“It’s just the toughness, man,” Hart said. “Everyone talks about this team, we don’t have the physicality, we don’t do this, we don’t do that. We tune that out. At one point, I think we were down 10 in that fourth quarter and we just got stops.”

That was a freaking game! The definition of stars taking over in the 4th. KAT and Brunson were insane and Hart too (3 out of 5 three’s ain’t bad!)

Mikal was frustrating me all game with his missed shots and then came up big when it mattered.

Detroit – cry harder! You mauled our dudes all series, you don’t get to bitch about a missed foul call when 2 seconds prior Harris fouls the shit out of Hart.

The team is definitely showing some toughness and I’m loving it.

Now we just gotta close them out Tuesday and BRING ON BOSTON!

Hey, do I think we can beat them? No. Not really? Do I think we got a shot? Sure, why the hell not?

Mikal was frustrating me all game with his missed shots and then came up big when it mattered.

And he played good defense! Ideally at some point he, and the team as a whole, does everything well in the same game, but it hasn’t happened yet. Odds on it occurring during the playoffs — especially if we go up against Boston in the next round — aren’t high, but a boy can dream, can’t he?

It seems to me that our extremely slim chance to pull off a Kat for giannis trade depended on the bucks wanting to stay competitive, and the lillard injury likely ended that dream.

I hate the narrative about the final shot. Yes, it was a foul that the refs missed. But so much focus is on that one call, that the entire performance of the refs are completely forgotten. They have been bad the entire series- especially yesterday. They were awful yesterday. I don’t wanna take anything away from the Pistons because I respect the fight they have. But if this series was called evenly, the Knicks probably sweep. There were SO many Brunson, KAT, and Anunoby drives where they got hacked a couple of times on the play, and the refs whistle was clogged*shrugs*. As close as these games have been, as little as 6 FT’s would have been a major difference. So what I need is for the media and some of these surface level fans on X to STFU. It’s disrespectful to both teams’ strong play to keep harping on that final play when so much has gone wrong with officiating.

That’s it. That’s my rant for the day lol

It seems to me that our extremely slim chance to pull off a Kat for giannis trade depended on the bucks wanting to stay competitive, and the lillard injury likely ended that dream.

Fine, we’ll give them Mikal for Giannis instead.

Going into the series I was hoping for the Knicks to win in 5 by mostly easy wins to show their true superiority but I actually think winning like they have so far might be better. Certainly has made for a much more entertaining series than I expected.

It seems to me that our extremely slim chance to pull off a Kat for giannis trade depended on the bucks wanting to stay competitive, and the lillard injury likely ended that dream.

The flip side is that Giannis really doesn’t want to leave Milwaukee if he doesn’t have to. And with a healthy-ish Dame, he could keep talking himself into the idea that if Horst made the right moves around the margins, it could work. So this injury might be the only thing that gets him to ask for a trade.

Right now, though, I want to focus on this squad, for as long as we can.

For all the talk about KAT’s fadeaway, didn’t Julius make that exact shot several times in the We Here season? It’s incredible no matter what — and the stage was much bigger — but I had some real deja vu when I saw him do it.

On the last rebound the announcer is saying in real time ”Harris is fouling”. It was very clear that he did. Hart should get the game ball for being able to shake loose and get to Timmy in time, it was an amazing play. And fuck the foul, I don’t think it was as clearly a must call as some are saying.

This pretty much sums up my views:

    @ClaireMPLS
if there’s one thing that grinds my gears it’s teams (not just detroit by any means) whose entire postseason success is predicated on beating the shit out of their opponents with impunity deciding to selectively pearl clutch about missed foul calls

    give me a break

normally what jb did yesterday would easily be the best performance of a playoff day, but that would dimnish what ant did still thank you capn we would not be here without ya

lets just get a lil bit more from mitch and or deuce and put this thing away tomorrw

When I first saw the play, I thought Hardaway initiated much of the contact and it was a 50/50 non call. After watching it again, I saw more contact then I had thought. Nonetheless, Detroit absolutely mauled us the entire game (one of the worst officiated games I’ve seen in a long time) and for much of the series. It’s really hard for them now to complain about the last play.

