcome. Just highlights how colossally fucking stupid that call on bridges was

Thank goodness. The announcers were talking like the Knicks had it with 22 seconds left. I did not share their confidence.

1

Winning by 7 in the second OT is better for their SRS anyway than the deserved 2 point victory in the first OT.

Great Knicks win but this 4 games in 5 nights, with 3 games against playoff teams is so fucking unfair. We were screwed after winning the Cup and now a tough back-to-back on the heels of our winning streak. Fuck Adam Silver and these schedule makers. They must truly hate Dolan

How the fuck are Boston in Houston up 23 late in the 4th without Brown??? They’re really beginning to annoy me.

All’s well that ends well. Glad Mikal mad that shot just for his psyche going forward.

I’m surprised that Denver didn’t go hack-a-Mitch even once…

I honestly think the ref made the correct call on Mikal. It was a blatant running shove that was totally unnecessary.

2

Yeah, I think you could say there was a real chance Braun could have been in a position for a putback maybe, if Bridges hadn’t mauled him.

Not in actuality but close enough I can give the ref, who isn’t watching the clock, the benefit of the doubt.

I thought this may have been Mitch’s most impressive defensive performance of the season. He was insanely good. He seems to be getting his mobility back.

Problem on that play if I recall correctly Bridges was on his man but saw Braun crashing free so he moved towards him trying to block him out.

“Problem on that play if I recall correctly Bridges was on his man but saw Braun crashing free so he moved towards him trying to block him out.”

Yes, but he could have just put his body on him, and instead gave him a running shove. right in the middle of the lane with no one around them. It was a blatant foul, and if it wasn’t called, Denver would have a legit beef.

It definitely helped up that Watson pulled up lame, that kind of balanced out not having Hart or Deuce.

Probably the only slightly annoying thing about this win streak is not really being able to gain ground on the Celts, who have also won seven out of their last 10 games. And tonight they were barely even trying to win.

That was an absolutely inexcusable blunder for someone who wants to be one of the leaders or good and experienced players of a serious team. Not to mention his poor shooing yet again, his more than frequent poor performances this season as well as last, his admission about not being coachable, and so on. I see no point in defending Bridges at all. Zero. In my book, not only did he not deserve the ransom the Knicks paid to bring him in, but he also does not even play up to his current luxurious contract.

wonder man is turning out to be an excellent companion pice to the knight of the seven kingdoms…

kinder, gentler looks at two popular genres…

I see no point in defending Bridges at all. Zero.

How about he leads the entire team in BPM and VORP and plays every fucking game big minutes. Is that any reason to defend the guy? Maybe?

You guys have some fine hot takes. The guy played a poor game by his standards and a brain fart.

Again, the thoughtlessly isolated BMP averages. We’ve been through those how many times. Yeah, put the shoulders of a man in the oven and the legs in the freezer. Somewhere in the middle of that dead body you will measure normal body temperature. Even simpler: look at the trees, e.g., the BMP and so on, and miss the forest. Oh well.

Bridges didn’t simply have “one bad game” and does not have one here and there. Quite the contrary! Unless we have been watching different players. Good that you mention ‘by his standards.’ It should he ‘by the standards expected but not met.’ Also, please keep the brain fart labels to yourself. You can do better than that.

That’s how statistics work. Every one of his broad metrics are good to very good. He shows up every night. He shoots the ball efficienty (.596ts% over 20,000 minutes). He and OG are the only 2 way frontline players on the entire team and somehow he sucks.

He’s not Scotty Pippen, but wtf.

Dalen Terry, no draft capital. Yabubu has been kissed.</blockquote

I was sure this was a spell check good or typo, but that is actually how Terry’s name is. The Bulls reaction apparently is “The good news: our Chicago Bulls have added an actual frontcourt piece via trade! The bad news: it’s just Guerschon Yabusele. ”

I’m actually kind of impressed with our trade. Dalen Terry seems like the Bulls’ version of Pacome Dadiet, but still, if you squint, there is hope he could be useful. I wasn’t expecting to be able to trade Yabu without paying something so this is nice and a good job by our front office.

I sure do love statement wins!

And I continue to love Mitch so much!

The Knicks really seem to have Denver’s number. It’s fascinating.

But yes, what the fuck, Boston, how can they be fucking pacing the Knicks as the Knicks win eight in a row?!?
