2022-23 Game Thread: Knicks vs. OKC Thunder and Future Knick, SGA

The Knicks host their future star player, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, on this Sunday matinee game, along with SGA’s soon-to-be-former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, as soon as Sam Presti convinces the Knicks to give him all of their first round picks in perpetuity (okay, for as long as they’re allowed to give them. Thank you, Ted Stepien!).

We all know how the Knicks work. They have to play JUST well enough so that Thibs will never get fired, so I imagine that they’ll pull this one out so that they will be 6-5 headed into the West Coast trip.

Let’s go, Knicks!

2022-23 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Pistons – At Least Detroit Doesn’t Shoot Threes Well

The Knicks somehow are hosting the shitty Detroit Pistons for the second time in the first twelve games. That’s weird scheduling, right?

The Pistons have been playing a bit better than their awful first meeting against the Knicks, but they still don’t shoot well and they don’t play a ton of defense, so this should be a nice respite for the Knicks and, paired with the next game against OKC, a prime chance to get over .500 before their West Coast Trip.

And since anything short of, like, a ten-game losing streak is not going to change the Knicks’ front office’s view about this team, we might as well continue to root for wins, so, well…

Let’s go, Knicks!

2022-23 Game Thread: Knicks @ Stupid Nets – How “Cool” Are the Nets Now, KD?

The Knicks head to stupid Brooklyn to take on the stupid Nets and their stupid superstar player, Kevin Durant, who hilariously is probably miserable with the Nets right now, as his stupid fellow superstar, Kyrie Irving, is suspended due to an inability to say “The Holocaust was not faked by Bill Gates and Michelle Obama,” so the Knicks head into Brooklyn off of a big win over the stupid Minnesota Timberwolves (who I bet will be firing their coach like the Nets any day now) while the Nets have a worse record than the Knicks, which is hilariously awesome.

Suck it, KD, you dummy!

HOW’S MY WIN PREDICTION GOING? I am feeling pretty good – my whole prediction was on the Knicks being a roughly .500 win team that will beat up on tanking teams later (as well as stupid teams like the stupid Nets) to get to 49, and that looks like it is precisely what is happening!

Stupid Nets.

Let’s go, Knicks!

2022-23 Game Thread: Knicks @ Timberwolves, Thibs’ Revenge Game

The Knicks head to Minnesota to take on Thibs’ last team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are struggling with their offense with pairing Towns and Gobert in the middle and weak outside shooting.

Grimes and Mitch are both out again, so hopefully Cam Reddish plays well again in the starting lineup. Jericho Sims with the surprise start against Minnesota’s Twin Towers! Hopefully he does well.

Let’s go, Knicks!

2022-23 Game Thread: Knicks and Celtic-Killer, Evan Fournier vs. Celtics

The Knicks host the Celtics in a game that the Knicks are obviously going to win, to lock in Thibs remaining the coach for the rest of the season. That’s how these things work. Lock it down. Knicks probably win by, like, 10.

How’s the win prediction going? Feeling better about it!

Mitch is out for a couple of weeks with a knee injury. You sort of need a knee to jump like him. Hopefully we see more Obi/Randle lineups, especially since the Celtics are without Al Horford. Hart will start, and Cam gets the start over Grimes, who clearly was not ready to return just yet.

Let’s go, Knicks!

2022-23 Game Thread: Knicks @ Sixers – Quentin Grimes Is Starting, People! This is Not a Drill!

The Knicks head to Philadelphia to take on the Sixers, a game after Philly discovered that James Harden will be out for a month with a tendon injury in his foot. Joel Embiid is also OUT tonight.

The Sixers’ lineup will be:

Tyrese Maxey
De’Anthony Melton
Montrezl Harrell
Tobias Harris
PJ Tucker

Expect Maxey to shoot the ball about 100 times.

If the Knicks can’t beat this lineup then, well, I dunno, man.

Let’s go, Knicks!

2022-23 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Hawks, Quentin Grimes’ Home Opener!

The Knicks host the Atlanta Hawks as they welcome Quentin Grimes back. I find it hard to believe, though, that Grimes will play much, as he has missed so much time that he’s unlikely in game shape just yet. Still, great to have him back!

It is always fun when the Knicks beat the Hawks and MSG Public Enemy #1, Trae Young, so let’s hope that they pull it off tonight!

HOW IS MY WIN PREDICTION DOING? It’s still doing okay, but a win tonight would be a big help.

Let’s go, Knicks!

2022-23 Game Thread: Knicks @ Cavaliers

The Knicks head to Cleveland to take on the team that decided TO trade a gazillion future draft picks for Donovan Mitchell.

I really, really want the Knicks to win this game. Just to shut up the Donovan Mitchell noise.

How is the win prediction looking? I think 49 wins still looks solid. Yes, the Knicks aren’t as good as, say, the Bucks, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t feast on the lesser teams while stealing a win here and there from the teams that aren’t as good as the Bucks. Hopefully tonight will be one of those such games!

Let’s go, Knicks!

2022-23 Game Thread: Knicks @ Bucks

The Knicks head to Milwaukee to take on the Bucks, who are a strong test for the Knicks following a string of shitty-to-mediocre opponents.

The site was down for a bit. Hopefully it’ll be up for the whole game.

How is my prediction going
I’m feeling great with my 49 win prediction.

Let’s go, Knicks!

2022-23 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Hornets

Three home games in a row spread out over a week is weird, right?

In any event, the Knicks have a big game tonight, hosting the mediocre Hornets in front of a stretch of tough games. The Knicks have shown that they can beat up shitty teams, but being able to also beat mediocre teams would go a long way towards making my win prediction come true and, really, isn’t that the most important thing overall?

Let’s go, Knicks!
