3x NBA Champion New York Knicks Must Consider

A story? Well you do need a story, Doogie. They can help someone in your condition. You’re painfully something, though famously self aware. You’re really good at noticing stupid in other people.

Geo – my fandom exploded around the age of 12/13. My mother, who at the time worked at a printing press in white plains and also moonlighted as a professional contract bridge player got tickets to the Mother’s Day game that year from her bridge partner at the time (that partnership ended in a biting incident). She had seen me gravitate to the team as my little brain tried to work out the sport. I played with friends and talked about the team with her quite a bit. I was a little bit of a stats nerd as a child. So we went to the game. I fell in thrall.

My parents’ marriage was heading straight at the divorce cliff, my father was always at his service station in Mamaroneck(Charles Oakley and he were great friends until Charles was no longer his friend…) and I was the mistake that prevented Cain from killing Abel – so shit-listed into perpetuity. Anyways, my mom got a pin that says “Knicks Love Moms” on it that day and kept it because she understood how much I loved that team. She died during the pandemic from liver cancer.

I just brought her ashes to the founders’ stone in Tel Aviv where her grandparents’ names are inscribed with the 38 other founders of the city. I’m here because I wrote a movie that garnered some attention (Doogie would hate it – I’d say at least 50 percent of you would), and I was invited to talk about it during pride. My partner and I decided to come during this time because I think changing the world for the better means investing in arts and education everywhere. The Abrahamic binary as we all know it started here and it’s pretty fucking rad being super duper gay full of frocciagine on a beach full of naked men and women staring right into the abyss.

I’m an atheist, Bakshi’s Wizards is masterwork, 2 eggs sunny side up and bacon with butter slathered sourdough toast and light roast coffee with heavy cream and a touch of butter for my last meal please, plain croissant over chocolate croissant, the right to life is important and so is the right to die.

    Thanks for the story, Clarence.

In other news, the Globe says this: “The Celtics trailed by as many as 48 points in the third quarter, completely letting go of the rope and forcing Mazzulla to pull his starters with three-plus minutes left in the quarter.”

Two reasons why this would never happen with the Knicks: first, these Knicks might play badly but they would never, ever let go of the ropes; and second, Thibs has an iron-clad rule that nobody gets subbed out of the game unless there’s two minutes or less remaining. Full stop.

in game 4 against indy we were down 101-63 after three quarters and had already inserted human white flags daquan jeffries and shake milton.

If that had been the Knicks last night Porzingis would have played 30 minutes.

If that had been the Knicks last night Porzingis would have played 30 minutes.

    I’ll take the “over”. 🙂

The way Dallas was getting to the rim last night and the way Dallas’s defense was locking down, he may have to play 30 minutes in game 5 or they are going back to Dallas.

If that had been the Knicks last night Porzingis would have played 30 minutes.

False. If it had been the Knicks, Porzingis would’ve been out for the season 2 months ago after playing 96 consecutive minutes on a recently injured knee

I’ve been diving into the draft a bit more by looking at big boards, and trying to narrow down the field to those who are likely to be available when we pick.

The following 15 guys are almost certain to be gone:

    Sarr
    Risacher
    Sheppard
    Castle
    Buzelis
    Clingan
    Knecht
    Dillingham
    Holland
    Topic
    Williams
    Salaun
    Carter
    McCain
    Walter

The following might slip down to 24 but probably not. One or two of them might slip in to the feasible (e.g. two of our picks for one) trade-up range, but all are likely to go between 16-22 unless a team reaches for one of them or enough reaches below them occur to bump them down:

    da Silva
    Collier
    Edey
    Carrington
    Filipowski

Then there are the players who could go anywhere from 15-30, depending on team needs but there’s a very good chance that one or more of them will be available at 23-24:

    Ware
    Missi
    Furphy
    Kolek
    Klintman

Then there are guys who will likely be available at 24-25 but not much later than that, almost certainly not at 38:

    George
    Holmes
    Smith
    Scheierman
    Dadiet

Then those who I would consider wild cards who could go anywhere from mid-first round to early second, and who wouldn’t necessarily be considered reaches at 24-25:

    Dunn
    Djuricic
    Tyson
    Shannon

And finally, likely second rounders guys who are worthy of consideration at 38 and have a good chance of being available:

    McCullar
    Edwards
    Shead
    Ighodaro
    Johnson
    Mitchell
    Bona

I’m not suggesting that this is any better than anyone else’s takes, just where the prominent big boards have lead me.

You could add Christie and Ajinca to the last list…Mogbo and Nunez are reaches but have some intriguing features…Flowers and Wells are mentioned…

My initial thought is that we should trade up for Edey but it might lose us iHart, which we can’t afford.

    Otherwise:
    24. DaRon Holmes II
    25. Baylor Scheierman
    38. Isaiah Crawford

Ryan Dunn or Jamal Shead are in the mix at 38

I’d like to grab Kris Dunn on the taxpayer MLE and Rokas at the minimum.