Educate – Thank you for the clip. Makes me feel better. That is a clear foul.

Jalen Brunson is a very special player… the Pistons want to complain about anything, it’s not capitalizing on knocking him out of the game. We were without our best player and demoralized for what seemed like an interminable period of time and then he just magically appeared… sent back from the abyss with Hermes anklets. Sure they could have won that game, but sometimes the refs get taken too. Brunson was a splendor to behold yesterday.

    THAT WAY!!
    +100

Brunson’s play in 4th quarters has been absolutely outstanding, even when he had “bad” games he went to another level in the clutch.

KAT’s clutchness on the other hand is a pleasant surprise.

How many times since Brunson has been here has he gone down with an injury and it looked bad. He goes to the locker room hobbling then comes back and just fucking takes over.

    Brunson is THE MAN.

But also…KAT was THE MAN yesterday too!

Superstars doing their thing. Sure is nice to have them on our team.

I never thought we would see a greater commitment to the bit on this site than E’s, but what we’re witnessing lately with Not-Doogie is really quite something.

jb (21) at kat (12) are nos 1 and 2 in clutch points this playoffs gordon and harden each with 11 and ant and donovan each with 10 quite remarkable

Cyber, I hope you and your family are okay.

Ditto. That’s a terrifying situation. Not like the first blackout in NY… that was entirely the best. Hope all your people are okay, Cyber.

I suspect Cyber can’t respond till they restore power… but I hope he’s doing alright

good point ebw i did not realize that the situation was still happening thought it was over

RIP Dick Barnett and thanks for the Championships.

I’ve only watched videos about him, but his “leg kick” jump shot motion was peculiar (the only other player I remember doing it with regularity was Charlie Yelverton, anyone has other suggestions?).

    Wanna wretch? Read this.

    https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/the-pistons-were-robbed-on-a-non-call-that-knicks-star-jalen-brunson-routinely-gets/

Jalen Brunson is one of the most egregious foul-baiters on 3-point shots in the league, and he has gotten the benefit of multiple whistles in this series that were far more controversial than the Hardaway play.

Does anyone have any good videos of non-calls in this series? Especially from that game, like the whole 3rd quarter? Or even a better angle of Harris fouling to get the rebound right before this shot?

The Tobias arm hook on Hart is honestly a more obvious foul than the THJ bump, and this discourse is taking place a few days after the Pistons got a literal do-over on the last play of a playoff game they lost. Cry more.

Yesterday was the first time all season this team felt like it had the kind of “never say die, never give an inch” energy of last year’s team. Who knows if it’ll amount to anything, maybe we still get run off the floor by Boston and all the larger questions loom. But it was an impressive road win against a team that has been measurably good for the bulk of the season.

Now that I’m a grown ass man it’s been a while since I’ve purchased a jersey, but after yesterday I feel deeply compelled to honor Jalen Brunson in some way. Might have to pull the trigger. Also, I am very, very, very happy we have KAT.

Brunson took 2 FTs yesterday, the Pistons have taken 15 more FTs this series, they got gifted a free play last game, there was a last 2min no call foul in the Pistons sole win (verified by the 2min report), and they’re allowed a challenge which their coach stupidly wasted.

On top of all that, THJr leans into Brunson. If he doesn’t do that, it still would’ve been a foul. It’s entirely possible that it’s their own damn fault for complaining about foul baiting that the refs didn’t call it.

They can complain all they want, but they’ve been given every opportunity to win this series.

they couldn’t challenge that last play since there was nothing called….so even if he kept the challenge…it was moot…as long as there was no call.

