It has been pointed out in some corners of the interweb that the league could have suspended Alvarado, Clarkson, and OG for leaving the bench during the Josh Hart / Luke Kornet altercation. This seems accurate, if not ridiculous. So I’ll let the Wemby thing go 🙂
I trust the Knicks will not be listening to any of the Wemby hot takes. They don’t need to stand up for Jalen Brunson by elbowing Wemby today. They need to play their brand of basketball and have the MFer bending over out of breath with his hands on his knees again. They need to respond to game 3 the same way they responded to games 2 & 3 vs Atlanta. They need to win tonight by 15 and reestablish themselves as the competent men playing the talented boys.
And I need to bury myself in work & exercise to avoid the stress of this all. This is all a bit much. I miss the second round, when it was just basketball, and I could get a seat at the bar to watch a game.
Game 4 vs the Celtics last year is our spirit guide. Knicks played their best game of the century that day after winning first two on road and losing game 3 at home. I want that team, and I believe we will get it.
Retardmaxxing til then.
(This is a real thing, btw! I saw this video online, and I’m honestly not sure if Director got it from the guy who started it or if he is the guy who started it…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93Oy5i04248 )
When they left the bench we had already called the timeout.
Ok last thing before I go to the gym (I swear!)… that youtube clip I posted got me sucked in a little, and there’s this Bill Simmons video about the series…
Go to the 10:45 mark and listen to how casually he speaks about the NBA being rigged! He’s not trying to make a point, it’s not a hot take, he’s just talking about it like it’s understood.
“I bet you have Scott Foster for this game, they’ll try to lay the smack down a little more on the Spurs, and then my guess is goes back to San Antonio, Tony Bruthers in game 5, and they’ll put the Knicks in position to be up 3-2 going to NY, see if they can do it.”
I know he’s “conspiracy bill” and all that, but he’s talking about refs in the NBA finals the same way we talk about starting pitchers in the world series!
Good god I hope he’s not right.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNqFJaznO90
The timeout doesn’t matter, Cyber.
The only thing that matters is if the league determines that a situation meets the threshold of “an altercation”, and they used their judgment to determine that this one didn’t.
I think that’s absolutely correct, but we’ve seen them determine similar incidents to be altercations. So… phew.
OK slamming laptop shut now good bye
I still remember when they determined that a situation where Shaq left the bench DIDN’T count as an altercation. Grrr…
Wait a second. Are you “hubert” with the sheep/goat (I can’t quite tell) avatar and also “Hubert” with the Mitch dunking on Embiid avatar?
JB efficient 40 piece incoming
The stuff of nightmares: At the end of that Bill Simmons thing, a scenario was posited in which the Knicks are up 3-2 and going back to the Garden to close it out……..and then Trump phones Dolan and wants to come again.
They joked about it, but it would suck beyond sucking.
When the league Extended the Lakers/Kings series in 2002, we didn’t have social media, and “clicks” and “views” and “engagement” weren’t things. In the social media age, it’s even more in the interest of the league to Extend, and very much in the interest of the league to have fan “engagement” with various conspiracy theories and even to stoke them.
Before social media, the league probably didn’t even like the fact that some people thought the Ewing lottery was rigged; now they absolutely love it. Just another cash flow — and the iron law of late-stage capitalism is that no cash flow can go unrealized.

When asked about the Wemby shove, I think the Knicks should just put stuff out there today like “we know what to do about Wemby” and “we will handle it” but then just play a totally clean game and kick their asses by getting in their heads.
If we think Wemby can get away with that stuff because our guys went to push the Spurs players after the Hart-Kornet… i wouldn’t call it altercation, it was just a shove. If that’s the same thing, well then Wemby will keep doing it because there’s not a problem in playing WWE style when the clock is on. I DON’T GIVE HIM A PASS, NOT IN A MILLION YEARS.
Take it to Mitch, to see how strong you are, you p*ssy!