    PG: Brunson/Dunn/Rokas
    SG: Donte/Deuce/Crawford
    SF: OG/Hart/Scheierman
    PF: Randle/Bogey/Precious
    C: iHart/Mitch/Holmes

I’d consider waiving Bogey and keeping Burks instead

Obviously we bring back Archie who fills the “trade deadline fodder/Nova” role

EB, what is your rationale for taking Crawford at #38? No big board that I looked at other than some guy named Ersin Demir had him ranked in their top 50. Not that that means much in and of itself, lots of guys had IQ being undrafted. He definitely put up good numbers, what do you think scouts like Wasserman, O’Connor and Vecenie are missing?

In looking at Crawford’s film, what stood out to me is that he’s kinda slow in everything he does on offense and that the competition he played against was not good.

Sweet like candy to my soul
    Sweet you rock
    And sweet you roll

you know clarence, many of us here put words together, think we’re clever – than one of a few folks that normally post here will get to writing, and well, the real thing is pretty easy to see and feel…

    thanks for sharing that stuff…

we had a poster from Israel a few years back (ingmarr i believe), they were an activist and shared a documentary they had worked on…

it was pretty cool…if you’d like, share your work, I’d definitely be interested…

would absolutely love the chance to sit down, walk or whatever – and hear your: I’m an atheist story…

more mom stuff too please…thanks again 😊

There’s several reasons he may be getting overlooked:

    (1) Injury risk after 2 ACL tears
    (2) 5th-year senior due to injuries
    (3) Played in the mid-majors

I tend to think mid-major players and injury-risks are inefficiencies. We’ve seen injured players like MPJ drop too far on draft night and guys like Faried, Kawhi, and Jalen Williams drop because they played in the mid-majors.

    What I like:
    (1) Listed at 6’6″ with a 7′ wingspan
    (2) Strong enough to play some 4
    (3) 3&D with creation upside
    (4) Can post smaller players

He looks a little slow but I think he looks crafty enough to take advantage of his length, strength, and height in small doses. Defensively, he’s got pretty good stock rates. Not the highest upside but looks to have a good floor and a stronger shot at a high-end roleplayer than most if even a bit of his creation translates. Not the shooter Donte is today, but maybe the same level of creation. I don’t think he’ll be Grimes standing in the corner.

Basically, I envision pairing him with OG, letting them switch on the perimeter, and smothering opponents with their length. He won’t kill the spacing on offense and can beat poor defenders 1-on-1.

EB I get all that, but guys like Faried (who really wasn’t that good) Kawhi, and Jalen all were mocked much higher than this guy.

He seems more like a trade down from #38 to pick up an extra pick or buy a pick kind of player. In any event, I doubt that he will be the pick, but will like to see how he does in summer league. And if he dows happen to go undrafted, I would definitely target him as a UDFA.

BTW having round 2 on the next day should spice up the second round a bit.

EB I get all that, but guys like Faried (who really wasn’t that good) Kawhi, and Jalen all were mocked much higher than this guy.

Yeah, I think it’s the confluence of age/injury/division/lack of pop that’s dropping him. We don’t need him to be Kawhi or Jalen, just a good roleplayer.

Maybe I’m overcompensating for the factors listed above that I think are inefficiencies, but it’s a 2nd round pick so I’m okay if it doesn’t pan out.

I’d also say that he seems to be a popular pick among the non-mainstream and from their couch crowd who I think nail about one guy a year and he’s their guy this year.

It wasn’t good enough to be AIed. 🙂 Thanks for playing, CB.

neocon one day, and now AI ed another…

although I am all for artificial intelligence being used in the field of education – I’m guessing that is not what AI ed really means…

and yes, I’m pretty sure that by KB 2030 we will have at least a few AI posters here…

and yes, I’m pretty sure that by KB 2030 we will have at least a few AI posters here…

LOL. And then one AI poster will get mad at another and tell him to go drink bleach. 😀

Mike Scotto’s latest mock draft has us taking Missi, Dunn, and Justin Edwards in the second round. Scotto continues to say the league is convinced that Dunn’s floor is us, and he went with Missi because he’s worried about Hartenstein, not just with OKC, but because, “The Orlando Magic is another team to monitor for Hartenstein, according to rival NBA executives who spoke with HoopsHype.”

We need to get a report from iHart’s mom, ASAP!

Where are you taking me Bernie? I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do.

It wasn’t good enough to be AIed. 🙂 Thanks for playing, CB.

    Bless your heart.

I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do.

that’s right, gotta just keep truckin’ HAL…

We need to get a report from iHart’s mom, ASAP!

The silence of cgreene does have me worried.

Idk about Missi. Maybe he just seems boring to me as a generic rim runner/shotblocker on top of being a project.