Also, it won’t get talked about much, but Schroder and THJr blew a wide open look at the basket at the end of the 3rd because they wanted to show off

EBW – I mentioned that yesterday and I agree. I couldn’t remember if it was at end of half or Q3 but that was a pretty big miss and let Knicks iff the hook. Given the final score that was very foolish

anyone have video of that thjr/schroder play that ebw mentioned i do not remember what he is talking about

Yesterday was the first time all season this team felt like it had the kind of “never say die, never give an inch” energy of last year’s team.

Feel the same. Grit and grind to the max. Loved it.

We should have put them away in the first half.

EBW – I mentioned that yesterday and I agree. I couldn’t remember if it was at end of half or Q3 but that was a pretty big miss and let Knicks iff the hook. Given the final score that was very foolish

Yeah, I meant more the talking heads. Pretty much everything has been drowned out except the last second foul

Bracing for the refocalypse on Tuesday with the way the narrative has been, never mind that the only reason THJ even gets the ball is because of a far more obvious foul by Harris on Hart under the rim when Cade’s shot missed.

The thing is we’ve already been brutalized this series so what are they gonna do? Brunson/Towns 0 FTA instead of 2 each?

The thing is we’ve already been brutalized this series so what are they gonna do? Brunson/Towns 0 FTA instead of 2 each?

If they call the game more tightly but it’s fair to both teams, I think that only benefits us because they can’t just maul us.

I don’t know. The detroit fans and social media might be up in arms but the league hasn’t said we messed up so maybe it won’t matter. They’ve let them get away with a lot, so I think we’re good.

There was a league mandate this year to stop the ticky-tacky foul calls, and the refs are trying, but it makes it that much harder to call it evenly for both sides.

My feeling is you win some, you lose some. Brunson was touched a lot more than TH2 throughout the game, but people will always focus on the last shot.

More importantly, I kinda wish we were demonstratively a lot better than the Pistons, but I also feel like they aren’t a great “matchup” for us with their athleticism but whatever… at the end of the day, it’s entertainment.

More importantly, I kinda wish we were demonstratively a lot better than the Pistons, but I also feel like they aren’t a great “matchup” for us with their athleticism but whatever… at the end of the day, it’s entertainment.

I said this a few threads ago but I think the Pistons are the “best” of the non top 3 teams in the East. Their record is not really any worse than The Pacers or Bucks and they got better as the season worse on. So I think we got the toughest match up of any of the top 4 teams.

And I think their physicality is a particularly good test for us. Not that we’re going to suddenly be battle tested and ready to take on Boston but, long term, this is a series that is helping us figure some things out and might carry over to next season, regardless of what happens in the next round.

If the whistle is tighter, it benefits the more talented team, which is us. So I hope they do call it more tightly…and fairly, of course. We’ll blow them out (as long as we realize what is happening and don’t try to match their physicality).

Looking at the NBA site, the Last Two Minute Reports for yesterday’s games have yet to be published. We know that the Hart foul will be in it, but not about any foul on Hart. Hopefully when it’s out, that will end the we waz robbed chatter.

This series doesn’t quite have the gravitas of the Sixers series last year, mostly because the stakes just felt much bigger for the more established Sixers; however, the games have been close and well fought and for that reason I wish they had called the foul at the end so that this series could grow in interest rather than diminish just like that.

for that reason I wish they had called the foul at the end so that this series could grow in interest rather than diminish just like that.

    That is crazy talk.

Indiana is definitely a much better team than Detroit but I’m not sure if they would be able to handle their physicality the way the Knicks have. Bucks except for the 3rd quarter of Game 3 have been an absolute joke vs Indiana. It’s a clear Top 4 in the East compared to the rest of the conference unlike the West.

I wish they had called the foul at the end so that this series could grow in interest rather than diminish just like that.

ummmm, no thank you donnie casual fan…

Indiana is definitely a much better team than Detroit

You know, I hadn’t realized Indiana had won 50 games, lol. How did that happen?

