After all these years there are a lot of things to say,
but it’s 5:45 AM and the wolves are howling here in the Dolomites, they’ll have to wait..

Good morning Knickerbloggers!

Am I the only one here who feels like a 100 tons weight has been lifted off his back?

Adrenaline finally lowered and I took a 2 hours nap around 11 AM, meanwhile my cellphone exploded because all my NBA loving italian friends (none of whom are Knicks fans) sent me congrats messages 🙂

For reasons not worth discussing here and now, I didn’t post much this year (like in “not at all”) at least until the Finals, so to make up for the lost time I’m gonna fill up your threads in the next few days 😉

But first I just want to send to all of you my Knickerbloggers Brothers around the world an heartfelt THANK YOU.

Thank you to the regular posters, the part timers, the lurkers, the passers by, to our fallen friends who I’m sure are watching all of this from a better place.

Thank you for all the things you shared and taught me over the years.
All the music, the TV, the movies, the recipes, the deep thoughts, the laughs, the basketball, the LIFE…

Random thoughts Knicks Edition:

– The refereeing in the Finals has been at Tim Donaghy Scandal level, Wemby’s non-flagrant followed by the uncalled poke in Mikal’s eye were so mind boggling there should be an investigation.
We basically won four games of 5-against-8 and we barely lost a fifth.
Our guys were heroes to do that.
And Adam Silver should be ashamed.

– It was a team effort all year long.
Every player helped with his brick, big or small, to build this dream season, but Jalen Brunson, Captain Clutch, flies in another stratosphere (despite his ego and sometimes annoying hero-ball 😉 ).
Please come telling me again that the clutch gene doesn’t exist 😀

– A thought for Patrick Ewing now that JB climbed over him in the Greatest Knicks Ever Pantheon.
You’re a great player Pat.
When you were in your prime they were never able to give you a Robin to help you climb to the top and then injuries (and undeserved suspensions…) hit at the wrong time.
I love Starks, I love Oak and all the 90’s guys, but give to peak Ewing an equivalent of what KAT is to JB and this drought would have been over earlier.

– James Dolan and his friends are a thorn in my side and I’ll never thank him for anything.
Fuck James Dolan.

– I get the analogy between Brown/Thibs and Torre/Showalter but, while I think there’s a non zero chance that Buck would have won a ring if given the chance for another couple of years, I think we would have never hit the jackpot with Thibs.
At the same time I think Thibs deserves a lot of credit for this, he built the cultural foundations and put us back on the map, so kudos and respect to him.

– Same topic, different side of the coin, Brown did exactly what “we” (or at least “I”) Thibs’ critics asked forever:
less emphasis on the regular season, rest your main guys when possibile, play the bench more so they’re ready when it matters, more KAT as a creator in the high post, play faster, a sprinkle of zone defense here and there and so on.
Brown did all of them.
Small things, but the devil is in the details.

– It would be nice to run the whole crew back, but alas it is a difficult task, we were already scratching the ceiling of the second apron and with the yearly raises of the running contracts we should be over, unless every player takes the JB route and re-sign/restructure for less money.
Anyway we have great capologists in charge, so who knows?