Win Game 4, and go up by 20 in Game 5. Then let Alvarado sucker gut punch Wemby. When a fight breaks out, every Knick goes after the Spur who wronged them. Mike Brown then dances on the court doing a strip tease. It’s a remake of Slapshot, but in basketball form.
Additionally at the end you essentially have Tyler Kolek and the reserves beating the Spurs, which is [chef’s kiss].
Good. I dunno if my heart can take another close game. A nail biter on Wednesday will mean I’m screaming at the TV most of the night, which will ruin my voice and I’ve got a show on Thursday.
I need a Knicks win tonight. Waking up at 3:30am to watch these games means it’s the end of the night and is unsustainable for me. Go get them!
Hubert are you still with that lucky charm woman, or did you break up 2 days ago? If that’s the case I’d recommend getting back with her asap.
Honestly I’d bet more on KAT waking up. There seemed a few possessions down the stretch in Game 3 where he was clearly waiting to get the ball back & didn’t get it.
The Spurs are going to smother Brunson, and unless the refs find their whistles when the Knicks have the ball I don’t expect that to change. San Antonio is just not going to let Jalen beat them, by hook or crook.
But they can’t stop KAT if he gets going on the outside and if they put Wemby on him, he can blow past him or pass it to a Knick for a bunny with the paint opened up.
Let’s get everybody’s time zone… here in Portugal it’ll be 1:30AM
And yeah, i now go to sleep 2 or 3 hrs before the game to be fresh to scream at the referees! LOL
Are you able to go back to sleep after the game?
Hubert, I too got it from Marc. Bing Bong baby. Lets GO. Think of me being retarded with my 17 yr old boy when Knicks are up 20 tonight.
Agreed. We need KAT to get back to superstar KAT.
Can we get a bring the ball up court by commission? JB, Mikal and Hart should go back to get the ball and i don’t think the Spurs will put 3 players on our side of the court to apply full court pressure, so the one that is unguarded brings the ball. We need to stop wasting energy, and time, by having JB fighting the full court pressure.
Yes, although if it’s a close game i need 30 to 60 mins talking with you guys to calm down.
But also i’m a strange case when it comes to go to sleep, Lady Cyber says i sleep so effortless that sometimes i get to sleep while i was in the middle of saying something. LOL
Who am I kidding I can’t work today….
Jesus I don’t even remember which one that was. Maybe I should settle down.
I will tell you one thing… my backgammon results have been perfectly correlated with the Knicks’.
You may recall that when the Knicks lost game 3 at Atlanta I complained about losing in the final of a backgammon tournament that night (I got ice cream). Well, I played in that tournament every two weeks since then. I won on May 7th & I won on May 21st. And I didn’t just win I dominated like the Knicks did. I won most matches 3-0 or 3-1. But there was one match where I came back from 0-2, which is like the Knicks comeback against Cleveland.
There’s 5 matches in each tournament, so I entered the June 4th one on a ten match winning streak. I won the first three and lost in the semifinal (to a very good opponent who got a little lucky, just like the Spurs).
So 13 straight wins for Hubie, then a bitter loss.
I tell you all this to assure you that if we are in fact living in a simulation or there is a universal pattern between my backgammon results and the Knicks, we’re in good shape because I won my next match (the 3rd place game) pretty handily, 3-1.
I have not played since then, and I don’t plan to. Partly because I want to be surprised, partly because I can’t handle the pressure of feeling like my results may have some karmic influence on the Knicks winning a championship.
I generally find gatekeeping exhausting and despite having spilled thousands of words over Kadeem Allen personally, I’m mostly delighted the Knicks have taken over the city and people who previously never expressed any interest are now telling me their Jose Alvarado takes.
I make an exception, though, for the morons punching people in Spurs gear and destroying random stuff. No one should ever do any of that, but at a bare minimum anyone who does should have to name their 3 least favorite Phil Jackson transactions.
The odds of us living in simulation is not zero.