I’m wondering how much of a fight Indiana can put up against The Cavs?

If they call the next game tighter it’ll be really interesting. Because if they call it tightly but fairly, NY will get 40 foul shots to Detroit’s 20.

Which will make all the people who are angry about yesterday’s ending even angrier.

If they call the next game tighter it’ll be really interesting. Because if they call it tightly but fairly, NY will get 40 foul shots to Detroit’s 20.

The obvious adjustment by the league will be to call it tight on us and free-for-all for Detroit

Of note, it looks like JJ Redick has now taken Thibs’ spot on the Minutes Police’s Most Wanted List. Surprisingly that is the first time a five-man unit has played an entire half in the play-by-play era.

32-19 in Q4 suggests that it didn’t work out so great.

32-19 in Q4 suggests that it didn’t work out so great.

Yeah, that seemed like obvious coaching malpractice. Lebron is 40, ffs! And everyone knows Luka is out of shape lol. (He had a great game, at least by the numbers )

The obvious adjustment by the league will be to call it tight on us and free-for-all for Detroit

except that really wouldn’t be an adjustment since they already have been doing that.

    It’s not going to matter.

    How did that happen?

I don’t know if he’s just a weirdly streaky shooter or he got healthy again or something else but Hali is playing like a superstar again

JJ Redick’s excuse is that he asked the players if they could go the entire fourth and they all said yes. If LeBron doesn’t say no, you think any of the other 4 is going to pipe up? And even then, why not make an adjustment when it becomes clear it’s not working.

Detroit is playing physical, for sure, but holy shit, Orlando is just, like, attacking dudes on every possession. It is stunning to watch Boston get constantly pummeled on every possession, and their ballhandlers just can’t handle it sometimes.

I feel like Brunson would have only a 20% chance of avoiding a cast if the Knicks were to play the Magic in the playoffs.

It’s very much Bad Boys Pistons. Not even the 1990s Knicks were this physical on every play.

Something people always seem to forget about the 1990s teams is that, like, 40% of the game back then was just dudes posting up, to the point where they had to invent an anti-post up rule.

So players had a lot of time to rest from the physical stuff (granted, that meant that the main post-up players got even more physical treatment, but I mean the rest of the team got breathers), which isn’t there in today’s game, so when teams like Orlando and Detroit decide to get constantly physical, it truly is constant.

All I want for Christmas is for Orlando to extend the series. Boston was 5 games worse at home than on the road this year, and Orlando was only 3 games worse on the road, so they should have as good a shot in game 5 as any other, which isn’t saying much.

Another 96 minutes of rugby on KP and Horford is exactly what we’ll need to maximize our puncher’s chance though.

    FROM SHAMS:

Just in: Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard has been diagnosed with a torn left Achilles tendon, sources tell ESPN. MRI today revealed the severity. A devastating end to his season.

    Whoof.

I’d be interested in an empirical analysis of whether a team’s net rating on the season or their net rating in a specific portion of the season occurring closer to the playoffs is more predictive of playoff performance.

I bring this up because a lot of us, myself included, seem to be surprised at how tough an opponent the Pistons have been. As I mentioned before the series though, in the 49 games that happened after Ivey got injured and Thompson’s minutes increased accordingly, they had the 8th best net rating (+4.8, roughly 53 pythagorean win pace) and 5th best defense in the league. If these were the numbers we were looking at before the series we all would’ve thought it was going to be a rough one, with plenty of folks understandably picking the Pistons to win.

Now, I tend to be a believer in the idea that outside of certain extenuating circumstances (e.g. a team makes a major trade in-season that renders prior data all but meaningless), a larger sample size is per se better for evaluative purposes than a smaller one. But the Pistons were flat out better than us for the majority of the season, which is a little hard for me to write off as noise.

