2026 NBA Playoffs NBA Finals: Knicks vs. Spurs Game 3 – Lockdown Time

The Knicks return home with a commanding 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals. There is a lot being said about the fact that no team has ever won the first two games on the road and lost the series. That’s true, but at the same time, it’s only happened TWICE before this season, as most of the time, the home team is just flat out the better team.

That’s not the case this time, as the change to the Knicks in Game 3 altered the DNA of this Knicks team, and made them a much better team than the Spurs. So it just plain ol’ made sense that the Knicks beat this Spurs team.

The 1995 Rockets and the 1993 Bulls were better than the 1995 Magic and 1993 Suns. So this is just normal that the Knicks are up 2-0.

So now they just have to lock this series down by winning this game and make the rest of this Finals academic.

Let’s go, Knicks!

When he gets into that mode we typically lose. That’s what I’ve been complaining about all season. There’s a time for that, but it’s not what you want as a primary option.

Brown needs to play a center cuz it’s clear no rim protection will have the Spurs guards going to the paint all the time

We looked more stressed than the Spurs to start and played clueless defense. As defense started improving in the second quarter, so did our offense. A 42 point second quarter took care of the halftime score. The momentum is on our side but we need to play consistent defense in the second half. The Spurs got way too many open shots and easy drives.

The only good thing about this game is that Knicks’ possessions are only 24 seconds long, so I know each one will end eventually…

Game over. Game 4 decides the series. All that really matters is how strongly they feel like rigging it.

Castle has been by far the best guard on the floor tonight, he wasn’t gonna miss a FT.

We won some tight games, might lose this one the same way, it happens. Just keep grinding, it’s a long series.

This game was decided at the FT line. The Spurs and Knicks shot almost identically from the floor but the Spurs had 10 more FTA.

I said before series started Knicks in 6 and I’m sticking to it. This Spurs team is way too fucking good to get swept, serving the Knicks and especially us fans a big piece of humble pie tonight is probably a good thing.

At least half a dozen completely bonehead “Wemby to Castle-esque” dumb shit fucking turnovers and we still only lost by 4.

Bad game tonight. The team played without desperation and the Spurs seemed more loose than us all night long which is hard to believe. I believe those two very bad defensive quarters we had were decisive. We could still pull it off in the fourth but it was our offense that betrayed us at that point.

It’s going to be tough to listen to the media deifying the Spurs tomorrow, and I hate that we have to play again in San Antonio on Friday. Just realized the win streak ended. 15 straight would mean something

I honestly thought we’d never lose in the playoffs again. So now we really get to see if this was just a crazy hot streak or if they can dig deep one more time and win two more.

The foul calls piss me off but really it’s just Wemby being so flagrant against Brunson (and Alvarado last game).

They won’t bc national discourse flows from the announcer, and Benedict Breen is carrying Wemby’s water for the league.

Finally Mike Brown talked about officiating. I would like to have heard that in games 1 and 2 already when officiating was even worse.

Normal basketball considerations don’t really matter. The league is essentially spotting the Spurs 10+ points each game with the insane one sided officiating and they’ve now shown they’ll do it at home and in consecutive games.

Maybe they’ll stop when we’re 2-2, but then we’re at a huge disadvantage. Winning game 2 turned out to mean nothing because they just rigged game 3 even harder.

I can’t suspend disbelief anymore. They just went too far with it. Like why do we even care what happens?

It would be so much better to have just been completely outclassed. At least then it would have been about basketball.