I responded to those blaming Brunson for game 3 by pointing out it’s a chicken/egg dynamic… I’m not sure Brunson hero ball is the reason we stagnate or the result of us stagnating… I think KAT and Mikal contributed greatly to what we saw in game 3 by shrinking… but honestly I think the Spurs just overwhelmed them with intensity and Brunson was the only one who could handle it (other than OG, of course). But Game 3 to me was more of a throwback to KAT & Mikal’s bad tendencies than to Jalen’s.
I started these playoffs by asserting we could do great things if KAT & Mikal show up. And boy have they showed up. But I don’t think either of them turned up for game 3. Kill Brunson if you want, but I think hero ball is his reaction to their lack of aggression, not the other way around.
I have faith in KAT & Mikal tonight. Game 3 gave me — and everyone — the worst vibes ever. Tonight gives me game 4 against the Celtics last year vibes. I think they got this, and I think it’s going to be glorious.
All evidence seems to indicate the fans in spurs gear set out to actively agitate the crowd and need to be counted among the morons, if not placed at the top of the list.
And in case the universe needs me to say it: I’m sorry, Mr Breen.
(It would be nice if you had our back, though! Be one of ours tonight, not one of Adam Silver’s.)
For my overseas comrades, Strat, and any others who need to calm down

It has worked for me for past 2 years, including after Monday night’s game.
besides more ball movement, brunson off ball, maybe some Brunson/Alvarado line-ups…I’d like to see on the defensive end us giving Castle a taste of his own medicine. Have Mikal or Hart or OG harass him full-court so the Spurs also have to take their time bringing the ball up. They turn it over a lot. We need to try and push that. Also could have the added benefit of tiring Castle out and he might not full court Brunson every posession.
Of course this does depend on the refs letting us play in their faces as much as they’ve been allowed to play in our faces.
“Have Mikal or Hart or OG harass him full-court so the Spurs also have to take their time bringing the ball up. They turn it over a lot. We need to try and push that. Also could have the added benefit of tiring Castle out and he might not full court Brunson every posession.”
Such a simple idea, yet such a good one. This is the team that we need to try it with, and this is the time that we need to do it. That said, we haven’t been a “harrass opponent all the way up the floor team” pretty much all year, so I don’t know how good we’d be at it if we just start to do it now.
I’m in line for a flight to Mongolia. Should arrive shortly before tipoff!
In Italy it’s gonna be 2:30.
At some point I will tune in and suffer like hell
Deuce is the full court pressure guy
So is Alvarado.
I must say that the Sorsby ruling makes the Silver grift accusations that much more believable….
I hope the Knicks come out more relaxed today. We can’t afford to spot this team 10 points and give them momentum and confidence. We have to take control of the game and put some pressure on them too.
Thanks.
I’ll check it out later. I’m already too nervous to concentrate on learning something new. 😉
Yeeesh, destroyer of romantic dreams.
I think at this point it’s just going to be our best vs their best. No double big, no two PG alignments. They made their move to the 3 guard lineup at the end of game 3, and now it’s up to us to beat it.
That is in fact a disgrace. I always say to my soccer friends that in america you can go with the jersey on to a rival (like Knicks fans in Boston, and vice versa). Please don’t act like europeans do in sports events. I need to go to the stand where my supporters are, or else i’ll be harrassed the whole game. I had an exception the other day, in the Cup Final of women soccer, where Benfica fans (our rival) were among us and FCPorto fans were among them, and all went smoothly. Not at all like this when it’s men’s soccer.
🧡💙
Wow, that’s close, i hope the flight doesn’t have any delay.
Won’t we all? It’s the NBA Finals and the Knicks are in it, just because of that i’m a happy man… but now that we’re so close, team, please give us 2 more games like the 13 games before the last one.
Let’s talk some 4D chess…
Has Wemby not proven he’s a hot head by now?
The move is not to “send him a message”. The move is to keep pulling on his jersey. Keep boxing him out aggressively with small guards. Have Mitch come in and push him off his spot for 8 straight minutes. Because he is not mature enough to handle it.
Do that, particularly when he’s tired after you’ve moved him all over the court with ball movement, and I bet you can goad him into committing another flagrant. Maybe even a flagrant 2.