My guess is they’re not quite a top-8 team, but also the Ivey/Thompson situation, not to mention the Schroeder acquisition, does mean they’re something in between the 82 game sample and the 49 game sample. That would put them roughly neck-and-neck to our season-long indicators.

    Really sad for Dame.

Finally getting a chance to watch the game (not counting the last second, which I’ve now seen a thousand times). It’s interesting to watch it with the current narrative. We do maul the Pistons, but we mostly only do it on attempted layups (thou shalt not pass) and we mostly get whistled for it (but not always). Otherwise we’re suffocating defensively but mostly legal. Detroit definitely is mauling on our shots, while we dribble, and often when a player is without the ball. Marechal’s shared video clips are a good example.

Also, on that last-second shot, Hardaway throws his legs out like he’s mounting a horse by jumping on it from the back. He wasn’t really trying to make it.

TNFH, that was more or less my thesis pre-series, that the Pistons are an even match with us at best and most likely a little bit better. I think we are about the 10th best team in the NBA and they are maybe the 8th or 9th.

The talent level is close enough that a series can be decided by things like homecourt, luck, and missed calls. We may be built a little better for the playoffs because our best players are more experienced and we are so top-heavy.

I’m not at all surprised that the series has been as close as it’s been, and I’m shocked to be up 3-1 after losing Game 2 at home.

Of course, I’m the Great Clown so I must accept that my occasional prescient take won’t stand out against the backdrop of my constant foppish doomerism. 🙂

at end of reg season i would rank ny at 8 and det at 13 that does not account for anys pcecific portion of season

at end of reg season i would rank ny at 8 and det at 13 that does not account for anys pcecific portion of season

Doogie, this is not really reasonable when DET is 12th in SRS and has clearly gotten better as the season has gone on, while we’re 9th and have clearly trended downward.

Also, on that last-second shot, Hardaway throws his legs out like he’s mounting a horse by jumping on it from the back. He wasn’t really trying to make it.

While true, why should he have tried to make the shot when he his defender in the air throwing himself at him? Any NBA player would assume you’re automatically getting the foul called there, and just make sure you’re behind the line to get three free throws.

Why should he have tried to make the shot when he his defender in the air throwing himself at him?

So you can win the game without having to rely on the ref to call a foul and you make the free throws?

he’s an 85 percent ft shoter he likely had enuff confidence in himself to hit at least two of three

he’s an 85 percent ft shoter he likely had enuff confidence in himself to hit at least two of three

Of course. But that’s assuming he gets the call, which he obviously didn’t. I get that he was foul baiting but if you aren’t actually attempting to make the shot, that’s the definition of foul baiting and the refs are less likely to call that in your favor. So just try to make the shot.

I’d be interested in an empirical analysis of whether a team’s net rating on the season or their net rating in a specific portion of the season occurring closer to the playoffs is more predictive of playoff performance.

If you insist on using SRS or something along those lines IMO you have to incorporate injuries and trades for every team for the entire season (perhaps even some scheduling issues) before running the SRS. If you don’t do that, there will variations over the entire season that have little to do with how good the team is now.

Once you have you have an adjusted SRS, then you can start making some more subjective judgements about young players developing, whether the team benefitted in the regular season from a deep bench or will do better in the playoffs when the rotation is shortened up and and other variables that may impact the team.

I don’t run those numbers anymore because it’s a ton of work and I don’t think it buys me much over just looking at the talent on the team and asking is A > B position for position, role for role, matchup for matchup?

I’ve been saying all along I think we are way better than Detroit. We should sweep or beat them in 5. That we are struggling so badly even though we are up 3-1 tells me we are not playing very well on offense because Detroit is playing as expected. They are tough, physical and have a better defense than us, but they are not an elite defensive team or near as talented as us on offense.

I think we’ve struggled offensively at times because of lack of movement and too much hero ball.

Having a great ISO player like Brunson is essential when the pressure is at its maximum and sphincters are getting tighter. You need someone that can handle it and get a basket. But that’s not going to work if it’s too much of your offense for an entire game.

