2024-25 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Nets: Time to Get Over .500!

After an embarrassing, but much-needed, win in their first matchup, the Knicks now need to make a statement and kick the Nets’ ass tonight.

How in the fuck is this also a home game?! What a fucking stupid schedule.

Towns is playing, so he should feast tonight against the weak Nets’ centers.

Let’s go, Knicks!

Looking at a possible layoff from work tomorrow so need a win tonight! 😂

I still don’t feel like we have an adequate explanation as to what exactly happened to Ben Simmons, who was at one point one of the best finishers in the NBA and is only 28.

It’s all good. Part of being a union electrician. I’m planning on taking the rest of the month off if I do. Plus I’m playing in my first ever WSOPC tournament on Thanksgiving in North Carolina. It will give me time to tune up. 👍

How about we play some defense!?

I noticed the Seahawks game was close and near the end so I watched the last minute before turning to the Knicks. I don’t watch much football these days, so I have a question for you football aficionados out there. The Seahawks scored a touchdown to go ahead by two points with 12 seconds to go. Then they kicked the extra point to go up by three. I would have gone for a two point conversion to try and ensure the other team needed a touchdown instead of a field goal. Any thoughts?

So much for hoping Knicks would come out with energy and intensity after that embarrassing 4th quarter on Friday, instead they’re coming out treating this game as if it’s preseason.

Anunoby stepping into a 3 off that fake instead of mid ranger is a welcome change. I think Thibs specifically mentioned trying to drill that into him.

Noah Clownley-ing us. (who are these guys?!! and will we have a player on the floor with all these fouls)

Huk plays basically the whole second half the other night, and doesn’t see the floor here. Strange.

3rd game in a row that we don’t look any better than a tanking opponent

Check Bondy’s tweet in the previous thread, Thibs’ pecking order is unchanged… ☹️

Thanks. I guess I don’t understand why Sims didn’t play that much on Friday then.

Pacome has good defensive instincts for a teenager.

Dadiet’s defense looked pretty good.

Edit: As Marechal just posted while I was typing.

bidiong, best of luck with that!

-there is no way that Kolek displaces Payne in the rotation
-as marechal and KFNINJ pointed out, Dadiet has good feet on D

Lol, Dadiet is navigating screens better than Mikal. Really impressed by his all around defense (repeating myself, KFNINJ and Zman).

The recurring theme of Knicks’ positive runs while Brunson is out makes me unconfortable…

Yup guys, Dadiet’s showing some defensive chops…

More like it, but I’m with Hart on that being a goal tend and am mad the highlight was stolen from him

In re Huk, according to Hahn, Thibs cited Sims’s “rim protection numbers.”

Best I could find:

Sims dfg% is 33.3% within 6ft of the rim.

Hukporti is at 40%.

KAT at 77.8%.

interesting watching the knicks go on some recent runs with jalen resting on the bench…

I know out post season success is going to be tied to jalen – it’s funny though that he sucks worse than cam.payne right now 🙃

Even if that quick pull up is money, I wish Mikal would go to the basket a little more often. I can’t recall a single free throw he’s had this season (I’m sure he’s had some!).

I’ve never been worried about Bridges’ jumper because it’s been ironclad for the better part of a decade, but I do still want to know what it looks like when he takes a free throw.

Aggressive OG is best OG.

Maybe Bridges just decided to shoot midranges as well as KD and all will be fine. He’s shooting 60% from 3-10 feet, and 58% from, 10-16 feet. That’ll do.

Even their good defensive possessions end up with points for the opponent so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If Brunson was playing great and the rest of the team shitty I’d be way more worried than the other way around

League seems to have figured Brunson out. Just put a long guy on him, press, and double late

The good news is that we have so much scoring depth Brunson can have a half like that and we can still have the lead. The bad news is something may be amiss with Brunson. Either the league has finally figured out to slow him down or something else is not right.

Yeah, only 18 3PAs allowed is fine. Nets hit almost half of those, which is what has kept them alive.

The Knicks fouled a lot, which I thought was a bigger issue this half.

I just saw on twitter that Towns now has the franchise record for 3s made by a center in a single season