And this time the league won’t be able to protect him.
Need a way to figure out how to play defense at the beginning of quarters without getting whistled for six fouls in the first minute. Not sure if that’s actually possible.
Bo knows…Bo knows…
nice one sir 🫡
2 things can happen at once – we can beat wemby while beating wemby…
let’s do that…
My take on Wemby’s foul not getting upgraded is that he’s too weak to commit a de facto flagrant 90% of the time. He can pretty much do whatever he wants because he’s so ineffectual at it that the refs won’t call it. Wemby would lose an arm wrestling match to a garden snake.
those are some serious boss flexing type words to type out…flying in to that place must look so cool…
not to try to pry too much…I’ve just never known any magician people before…it’s kind of very interesting stuff…archaic, yet still fresh…
– do you need to practice a bunch, like musicians and athletes do
– do you practice not only on tricks but performance dialogue stuff also
okay, what i really wanna know:
– about how many tricks/illusions do you know
– what age did you begin with this stuff
– do you still get nervous on stage
Hubert, that’s a solid plan, except for one major flaw in your logic:
“And this time the league won’t be able to protect him.”
I’m willing to bet if Wemby is dumb enough to commit a flagrant or even a flagrant 2 tonight it’s getting called.
BTW of all the stupid people on the internet, Draymond might be the worst. I keep getting sent this clip of him saying “I would have stood up for my teammate and gotten thrown out of that game for him.” The only time that guy got thrown out of a Finals game was when he fucked his teammates. Dillon Brooks sucker punched Step Curry in the stomach five months ago and Draymond didn’t do a damn thing. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/2sMXffE93Ro
So, as far as i know, we’ll have KBers in Portugal, Spain, Italy, UK, Slovenia, Greece, Brazil, Israel, China and Mongolia. We used to have in Australia too, I don’t know if that’s still the case.
I want to go on record saying that I was wrong about this Knicks team. When we signed Alvarado I said I thought we finally had a complete Knicks team. The only mild need was maybe a legit backup PF, but I expect Diawara to grow into that.
I now think we need a real enforcer or two. When someone gets overly physical with one of our players, particularly Brunson, it can’t be his father yelling at the opposing player. That really weak. It has to be some big crazy dudes that will step up and threaten that player with retaliation. And if they send out their enforcer, we have to show we can go toe to toe with them.
We have to up our betting game, on FCPorto’s forum that i’m a member when they bet something, they say they’ll do a lap around our stadium running… naked. Would you do it around MSG? 😀
Let’s put it this way. I already dislike this kid more than I ever disliked Reggie, Trae, MJ or any other Knicks villain. He’s an arrogant prick and immature hothead. Anything we can do to ruflle his feathers or put some hurt on him is fine by me.
I’m not so sure about the league not protecting him though.
The elbow he threw in a prior series should have been an automatic suspension, but they gave him a pass. And that’s why he’s doing this other shit now. He knows he can get away with it because they are trying to turn him into the next golden boy money maker.
For me, it’s not as much as how Wemby is behaving. It’s more like how the NBA is unabashedly protecting him. Just call the damn fouls, and the flagrants, and all of this would be fine.
I dunno man. If we had an “enforcer” that enforcer would get called for every flagrant in the book. You can’t win this game with the league’s Golden Boy. The enforcer concept wouldn’t work in this sports exhibition Harlem Globetrotters kayfabe universe the NBA has concocted.
The Generals are going to have to just shoot for a very high percentage.

Free Charles Oakley.
What I don’t get is why Wemby?
I get that he’s super tall and a great talent. But like why are we just annointing someone before they’ve won anything as the new face of the league?
Is it just because he’s European and they want this to be a global game?
I’m biased, obviously, but I feel like the American Point Guard who won 2 national championships, is undersized and was a second round pick but has basically brought one of the first franchises back from the dead and has become one of the best players in the league because of his hard work and intelligence (and also had a dad who was in the league)…I mean…to me that guy is far more relatable and easier to root for than the guy who was gifted with 0.001 genes that makes him super tall. If Wemby was just 7 feet tall no one would give a shit about him.