Yesterday was interesting in that I think we had a decent balance on offense, but OG and Mikal had off nights shooting. Then Brunson and KAT took over at the end the way they should. The defense was very good. If they play like that and we get good games from OG and Mikal, we can blow this team out.

    Ouch

    https://x.com/ringer/status/1916937569616773440

I’m so glad it was Zach Lowe because he’s highly respected for very good reasons. He’s terrific.

Doncic has been doing this for years.

If you just look at boxscores you are going to think he’s one notch below God. If you watched a lot of Dallas basketball not only did you see him being a joke on defense for stretches, you saw him constantly arguing with the refs while the other team was playing 5 on 4, you saw him look off open players and throw up trash, dribble away an entire shot clock and throw up trash and so on. He is an incredible talent and great player, but there’s something amiss in his head beyond just getting in peak shape like a professional athlete should.

yep what it comes down to is that he didn’t execute his foul baiting well enuff to pull it off

L2M report says Harris’ pro wrestling move on Hart under the basket on Cade’s last shot was a correct no call lmao

Of course, I’m the Great Clown so I must accept that my occasional prescient take won’t stand out against the backdrop of my constant foppish doomerism. 🙂

To be fair to the haters, while there’s still time, your actual prediction for the series is not aging well.

If you watched a lot of Dallas basketball not only did you see him being a joke on defense for stretches, you saw him constantly arguing with the refs while the other team was playing 5 on 4, you saw him look off open players and throw up trash, dribble away an entire shot clock and throw up trash and so on.

I watched a lot of Dallas basketball during their run to the finals that was fueled largely by Luka Doncic. He certainly has his flaws but that’s hardly some kind of contrarian opinion They Don’t Let You Say. He ranges from the best player in the sport on his best day to maybe the 10th on his worst. I love Brunson dearly, but the Knicks have still not had such a “flawed” player during my lifetime.

I said this a couple of times already….SRS, net rating, blah blah blah…all fail to capture that Knicks have the best closer and assasin since at least Kobe. It’s only fitting that he was undervalued by the entire league and he took a paycut to help build a championship team.

If we can keep 5 out of 7 games close and within reach against Boston, – do you really have any doubt in Jalen’s ability to win 4 of them.

it’s the part where we keep 5 out of 7games close that i think a lot of people are doubing based on the regular season games wehre i think only one of them wasn’t a total domination by them

what it comes down to is that he didn’t execute his foul baiting well enuff to pull it off

    Story of your life too

no thank you donnie casual fan…

Serious question for the real fans out there: would you rather win an easy series in four or five games, or win a bloodbath in seven? Cause I remember exactly where I was when Allan Houston’s shot bounced in, but couldn’t tell you a single thing about the Hawks series that came after it.

I don’t see how a bloodbath in seven in the first round helps anything.

A bloodbath in the conference finals or the finals would be fine, though.

I don’t see how a bloodbath in seven in the first round helps anything.

The Sixers series last year wasn’t fun for you?

I said this a couple of times already….SRS, net rating, blah blah blah…all fail to capture that Knicks have the best closer and assasin since at least Kobe. It’s only fitting that he was undervalued by the entire league and he took a paycut to help build a championship team.

Not for nothing but in the one NYK/BOS game that was close, it wasn’t our guy doing the the closing and assassinating.

The Sixers series last year wasn’t fun for you?

Not the part where Embiid pulled a WWE move on Mitch that sidelined him for nearly a whole calendar year

miami showing no fight at all tonite cleveland will be well rested for indy

Wow. I understand them quitting on the series, and quitting on this particular game. However, 63-23 in 20 minutes is beyond humiliating and unprofessional. Cavs are not even trying hard.

Cause I remember exactly where I was when Allan Houston’s shot bounced in, but couldn’t tell you a single thing about the Hawks series that came after it.