Had a solid 2.6 orebs in 23 mpg. Also had a terrible 3.0 drebs in 23mpg. Maybe it was part of a defensive scheme.

Looks like a dominant basketball player with height, wingspan, and a wide body. Good athlete who hangs in the air and moves pretty quick.

Maybe some flashes of putting the ball on the floor. New to basketball with strong soccer footwork.

I definitely get it watching the highlights, and Thibs would love moulding this kid like he did Mitch, but I don’t think we need a project at C right now. You can see a potentially elite defensive C.

If iHart leaves, I don’t know if Thibs trusts him on the floor in win now mode. If iHart stays, what’s his path to ever playing? I guess we eventually trade Mitch and use Missi as a backup to iHart. Doesn’t seem like a great use of a 1st round pick to me unless he hits his defensive ceiling.

“Mike Scotto’s latest mock draft has us taking Missi, Dunn, and Justin Edwards in the second round.”

I’d be fine with that haul. Edwards is young enough to have upside and is a physical specimen, although he has some issues. Missi is not my fave but I think Filipowski and Edey will be gone. He’s gotta be better than Sims, no?

Geo the movie releases on the 25th. To be honest, I’m really nervous about reviews. We had a great publicist who connected us with the people who tend to like what we did. So right now it’s a 100 on rotten tomatoes. But that could change real fast. Did you know letterboxed exists. It’s like yelp for movies. Fucking hell. I’ll consider sharing more if things go ok for my psyche.

I didn’t get to watch the Celtics game because Tel Aviv is really a dope place. Sleep is barely an option though it’s in dire need. I’m really hoping the mavs got a handle on something because I really want to see torment and dread personified in either of those two teams when I get back to the states.

I look at Missi’s defensive rebounding numbers and think “Why not just draft Mogbo?” He was a fantastic rebounder on both sides of the ball and can pass like Hartenstein… maybe a bit better.

Mogbo is only 6’6″ but has the same wingspan as Missi and a standing reach only an inch shorter.

He doesn’t have anything close to the rim protection potential that Missi has but made up for it with 2stls/36 in college.

Most importantly, we could probably draft Mogbo at 38 instead of one of our 1sts. Or just grab Bona at 38 who is another raw rim runner.

ha clarence – you need to take heed of the wise words many of our young players espouse…

trust in the preparation and work everyone placed in to the project…

hard to predict how folks will react in the moment – 10 years from now…

as a place, we’re fortunate to have a bunch of creative folks kick in whom are courageous and bold enough to share their art/work…

shoot, work wise I did mostly operational kind of stuff…

with that stuff as you progress in experience – shit gets pretty easy…

creating content – has a lot of parts that just don’t work that way…

    it’s stuff based on feelings/emotions…that’s tougher…

and you know what – if you think your family is proud of you and loves you – that’s really all that matters…

although, it is work though, hope you’re getting paid well for all the effort, and worry 😊

“Most importantly, we could probably draft Mogbo at 38 instead of one of our 1sts. Or just grab Bona at 38 who is another raw rim runner.”

I think Missi is on another level than either of those two guys, but if the scouting team likes Mogbo or Bona, I’m down. Their film does not do it for me, but who knows?

I don’t disagree with the larger point that maybe going for guards/wings with 24 and 25 rather than a pogo stick big is a sensible option.

Vecenie did a very realistic mock draft on his latest pod (first round only), and they came away with the Knicks taking Ware and Scheierman, which I thought was a good mix of defense and shooting. Essentially, one of Ware, Filipowski, Missi, or Edey should fall to us.

although, it is work though, hope you’re getting paid well for all the effort, and worry 😊

    Me too

Interesting language thingy tonight with our server. To overcome, to persist and to deal with it are hard to parse for a non English brain. A polyglot though…

I’ve also never seen the sixth sense or the titanic… eyeballs

I think Missi is on another level than either of those two guys, but if the scouting team likes Mogbo or Bona, I’m down. Their film does not do it for me, but who knows?

There’s the film, then there’s the numbers. I like Mogbo’s numbers more.

    Per Twitter

Julius Randle will be guest analyst for ESPN’s NBA Countdown on ABC for NBA Finals Game 5

He’ll be in Boston on set with Malika Andrews, Michael Wilbon, Stephen A Smith, Bob Myers & Adrian Wojnarowski

    “I like Mogbo’s numbers more.”

Missi is 4 inches and three years younger, and put up his numbers in a much better conference. Is that worth 14 draft slots? I dunno, maybe.

I wrote a movie that garnered some attention (Doogie would hate it )

    Was it Inglourious Basterds?

Or maybe The Pursuit of Happyiness, or possibly Can’t Hardly Wait? Oh, man, Doogie must hate that one (unless Jennifer Love Hewitt’s torso was too distracting for him to notice the poor grammar).