So why are we annointing him as the new face of the league and basically giving him this huge ego and sense of entitlement? I don’t get it.
But then again, I don’t get much about the types of people that are held up as heroes in our world these days.
on point swifty…
I don’t know, for a seven foot five inch human, wemby is kind of attractive…
one of my favorite, and most satisfying moments of this post-season was watching mikal get some payback on embiid…
seriously, it brought me joy…maybe I’m a bad human, whatever…
wemby just looks the part, big time…I di get it…
it’ll be great to ruin that rising star emergence nba storyline…let the knicks team become the main story…
Exactly everything you said. He’s an incredible talent. He’s not American. He’s a physical freak. He’s easily marketable. He’s got tons of charisma. He has everything you want to be the face of the league. And he’s only 22.
I was a Creative Director for Nike Basketball decades ago and was a small part in helping to shape LeBron’s ascendancy. It was so clear that he had it. All of it. Undoubtedly. And Wemby’s the same.
KD, on the other hand, was very shy and not really media trained at such an early stage of his career. He had to work on his charisma. Amazing player, and really liked him as a person, but I wouldn’t say that he had IT naturally.
Wemby has all of it.
Swift, i’m european and i’m with you on this, so Silver’s plan isn’t going that well. My son is a Nuggets fan because of Jokic, why wasn’t he the face of the league, he’s european! And plays a lot better than Wemby.
“I don’t know, for a seven foot five inch human, wemby is kind of attractive…”
Why would someone be expected to be less attractive just because they’re tall?
He might have all of it but he hasn’t achieved anything yet. If he has it, then he will achieve it on his own. Why does he need the league to help him and protect him?
I just feel like part of this entitlement is because the NBA has hyped him up so much from day one. Let him build his own hype.
Wemby really is the total package, in terms of stardom. Doesn’t mean that we can’t hate him. 😉
He was really quite a bit more likeable before someone (clearly) told him that he needed to develop an “edge.”
The overprotection and trying to force his story into reality is so frustrating.
We did a big launch when LeBron had his 45/15/5 game against Boston to finally make the Finals. We knew it would be a big moment for him because he had to overcome so many obstacles, and that felt like a celebration. Everyone was ready for it.
This whole Wemby favoritism, and how the league is protecting him, feels shady and just wrong, even from a marketing viewpoint.
Just let him play and go through his process. And if he fails, that’s okay! It only adds to his story, IMHO. There’s no need to heavily and obviously tip the scales for him. He’s a very big boy. He doesn’t need the help.
That’s why it’s so frustrating to watch.
Let’s just blow them out early tonight. Take the life and hope out of them. Leave it out of the refs and leagues hands. That’s the easiest way out of this.
Jordan is gone, Kobe is gone, LeBron is in the twilight. The league needs a new wonder boy to rally around.
So why not Brunson? The guy who plays with his college teammates. Who’s dad was in the league and coached him up. Who won 2 NCAA titles. Was a second round pick. People love underdogs?
Or why not Jokic? Who actually is the best player in the league and won a title already. And is European? Giannis? Shai?
Or, you know, maybe the game is better off with no official “face” of the league. Let the teams and the play speak for itself.
I know Nike pushed the shit out of MJ, obviously, but he was also UNDENIABLE, even before he won titles. The dunk contests. The tongue. The scoring talent that was so far ahead of anything the league had ever seen up to that time. You can’t replicate that shit with a marketing campaign.
Also, MJ didn’t win it all till 9 seasons in and it made his dominance in the 90s even more satisfying.
I thought the league wanted parity?
Its just annoying. I get that he’s talented but watching him play it’s like “oh wow, the guy who is 7′ 6″ can just drop the ball into the basket.” It doesn’t really wow me the way an MJ dunk or Jokic or Magic pass does.
Because this is now “managed competition.”
Once capital has to pay players, it expects a return on capital. If pure competition works to provide the best return, great; if it doesn’t, move to Plan B.
Plan B is this.
