Knicks @ Grizzlies: Return to Me

Mitch is back!

This is a Dylan cover song that was used in the film, Return to Me, but I’m stretching things for such an awesome moment!

Let’s go, Knicks!

Damn you Owen.

A bit worried about this game, but nice to see our two centers ambulatory.

(Sorry Precious, you’re a four.)

It’s going to be blood on the tracks by the time Thibs comes to his senses after realizing he finally has a legit defensive center to put out there….

Thank goodness for Edey. I thought we’d never dig ourselves a hole there.

Glad we’ve started with our trademark thibs high energy

(Grizzlies matching on that though – ok maybe not)

Monica has a great personality and all, but let’s be honest, she’s not a very good color commentator.

Perfect start! We have them right where we want them, well ahead in the first quarter…

Mitch looks like a toothpick, holy shit. His legs look like rookie year.

Monica is good. She’s a lot better than Wally. She’s better than Hahn but I guess it’s close.

There is no replacing Clyde. I have to keep my standards moderate

Interesting. Last few plays Mitch has clearly caused Grizzlies to go “nah.”

Only game I can watch down in Florida is Celtics-Cavs. Quite a game, though. Boston jumped out to a 25-3 lead, Cavs came roaring back to make it 55-52 (and they didn’t do it by leaving their starters in for the entire half).

Mitch looks good. Thibs is going to be forced to play him 40 minutes. The defense is already better. They come inside, see Mitch and change their mind. 😂

I think a slender version is mandatory when your career is threatened by your ankles and feet…

Amazing stat re: Knicks starters and grizzly bench players

(Knicks starters #1 in minutes/points, bench last in both. Inverse for Grizzlies. Crazy)

Deuce’s development is only slightly surprising to me, as he clearly had it in every situation other than coming in for the last three minutes and having to hoist an inappropriate three before time ran out.

A good story in The Athletic about how he’s all about only hitting the net, and gets mad at himself if it grazes the rim.

That ended well but holy hell OG’s layup was ugly

I’m starting to get worried about OG, he seems to be regressing.

Thibs has gone with a 10-man lineup!!

I’m legitimately disappointed that that one putback didn’t fall for Mitch; wanted him to go 3-3.

Great impact by Deuce, not KAT best night so far and we get bad Payne.

OG’s the answer to one of my long standing curiosities: what if C-3PO plays basketball?

Eye test, but Mikal is continually playing great defense, mostly on Ja but on whoever he gets switched on as well.

Everyone playing pretty well for the Knicks except a certain guy whose name rhymes with clowns.

We may lose Mikal at some point in a trade, but I will always remember his pure fade-away midrange.

Rebounds 29-18 Memphis, but they have 10 turnovers against our 5.
KAT is playing like his brain missed the fly from NY.

Give KAT a break, he hasn’t played all season…

Oh wait, that’s the guy who’s outscored him in half the minutes.

It’s amazing how much bigger Edey looks than Towns

That goal ltend was outside the cylinder, easily

Kat tried to block Ja’s jump shot with his forehead. Because, you know, he’s actually handcuffed.

Why does it feel like we have no chance to win this game?

Cuz our starting center is a p#ssy

Funny, no one is gushing about how uninteresting the season would be without KAT tonight…

I don’t know what they’re putting in their gatorade but they look like they’re drinking chamomile tea spiked with melatonin.

Funny thing is that the more alarming trend over the last 10 games isn’t the defense. It’s the offense. Towns has all but disappeared. Bridges is pretty horrendous. OG is invisible. Brunson forcing.

I think I finally understand Pags. His math is bad — he more than doubles any deficit.

Hard to be cheery in that very strange alternate universe…

Well so far nobody on the Griz are beating us, we just have a bunch of players (outside of Deuce) who are either relatively invisible or downright sucking. Plus the Jalen Heroball came a quarter too soon, with the expected results (one and done, one and done…).

Bane cooked Shamet on consecutive possessions but Deuce and (finally) Payne keep us close.
Now if a couple of starters wake up…

I’ve think I’ve seen everything I need to see in just this one game to know what the Knicks have to do in the off season to become contenders.

Yeah Z-man Monica does need to chill. She’s trying a bit too hard. Needs a bit of Clyde’s insouciance.

Thank you Z-man, usually when one of us points out that Brunson has been subpar he goes off.

BRAIN farted, Clarence. Control yourself.

I’m softer on Monica than you guys. She normally does radio, where she has to babble. Probably a hard habit to break.

Mitch did look great and it was nice to see us field a lineup without Jalen and KAT on that final possession. What a win!

Memphis completely threw it away and that is fine with me

Great win. Kinda think we should’ve benched Hart for Deuce on that last offensive possession, they completely ignored him.

A ton of Memphis rebounds were coupled with a ton of turnovers by them. I’ll take it! We defended the perimeter well, closeouts and switches were good, and so was the bench play. Paint protection and rebounding were really bad. Let’s hope Mitch will help in that department. He was +10 tonight. KAT was -11. I am very curious to see Thibs trying Mitch at the five and KAT at the four.

That game made me so happy.

Knicks bench outscores the Memphis bench by one point.

Welcome back, Mitch!

I appreciate that Brunson came through at the end as superstars often do, but he really had a lousy game overall and is a big part of why we were behind all game. So did KAT. Hart was terrible, and Mikal was largely mediocre.

Deuce and OG are the reasons we won this game. They were outstanding on both ends. And Mitch was +11 in 12 minutes.

4-31 (13%) from three is a nice stat.

Don’t know if that was the Knicks or not, but I’ll take it.

Also Precious only played a bit over 4 minutes. Interesting.

I’m visiting India. Starting watching this game 6:30 am Saturday morning from India. What a win! What a morning! Whew. Need a nap. OG and JB stepped up after the early game ugliness. OG is just shaking the rust off. And Mitch was moving well. 20 some odd games left to polish this team off. I believe!

I know foul trouble to Hart and KAT had alot to do with it but the minutes distribution tonight must be a wet dream for the minutes police.

“4-0 vs Denver and Memphis.”

We’re # 4! We’re # 4! We’re #4!

Mitch looked nice and bouncy. If he can stay healthy, we’re going to be tough in the playoffs.

Mitch feels like the best center on the team right now which is a very strange thing to say. Yet…..
