Holy shit, people, it’s been way too fucking long between Knicks games. It feels like the All-Star break lasted a month this year. That’s good for Mitch’s recovery, though, at least, and he’s actually listed as just “Questionable” tonight, which is amazing. The Wizards upgraded Bradley Beal from questionable to active, and Robinson is still a gametime decision, but I think there’s a decent chance he goes tonight. EDITED TO ADD: Mitch is starting! WOOHOO! Let the good times roll!
So let’s hope the Knicks open the second half by kicking some Wizard ass, and continue to make a major move on the #5 seed and solidify the “Don’t have to play in the play-in game” seed, at the very least.
I’m so happy that Mitch is back.
Let’s go, Knicks!
Hopefully Julius kicks some ass!
As you have no doubt noticed, even as the Nets are freefalling from the #5 seed, the back end of the Eastern Conference suddenly looks feisty as fuck. The Hawks are two back of the Knicks in the loss column, the Wizards are three games back in the loss column and the Raptors and Bulls are four games back in the loss column. That is annoying.
So if the Knicks could just defeat the Hawks in Atlanta tonight to finish out a pretty darn fun first half, I would really appreciate it.
Then Mitch can get back, and the Knicks defense can stop sucking, and then they can really go on a run in the second half. That #5 seed is very much in play!
Let’s go, Knicks!
The Knicks host the Nets as part of a big two games heading into the All Star break. The Knicks need to make a push to get the #6 seed, and they play both the current #5 seed, the now-Durant-less Nets, as well as the current #8 seed, the surging Atlanta Hawks. A win tonight would be huge (as well would the Hawks game). Heading into the All-Star break 33-27 would be outstanding.
The Knicks have not beaten the Nets since the Nets signed Durant, nine straight losses, but the Nets no longer have that warlock Durant on the team, so his magical spell should be broken, and the Knicks should be able to take this one against a Nets team that got edged out by the Sixers on Saturday (with the Nets throwing up so many bricks you could build an outhouse to house all of those shitty shots), but seem to mostly be playing a bit over their head.
Let’s go, Knicks!
The Knicks host the Jazz on a rare night where both of the teams are on the second night of a back-to-back. The Jazz luckily beat the Raptors in the first game of their road trip, so they really won’t be pumped up to get a win tonight, hopefully.
This is a big game for the Knicks, as they could really use an easy win tonight with two really big games for playoff positioning ahead before the All Star break against the Nets and Hawks (luckily for the Knicks, one of those games went from a matchup against Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to a game without either of them).
Josh Hart will make his Knick debut tonight, and that’s such a momentous occasion that I’ll do a poll!

The Knicks host the Clippers tonight, and luckily, the Clippers don’t really have a low post game at all, so the Knicks should be able to hang with them defensively fine. The Clippers have been a major disappointment this season, as even when Paul George and Kawhi Leonard play together the rest of the squad is so uninspiring that the end result is just…fine. Not awful, but not interesting at all. Basically, the Clippers had a whole bunch of guys who were hopefully going to make a leap and…none of them took that leap. It’s just this weird hodge podge of players, and they’re all making a lot of money! It’s such a weird team. Everyone’s old and not that good, while making a ton of money.
And yet, I guess if Kawhi goes nuts, they could make some noise in the playoffs. In any event, I think the Knicks beat then.
The Knicks, by the way, are possibly trading Obi, Fournier and a pick for Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt. Like so many Rose moves, it’s…okay. It doesn’t move the needle much, but it’s not a bad move, either. So sure, whatever, I’m fine with it.
Let’s go, Knicks!
The Knicks host the Miami Heat with a week to go before the Trade Deadline.
They really need to pull this one out, and honestly, I think they’ll come out fighting a lot more than their awful start in Los Angeles. The Heat are a tough team, but I think that the Knicks lately, and Thibs in particular, always seem to pull out games when they really need to win them (in the regular season, that is). So just when things are looking bad, that’s when they’ll go on a winning streak, and tonight is the perfect time for that, so I’m figuring that the Knicks get over the top tonight.
EDITED TO ADD: Whoops, missed Brunson being a late scratch. Well, that’s not good. But the Knicks tend to surprise you when you think they’re definitely going to lose, so maybe Quickley will have a monster game!