The movie’s producer typically gets final cut, or at least veto authority. The audience has picked the ending they like best, and Silver and the owners are merely exercising their final cut rights.
Occasionally. Most people actually love overdogs. Southampton FC jerseys don’t sell; Real Madrid and Manchester City ones do.
Leicester won the Premier League in 2016 as something like a 10,000 to 1 underdog, the moment passed, they sold a bunch of their players, sports went on as if it hadn’t happened. No one really sees that as the essence of professional sport.
North American sports owners don’t like salary caps because it “lets underdog cities like Kansas City and Buffalo compete,” they like salary caps because it puts a ceiling on their costs, therefore significantly increasing the value of their businesses.
I personally couldn’t disagree more.
I think being French is a real problem, particularly when his national team is becoming our biggest rival.
I also think he’s too hot headed. We got sick of him in a week. So did everyone in Minnesota and OKC.
He’s going to be better cast as the villain of the league — the guy everyone watches because they want to see him lose.
He reminds me of Roman Reigns. He seemed perfect for stardom, and the company pushed him strong immediately. But people didn’t actually like him when once they got to see him a lot, and they resented the clear favorable treatment he was getting. It got so bad they had to lean into the public hate and turn him heel.
Ironically, if he wins now, it will probably be the worst thing for his stardom, like when Reigns won the Royal Rumble. The league is going to start pushing him so hard, but he’s a whiny, entitled immature, French asshole, and people are going to hate him.
Does anyone understand why NYPD is taking these draconian measures to keep everyone away from MSG? It makes no sense. The same amount of people attended the ECF games and every other playoff game.
Wemby is a dirty player and he’s also bigger than everybody else. I don’t see how that guy is gonna become the face of the league no matter how hard they rig the games for him.
If they backed Brunson like this, protected him the way the protect Wemby, and sent him the line as many times, they would have a much bigger star in America than Wemby.
But they would rather have 15 years of Wemby than 5 of Brunson. And they would rather have the euro star bc that’s where the growth opp is.
truly, with the words we write here – i can feel us breathing life in to this narrative of entitlement and marketing favoritism leading to inequitable competition…
don’t wanna turn a sweet thing sour silver…
Frank’s Feed is fittin’ to find itself in a frenzy with a righteous new york knicks sympathetic slant…
The funny thing is that with the World Cup starting, nobody in France (or Europe) will pay attention to the NBA finals.
Hey, i’m not nobody! 😀
Yeah, I see Wemby becoming the Iron Sheik of the NBA. He is an excellent foil.
I also just don’t find his game to be that compelling. I’m not denying the talent but so much of that is tied to his freakish nature of being so tall. Like it isn’t that cool to see a 7 foot 6 inch guy drop a ball into the bucket from above the rim.
I mean, Lebron was douchey at times but he was a freaking human highlight reel in his athletic prime. The freaking lob pass to Dwade is still one of the most iconic pictures every in the NBA. His block in game 7 of the finals is one of the greatest sports moments ever.
Same with MJ winning shots where he put dudes on skates or him soaring through the sky seemingly frozen in time.
Even Curry pulling up for a logo 3 is more interesting.
Wemby shooting a three from beyond the arc simply because he’s taller than everyone else? Or catching a lob simply because he’s taller than everyone else? How is that interesting to watch?
Even the blocks. Oh, so you blocked a shot? big deal. I could too if I was 7 foot 6.
Wemby could have been the face of the league if he behaved humbly enough. His play style as a gentle giant stringbean who could swat everything in sight while also shooting from midcourt would have been very nice in terms of showmanship.
Except he’s not a gentle giant stringbean, and even with the Spurs being my second favorite team (Manu <3) I grew to despise the guy douchebaggery and overall artifical persona.
When the playoff started I was very much rooting for him. Now I hate him more that I ever hated LeBron, and that's saying something.
So yeah. Perfect villain. Now the League needs a perfect hero, and SGA can't be that. Neither can Luka.
Ant is still trying to become that, but I think he's not that. Cooper? Dybantsa?
