2021-22 Game Thread: Knicks @ Cavs

The Knicks head to Cleveland to face the Cavaliers with a really great chance to get back to .500 against a shorthanded Cavaliers team that is missing two-fifths of its regular starting lineup, as Lauri Markkanen and Jarrett Allen are both injured.

The Knicks will be down Mitchell Robinson (Nerlens Noel is luckily back so he’ll get the start), but luckily Kemba Walker is starting.

Knowing the Knicks as we do, I imagine we’ll see them win this one to get back to .500 to make things extra hilarious and guarantee that they’re going to go all out for that play-in game. But hey, that’s going to happen anyways, so let’s get some wins then!

Let’s go, Knicks!

2021-22 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Reggie Jackson, Marcus Morris and Three Ballboys in Clippers Jerseys

The Knicks host the Paul George and Kawhi Leonard-less Clippers at the Garden in a matinee that the Knicks desperately need to win to keep their playoff hopes alive (and since they’re never going to rebuild, we might as well root for the playoffs).

2021-22 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Pelicans

The Knicks take on the Pelicans in an absolutely must win against this awful Pelicans team, although to be fair, they at least have Brandon Ingram back.

By the way, could Nerlens Noel get healthy, please?

Let’s go, Knicks!

2021-22 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Timberwolves

The Knicks host the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are now MOSTLY healthy, so this might not be as easy of a win as it should normally be, but at the same token, the Knicks really need to win this one.

Kemba Walker returns to the Knicks tonight. It’ll be fascinating how he is used tonight. I guess Grimes loses playing time, right?

Let’s go, Knicks!

2021-22 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Hornets

Thank goodness the Knicks are once again hosting MLK afternoon games. It was so weird when they lost those games.

Anyhow, the red-hot Knicks host the Hornets with a chance to move up in the standings. The Hornets are luckily probably going to be without their star point guard, LaMelo Ball, tonight, which is quite fortuitous for the Knicks! This should give the Knicks a very good chance at winning this one.

Kemba Walker, though, will sadly miss this matchup with his former team. Seeing him play against another one of his former teams, the Celtics, this would have been fun. Sadly, Nerlens Noel is also out today. That knee of his has been a problem this year. The Knicks really haven’t had healthy Mitch/Noel this year, which is as a shame as that’s such a key part of their defense. Luckily, Mitch has been so good recently that it has still mostly worked out.

As for the poll, Alan wanted to know this one…

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

2021-22 Game Thread: Knicks @ Hawks

Sorry, thought it was an 8pm start.

Let’s go, Knicks!

ESPN.com: Hawks Cleverly Trade Sleeper Agent to Knicks Ahead of Saturday Matchup

From Woj, who came up with a different headline for his actual article:

The New York Knicks are acquiring forward Cam Reddish in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks, sources told ESPN on Thursday.

The Knicks are sending forward Kevin Knox II and a 2022 first-round draft pick via the Charlotte Hornets to the Hawks for Reddish, Solomon Hill and a 2025 second-round pick, sources said.

Reddish, the 10th pick in the 2019 draft, was the victim of an overpopulated Hawks roster of talented young wing players. That ultimately left him without the role or pathway to a contract extension — and the Hawks made it a priority to move him ahead of the Feb. 10 trade deadline.

I dunno, like so many moves Leon Rose has made so far, it’s just sort of…fine. Not great, not awful, just sort of okay. Reddish has not been good so far in his NBA career, but the Charlotte pick, as we noted at the time the Knicks traded the #19 pick for it, isn’t some great asset, either, so seems fair enough. A likely late second rounder is about what Kevin Knox is worth, so fair enough there, too, and maybe the Nets collapse and that second rounder in 2025 could be good, at which point Rose will trade it for a 2028 second-rounder.

Reddish could obviously turn things around in his career, as he’s still pretty young and the Knicks have the rest of this season to see if they want to extend him or not. So it’s all…okay. It’ll be interesting to see if this is a precursor to a later trade, though.

As part of our legendary poll content…

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

2021-22: Knicks vs. Dallas Knicks

The Knicks get Nerlens Noel back, which is good news.

Also, Frank Frank Frank Frank.

Let’s go get to .500, Knicks!

2021-22 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Spurs

Whoops, sorry, folks, I thought they were IN San Antonio tonight, so a later game start. My apologies.

Hopefully the Knicks start the game on time, if you know what I mean!