Honestly, that’s a fair point, but come on, we HATED the Heat during that era. I remember many of our series against them and against the Pacers. We played other teams at various times, and no, they weren’t memorable…but I don’t think it’s because they weren’t bloodbaths; it was the 90s, everything was a bloodbath! It was because of the history, the enmity.

jarrett allen is a montser 12 and 11 wwith six stls in teh first half, and it is not over yet

At this point I think Cavs need to run up the score and break the MoV record for the playoffs. It’s only 58!

The Heat finished 37-45 which was 10th in the East. They traded away a very impactful player for a bunch of scrubs. Add in quiting on your coach and you get this.

Thanks for thinking about me, my friends of KB. 🙂

Yeah, i was without electricity from 11:30AM to 11:15PM. And that was not all, internet was down, voice calls weren’t working like 90% of the time, and SMS was on and off, mostly off. Then i had to take my stepdaughter to the school where she teaches little kids, because without electricity there was no trains and no subway/metro. Well, the school is on the other side of the metropolitan area. Now add to this, people leaving their works and you can imagine the traffic.

But hey, i’m from the 80s which means i’m from a time with no mobile phones and no internet. It felt like a throwback monday to the 80s for sure. 😛

was watching ‘around the horn’ and courtney cronin shared some insight on the shedeur sanders situation…

seems his slide in the draft may have been a result of poor pre-draft preparation/execution…he may have been guided in the wrong direction by his agent/father…dion’s other son son fired his dad right after the draft…

parenting = win some, lose some…maybe also a lesson in learning when to let go…

happy to hear you and the family are safe and sound cyber…and very cool to hear you have an educator in the family, yay 🙂

No problems in Italy, Max? I was having little contact with news, but some people were saying that the outage was in Portugal and Spain, but also parts of France, Italy and Germany. I don’t know if that was true or not.

Also at some point there were rumblings that this was a russian attack, but sometime later there was a much more reasonable explanation. Thank God it wasn’t Russia, i thought we were going to war. What a day! 😛

happy to hear you and the family are safe and sound cyber…and very cool to hear you have an educator in the family, yay 🙂

Thanks, Geo. Yeah, she has great talent with kids, they love her. It’s very good to see that, i feel very proud.

But today, maybe they loved her a little less, because they thought upon getting home they’d have electricity, internet and could go play games on the Playstation… and she was the bearer of the bad news. LOL

And how are you, Geo? I don’t remember reading about it lately.

The wild beauty of a 7 games series rarely comes wo injuries and exhaustion so I’ll take the 5 games too, especially in the first round

Cause I remember exactly where I was when Allan Houston’s shot bounced in, but couldn’t tell you a single thing about the Hawks series that came after it.

I get what you’re saying but I vividly recall that Hawks series. Latrell Sprewell made the leap in Atlanta w back-to-back 30+ point games, and it was some of the best Knicks basketball I’ve ever seen in my life.

A demolition has to be in round 2 or later to be enjoyable, I think. What OKC and Cleveland are doing in round 1 is not memorable. It’s just a mismatch. But that Hawks team was good and we destroyed them.

Watched a couple playoff games by Cavs and Pacers these days.
Pacers seemed to me pretty fast passing teamball team and despite Haliburton’s dick vibes i wouldn’t be surprised if they upset the Cavs or send them to 7games.