Fucking Jalen Brunson…
Make Jeremy Sochan the enforcer. The next cheap shot Wemby or Castle take, put in Sochan, let him elbow Wemby in the solar plexus and accept the flagrant. Has to be well timed in the context of the game. If Sochan gets suspended , let Trey Jamison do the same ( if he is eligible). Since the NBA is not protecting the Knicks, they must do it themselves.
Geo, if fucking Jalen Brunson was your answer to my question, he doesn’t work at all.
I love Jalen but the guy doesn’t have it in terms of general charisma. He’s the perfect NY hero, but to be the face of the League you need a magnetic or larger than life persona.
LOL, I’m so sorry (and for the record, I have a double feature Saturday night with Brazil-Morocco at 6pm and Game 5 at 8:30pm).
But still, almost literally nobody will be paying attention. I would bet a lot that Haiti-Scotland, which is at the same time as Game 5, will have significantly more people watching in Europe than the NBA finals (and I know, it’s the middle of the night).
The NBA is simply not conducive to viewership in Europe, because of the time difference. I basically stopped following the NBA in the 5 years I lived in Europe, because who the hell stays up that late (or early)? (sorry, you do, cyber! And Farfa!)
“geo says:

Fucking Jalen Brunson…”
Huh?
looks good in the dozen or so commercials he’s in…
yes sir – jalen brunson aka captain clutch (and his stay clutch crew) are one thousand percent the correct answer…
Swifty, I am definitely developing a hater for Wemby (one I never saw coming, I somehow completely missed that he was a douchebag until this series), but c’mon, he’s a fascinating freak show to watch, with incredible capabilities. Yes, some of that (much of that) is because of his length, but also because of his agility. We literally have never seen something like him.
I do want to see him get punched in the face, or at least his solar plexus if his face isn’t reachable, but I won’t belittle his talents, because they are otherworldly.
And seriously fuck the Spurs, but hat’s off to them for playing non-stop hard-nosed defense. Even if half of it is against the rules. If they didn’t take cheap shots all the time I’d really be impressed.
Now let’s just beat their asses by 30.
just so you all know, i just deleted some long weird post i wrote to doogie in response to his: what’s wrong with being well above normal human height parameters, and how could that affect an individuals hotness quotient…
no need for thanks, well aware the majority are probably grateful for the respite…
let’s make a guess Bo…
most likely to physically retaliate against wemby this evening:
– jalen
– josh
– mikal
– OG
– KAT
– jose
– deuce
– mitch
first pick: mikal, runner up OG
mitch may do it, but he won’t even be trying…
True, it’s not easy to follow sports at the time NBA games happen in Europe, but my love for the Knicks makes it easy for me. 😉 🧡💙
Wemby’s whole game is to kill everyone else’s.
Like, cool, let’s watch a bunch of games where an alien protects the rim while his attack dogs relentlessly hand check all the ball handlers. I’m sure America’s going to love that.
I dont think Spurs will fuck with OG. I think he has mini Willis Reed powers ,meaning he could knock down 2 or 3 spurs, but do it stoically so as to not draw exteme sanctions.
I just want to remind everyone that a year and a half ago, when you were all typing heart felt well wishes for Wemby and his probably fake blood clot, I said “I hope he dies.”
I always try to tell you guys… I’m not a contrarian, I’m just early.
Now this is an interesting discussion!
I agree with the many takes stating that 1. Wemby’s being pushed as the new golden boy and 2. Silver really wants that to happen because he wants growth in Europe. But I disagree that Wemby has some “it” factor unless you like highly-produced schtick.
Frankly, this whole push is why I want Silver out ASAP. Like many are saying, basketball will never compete with soccer in Europe, and Silver is dangerously ignoring his bread-and-butter market for the sake of this string bean.
Interestingly, the country where the NBA is making the most inroads is probably France, even before Wemby. It used to be Italy, but they’ve settled into enjoying their own league and aren’t so pickme about the NBA. But remember, Americans aren’t so crazy about the French (remember freedom fries?) So those saying Wemby will become an arch villain are probably more likely to be correct.
