The good news is that we’ll likely win tonight…….because we probably are not expected to. That’s how we do it a lot of the time.
Guess not.
There is a certain irony concerning last night’s loss given the posting about tanking. That said, the Knicks greatest consistency may be their game to game inconsistency
You know what I was thinking last night, btw?
Masai actually got the Pacers pick in this upcoming draft from Indiana in the Siakim trade. It was the prime asset Indiana gave up for Pascal. But then he traded it to New Orleans for Brandon Ingram. And then Joe Dumars traded it back to Indiana during the NBA finals for their 2025 pick.
Those MFers used the same pick to get Siakim and Zubac! AND they might still get to use it!!!
So yeah, I stand by what I said last week. It’s really hard to compete with these guys. These teams are fairly equal on the court but they’ve handled us the last two years because of the total mismatch in the front office and on the sidelines.
Also a quick note on Joe Dumars before I go full Donnie and join the dark side…
Pritchard called him during the NBA finals, after Tyrese Halliburton injured his calf, to say “hey want to give us our pick back next year? We’ll give you our pick this year, it’s 23rd.” And Joe — bless his heart — didn’t think that was suspicious at all. Didn’t bother to put any protections on that one, either. (In fact I think it’s unclear if Joe even knows you can put protections on a pick.)
Another fun thing about Joe… he used that Indiana pick with his own unprotected pick in ’26 to trade for Queen… so actually Joe D traded two of the four best picks in a generational 2026 draft for one guy who he could have just drafted at 7 with his own pick.
Y’all gave Strat a lot of grief back in the day for his “win trades” method but I always gave him credit for it and still do today. Outside of tanking, finding the sucker is the best way to build a contender in the NBA.
Come on, Hubert, no one gave Strat grief because we don’t agree winning trades is good for the team, it’s because that is not a strategy.
It’s like saying the best strategy to win the championship is to win games… duuuhh!!
We need a win tonight or KB will be miserable for days… let’s hope having Mitch back solves part of the problem, and maybe they start the game with a higher energy level because the opponent is not tanking.
We jinxed the game. 😉 😀
PS: Guys, be careful what you talk about today, i want a win tonight! 😛
But it is a strategy, cyber. It’s called Buy-Low-Sell-High. The Lakers and Celtics have been using it for 50 years.
The Pistons lost at home to the Wizards last Thursday (and that might be a worse loss than last night given the personnel on each team) and then came out and kicked our ass the following night
Let’s hope we follow that example tonight.
Makes me feel pretty good about the Alvarado trade.
This site says we traded:
(1) the least favorable of 2026 DET, ORL, MIL 2nd rd picks.
and
(2) 2nd most favorable of 2027 OKC, HOU, IND, MIA 2nd rd picks
Currently that’s the 59th pick (DET) and based on this year’s standings the 2027 pick would be 56th (HOU).
We gave up some garbage picks for Alvarado.
It’s insane we got him for Yabu. Well done at that one, Leon.
I should also note that we have 3 picks this year — NYK 1st (25), WAS 2nd (33), and NYK 2nd (55) — and 2 picks next year, WAS 2nd and NYK 2nd.
We don’t particularly need the picks we gave up as is.
Size up with Siakam- Josh Hart shouldn’t be on him. Try your rookie more
Thanks Hubert.
Sometimes winning is about only competing with people you know you can beat. It’s been obvious for a very long time that some teams are better at valuing players/deals than others and some managements are atrocious at it. So when you are early in the rebuilding process and trying to accumlate assets/value to consolidate later, winning small trades against lesser managements or short term thinkers makes sense.
But I never said that was the only path.
I always said you should stay open to all of drafting, free agency and deal making because sometimes whole markets go on tilt and you want to go where the value is at any given time. Sometimes picks are prized and sometimes they get thrown around like excess halloween candy.
I am against saying you will rebuild using just the draft when at any given time that might not be the best option for your city. There’s a lot of luck involved in the draft.
Thank God we have 8 days off after tonight, I need a break from this team. I’m more excited seeing videos of Yankee players reporting to Spring Training this morning than I am for tonight’s game.
Hopefully these Knicks can find their pride after all that fucknubbery last night. KATs shooting regressing so rapidly in his age thirty season is nothing to be proud of. Maybe there’s some juice left and a coach out there who can help KAT get his groove back. For his sake. It doesn’t get easier.
Speaking of pride, “they” took down the pride flag in the stonewall national monument across from stonewall yesterday because our federal government has adopted a flag policy that leaves no room for non-agency flags in the national park system. How fucking drab. Beige is a fucking awful dress code for a party.
I guess I’m just gonna chalk last nights loss up as a team protest against the system. Loud and proud fellas.
Strat’s take was that you could win without the Process by winning trades, which was controversial at the time. It wasn’t just “winning trades is good”.
What party is that, Clarence?
The tanking Pacers beat OKC in OKC a few weeks ago in an official re-do of game 7. There’s no shame losing to the defending champs!
The party celebrating Mitch being cleared for back-to-backs in the playoffs!
Thank you for getting it, Donnie.
And now he’s two for two…
“The party celebrating Mitch being cleared for back-to-backs in the playoffs!”
Kewl, but I was actually addressing Clarence for the real answer. 🙂 Good to see you, Clarence.

Brunson is a talking talking point today
https://x.com/ShaxNBA/status/2021685945422991774
They don’t go to Towns against smaller defenders because Towns is really bad against smaller defenders.
By “really bad” you mean that he knocks into them and commits offensive fouls while barreling indiscriminately towards the hoop hoping something good comes of it.
Embiid and Grimes are out tonight, along with Paul George (of course).
And:
Underdog NBA
1h
Shams: Jeremy Sochan to be released by the Spurs.
I see the Brunson talk is from a meme that says “ when Brunson takes 21 or more shots the Knicks are 12-12”
Siakam Nembhard Nesmith and McConnell are all out tonight.
Pacers this season literally want to lose every game except when they play us
If you check the team account on Twitter it’s clear they feel great when they beat the Knicks
Without Embiid Mitch could’ve played last night.
Porzingis was like this for us, too. It’s been so annoying to root for huge bigs that get muscled by point guards.
He flipped the switch in Washington, though, some time around his age 26 or 27 season, and by the time he got to Boston he made that strategy unusable.
KAT’s 30 already. That ship has probably sailed.
Would love to take a flyer but I suspect there are teams that can offer more than us.
If I’m a team like Brooklyn, for instance, why not offer him more than the minimum and see what he can do?
Wow, didn’t think Sochan had fallen that far
I dunno, it seemed headed this way for a while now. He was in the doooooooooooghouse.
I’ve never been a huge fan of his game but I thought someone would’ve offered at least a 2nd rd pick for him at the deadline
In HoopsRumors.com:
Because he’s in his fourth NBA season, Sochan technically remains two-way eligible, so that could be an option if he isn’t offered a standard contract or wants to join a team without a 15-man roster spot available.
Robinson looks a lot lighter on his feet and more athletic lately. Keep praying he stays healthy because he’s rounding into peak form for the playoffs.