Cavs paintball with Allen/Mobley party is For Real but i don’t expect them to go all the way this year. They’re Not Too Persuading to me.

hi cyber, i’m well, thank you so much for asking 🙂

been spending a bunch of time with the kids and my mom, which is a blessing…things may not be working out so great with the whole “partnering up” thing with my friend, but oh well, i’m still young, plenty of time still for that fun stuff 😛

the boys have gotten me back in to exercising, which is a good thing (except for when youngest son takes to bludgeoning me down in the post out on the court, that just hurts)…

it’s funny a couple of years ago daughter got me eating healthier…the exercise stuff is a slow process, with the aging thing it’s a bit like rolling a huge boulder up a hill…gravity is just not my friend anymore…

it’s been awhile since i’ve exercised much, so cool to see new (to me at least) machine equipment at the gym…

did some wind sprints this week, it hurt so bad…also wanna get in to doing those isometric exercises more often…

super psyched with the knicks up 3 – 1…not really watching or reading anything in particular, mostly just enjoying GTA online (videogame stuff)…

want to be supportive of all the kids, but it’s cool to think that when you’re helping an educator you’re also helping a lot of other folks too…

run in to any interesting critters lately on your hikes through nature?

I turned this game on 20 minutes ago and have only seen one possession so far. Almost makes me want to switch over to baseball… or even cricket.

The officials better start to get control of these playoff games.

To be fair, VanVleet has hit eight threes, but you know what I mean, a guy who can shoot, control the offense, and then hit free throws late. The Rockets don’t have anyone like that, which is weird. They have so many trade assets.

what the heck got in to fred vanvleet tonight…

rooting for the rockets tonight, wanna see this series go the full 7 games…

Dillon Brooks is a dirty ass player. Not a bad player, but holy shit is that dude dirty.

rooting for the rockets tonight, wanna see this series go the full 7 games…

    You get it now!

I turned this game on 20 minutes ago and have only seen one possession so far.

    😊

I feel like I should get a ribbon or something for successfully completing Donnie’s school of casual fandom…

Not to be Debby Downer, but I remember my parents dying quite vividly.

Give me four straight blowouts please. If I want to be super tense for two straight hours I can read the newspaper.

Draymond is old and gray and has the best impulse control of a young Winona Ryder, but, when he wants to be, he is still one of the greatest players to ever play.

    greatest players to ever play.

Calm down. He’s a great defender though.

jalen green is 23 and in his 4th season…just young, he can definitely get better…

You shouldn’t give up on a guy this early.

    But I have. 😉

If I want to be super tense for two straight hours I can read the newspaper.

that’s so last millennium old timer, all the cool kids know you have to have that meidas touch these days to know what’s what…

    Calm down.

One of the best interior defenders ever, who passes like Magic Johnson and has won 4 rings. He’s clearly an all-time great. This 4th quarter performance was just a reminder.

Yes he’s one of the best defenders ever, but he’s not one of the greatest players ever.

I still remember Draymond Green faking an injury when Steph Curry got hurt , the year they got Wiseman. He couldn’t carry the team so he quit.

Yes he’s one of the best defenders ever, but he’s not one of the greatest players ever.

“Greatest players ever” is suitably vague, I think. If you’re one of the best defenders ever, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to go with “one of the greatest players ever.”

They will get Durant, he kind of is what they need..

Agreed, he’d fit perfectly there. Why didn’t they get him this year, though? Phoenix had to be selling, right?

Suns owner decided he wanted to keep KD and let the season play out.

Of the thousands of people that have played in the NBA, Draymond is in the top .02%, arguably the top .01%. That is an all time great, regardless of whether you think defense is important or not.

He couldn’t carry the team so he quit.

To tie this into the earlier conversation about memorable 7 game series vs forgettable easy wins, I remember when Scottie Pippen refused to take the court because Phil Jackson drew up a play for Toni Kukoc instead. Despite that, Pippen, too, is still considered an all-time great. (Robin is a superhero too, you know. He’s not just Chris O’Donnell in neo-gothic drag.)

    No problems in Italy, Max?

No electricity issues here Cyber, thank you 🙂
I’m glad you and your family are okay and you enjoyed your travel into the time machine 😉

Headline of today’s NYT newsletter: “7 contenders to be the next pope”.

How many pretenders? Will my candidate advance to the VCF? Will injuries play a role?

The decline of human race, and western civilization in particular, is going at full speed. 😀
