2024-25 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Pelicans – The Magical 20-Game Mark

The Knicks finished a weird ass road trip, and now take on the Pellies at home.

This is the Knicks’ 20th game, the magical moment when you are allowed to have a take on the team. Let’s hope it is a win!

Let’s go, Knicks! Winning two straight is the start for 58!

Mikal just passed on attacking the basket to clank a 3P

And all with 16 seconds on the offensive clock… or was it 18?

The Gotham Sports app is off to a worse start than Mikal Bridges

Is that possible? 🤭

A-Rod is truly a New York sports legend for contributing to the Minnesota Timberwolves’ dicey financial situation

You can add anything to do with Dejounte Murray to the list of Knicks counterfactuals that are obviously worse than what we did instead

Nice of the Pelicans to do everything in their power to make our defensive rating look good at the Magical 20-Game Mark

Looks like Deuce is 39% from 3P land, but he’s the one i always think the ball will go in when it lefts his hands. Amazing!

RJ with 13 points on six shots in 10 minutes.

This is the part of the cartoon where the coyote receives the package from the Acme company. Everything seems promising, yet you know it’s going to blow up in his face

Seriously…it’s almost un-usable. Bring back MSG+ you fucking loser, Dolan.

Measuring stick game……….not

Ha ha! 20 games in. They’re playing great. Everything is fine. They have it all figured out. Rest of season they will be a well-oiled machine.

OG – the dunk machine

seems OG likes playing power forward, or at least he does it equally as well as playing small forward…

Edit: interesting post style above, point for creativity…

ISM is helping a lot today, and the Pelicans have very few good players available, but the defensive effort does look a bit better today.

Not a good game for the Dejounte Murray fan club… a good game for the Mikal Bridges is going to be fine camp.

If Towns and OG could hit a shot we would have mercy ruled these guys already.

Mike says the same thing almost every season about him giving away answers to the trivia questions, while he’s announcing…

he’s right, come april or so he’ll be guessing aloud once again…

Edit: interesting post style above, point for creativity…

LOL! It’s the blockquote party !! 😉 😀

The Pellies are kind of hilariously bad, so that’s better than boringly bad, I guess! A fiasco is better than just sucking.

I hate that the Gotham Sports app on the best TV in our house requires me to log in every single time I use it. Especially since I’m trying to use more difficult passwords these days on anything tied to a method of payment.

This is just what the doctor ordered after a six and a half hour drive to cap off Thanksgiving weekend….

Alan, can’t you cast from your phone?

I hate that the Gotham Sports app on the best TV in our house requires me to log in every single time I use it.

It’s awful, I can’t think of any other similar app that doesn’t at least have a “keep me logged in” option. I have to fire it up a full ten minutes before game time to make sure I don’t miss anything.

Imagine if we had won the Zion lottery

I posted this a few days ago, but picking 3rd didn’t turn out all that bad, considering that we ended up with OG

Defense looking kind of slack this quarter, lots of dunks and layups here for the Pels.

I feel like I watch this team and either they are a putrid disaster, or they eviscerate the opposition.

Either way, I’m not loving it! Much prefer this outcome of course.

Watching Hartenstein crush it for the Thunder is kinda heartbreaking tbh.

If Bridges has a strong game against the Magic Tuesday, it’s all aboard the Mikal bandwagon!

Who or what is a Drew Peterson?

The White&Brown-less Celtics are playing him a lot while leading the mighty Cavs by 12 in Cleveland…

More importantly I think Bridges looked a little more energetic on defense also.

35 points with 12 minutes to go aren’t enough to watch some Kolek or Hukporti?
(Dadiet played, not too well, in Westchester earlier)

Edit: make it 40…

In before “40 pts up bring on the rookies Thibs”

fake edit: beaten

seriously though Thibs. bring on Pacman

Dolan used to torture us with those lolKnicks teams, now it seems he only tortures some of us with the Gotham Sports app.

looking forward to thibs getting annoyed when the pelicans cut it to 35 and bringing back all the starters

Thibs going to mess up our defensive rating by pulling the starters!!!!!!

this was such an ass kicking I got bored and stoped watching but I suppose I can’t complain about that

In no space time continuum should 30 seconds take 30 minutes. That said, the Cavs Celtics game was as good as expected. (The only thing that can stop Cleveland is the Atlanta Hawks.)

Kenny Atkinson went full euro coach,
the Cavs didn’t even let the Celtics try the potential tying-three in 3 straight possessions, they fouled and fouled and fouled.
The last minute did feel like an hour!

Edit: meanwhile in Houston the Rockets and Thunder are both playing well…

Interesting point by Wally and Monica. Apparently the Knicks have held opponents to under 100 six times so far this season, apparently the same number of times as all of last season.

Doesn’t seem right, but it’s pretty interesting if true.

Obviously, only so much you can take away from the performance against a team that’s as much of a mess as the Pels are right now. But nonetheless, a Mikal breakout game was pretty desperately needed right now. So I’ll take it, regardless of the circumstances. Especially given that we struggled this past week against teams in various states of depletion and/or suckitude lately in Utah, Dallas, and Charlotte (even though we won there).

One cannot judge what we are based on today’s game. These games are for either doing what you are supposed to do or getting embarrassed. Tuesday is a good test to see where we stand. Judgement Day or sorts. I don’t think we are the favorites.

Somehow I missed that the Rockets are good now. Another example that it doesn’t have to take 19 unwatchable years to build a good team.

The Rockets are coming together nicely… it really feels like Udoka is a pretty great coach and got them playing much much better.

Will Hardy erased the game-winning layup for the Jazz by calling timeout. I’ve never seen that before.

Katz: “After tonight’s performance, the Knicks now lead the NBA in points per possession.”

The Grizzlies should have been good last year if it weren’t for bad luck (sort of) and injuries. Shouldn’t be surprising that they’ve come back strong.

It also shouldn’t be all that surprising that the rockets are good. They have a strong young coach and some leadership in FVV.

At the end of the day, the West looks formidable.