Meanwhile, Silver should be ecstatic that New York is good again. Sorry to all you Yankee/Giants folks, but NYC has always been a basketball town… we just haven’t had the team building for so long that many have forgotten.
So quick recap: Wemby sucks. Silver sucks. Knicks rule.
Imo Wemby’s biggest talents are:
1 pretty impressive ball handling despite his extreme height
2 FT Line accuracy which is not so usual for a Very Tall C and makes him NOT the best target for fouling
3 ability to stay healthy while extremely tall men before him had all kinds of serious problems
Like it or Not Wemby basketball-wise is already an MVP tier guy despite still being raw as hell.
“Unfortunately” he seems like a dick that deserves a nice humbling in this series
“Swifty, I am definitely developing a hater for Wemby (one I never saw coming, I somehow completely missed that he was a douchebag until this series),”
Totally understandable that you missed it, Raven. He didn’t come into his assholeness until this season, and not really until probably the second half of it. Not really sure what happened there, as it seemed kind of sudden—my best guess is that someone got in his ear and told him that he “needed to develop a persona,” and being young, this asshole persona is the one he chose. It seemed to start when he began to tout himself for MVP. Some people admired that at the time, but he only became more assholey later on.
Imagine the reaction when Wemby pulls this shit against America at the next olympics in LA.
Hell even if he matures by then and has some class, no one’s gonna like him if he’s kicking our ass.
Magicians practice a shit-ton. I would say moreso than either of those two. We almost always have a deck of cards in our hands, or coins, strings, etc. We practice moves with credit cards when we go to pay something. We play with our rings. We always carry SOMETHING on us, because we will get the inevitable “Show me a trick” and you need to do something.
Good magicians do. There are a lot of amateurs and people that just enjoying doing a card trick here and there. And there’s a lot of neuro-divergent people who just like knowing/learning magic but aren’t really performers. That’s all good & has been a part of magic since day 1. (One of the most prolific magic creators was a recluse who almost never performed publicly.)
But yes once you started getting good, patter (blocking, timing, jokes, etc.) start becoming much more critical.
There’s a saying in magic. If you know 100 ways to find a card, but only one way to produce it, you only know 1 trick. But if you only know 1 way to find a card & 100 ways to produce it, you know 100 tricks.
Less now. On stage I only feel nervous when my lines aren’t hitting and the audience isn’t reacting.
For gigs, I do feel nervous/anxious when I’m still learning the layout of the room, the people, etc. Doing walkaround is a whole ‘nother skill.
To me, he reeks of entitled brat. The coaches son who was always told he was the best, he is special, and the rules don’t apply to him, etc. He’s been protected since day 1 (even today!) and he has grown up in that world, so whenever that notion gets challenged — Wemby acts like it’s the other person’s fault for disrupting what he sees as the norm. Add that he never has to account for his bad acts, and Voila!
Side note: I respect KAT for representing the DR but Team USA really needs a big and he probably would be the starting C in next summer’s World Cup, possibly with his two best teammates Brunson & Ant.
Without him, the best American C for int’l basketball is likely, um… Chet Holmgren?
don’t tease me with these great old timers and sydney pre and post game threads…
go ahead and give it to me…
Dolan is single handedly killing all the vibes. What an idiot.
The heel turn for Wemby is an interesting choice on his part. But he has destroyed all the goodwill I felt towards him in the last three games. This kind of shithousery should be beneath a man of his dimensions.
I am going to be in Europe for Game 5 on and it’s killing me. Been out of the country for every NBA finals trip in my lifetime.
marechal rich people love watching other folks’ stuff burn and people wilding out in the streets, that are no where near where they live…
yeah dolan and his insane and well funded msg paranoia trip can’t understand why a mayor and it’s police force would wanna tone that stuff down…
I’d settle for an abscessed tooth. That was enough to stop Secretariat once.
If i may ask, where are you going to be, Owen?
Looks like there’s a new thread and i’m the last to know… LOL
