The Knicks need to win their last two games, and for the Celtics to lose their last two games to finally win their division for just the second time in over thirty years.
The Pelicans have no reason to lose tonight, so there’s a chance that the Celtics could lose to them!
In addition, the Knicks winning tonight would knock the Raptors back towards the #6 seed, so the Knicks would get to face them in the first round if the Knicks finish in the #3 seed, and there’s no way that this Raptors team could ever take a series from the Knicks, so I’d advise them to keep the Raptors in the #6 seed (the Knicks can easily beat the Hawks, Sixers, Magic, and Hornets, as well, but just not quite as easily as they can beat the Raptors).
Let’s go, Knicks!

Hey Brian, this would be 53 wins…
el grande gato!!!
KAT is looking perky!
like he finally trusts his teammates to get him the ball…
Knicks start great, then begin playing with their food…
Would be fitting for this season if the Knicks lose this game.
Towns to a cutting Alvarado is mighty tasty…
Looks like Sunday’s game will be meaningless for Knicks, will be interesting to see if they sit players.
Nice to shoot 21% from three and be up by 13…
Pelicans rolling over in Boston so the 3 seed it is
Love Clyde calling Sandro “Moo moo” and wearing his cow suit to the game in (honor?) of him.
Interesting that the Cavs are saying that they’d prefer the Hawks over Toronto…
Shit OG is out rest of game with an ankle injury.
I think Toronto is 3-0 vs Cavs this season.
Would be something if Raptors lost Sunday {it’s against Brooklyn} so it might be impossible and went to the play in and tried to angle a 1st round matchup against Detroit
Second round – Cavs maybe
This is one ugly third quarter so far…
That’s better…
Pistons washing the Hornets
Not convinced Boston would be harder in round 2 compared to Detroit .
Wemby vs Flagg battle going on
HUK!!!!
Two really nice finishes by the big guy…
Huk saying Jericho Sims who!!
Yeah, really.
wire to wire whooping…
Why is Brunson back in?
Brunson back in with 5 minutes left and up 17. That makes sense.
in a now meaningless game?
I’m hoping that all the starters play 45 minutes on Sunday so I can hit my over bet and 54 win prediction!
What’s up with OG? Is he ok?
So here are the possibilities (please correct me if I’m wrong!)
It’s now between ATL, TOR, ORL, and PHI.
If ATL wins, they clinch 5th seed.
If ATL loses and TOR wins, then TOR is 5th and ATL is 6th.
If TOR and ATL both win, then ATL is 5th and TOR is 6th.
If TOR loses, then:
-ATL is 5th
-If ORL wins, ORL is 6th and TOR and PHI are in the play-in
-If PHI wins and ORL loses, PHI is 6th and TOR and ORL are in the play-in
-If both PHI and ORL lose, they are in the play-in and TOR is 6th
Sounds correct
Nets are tanking hard – Raps will win
Hawks vs Miami- Hawks could lose? Games in Miami
All that said, here are the Sunday finale games:
-ORL @ BOS (Celts will probably rest everyone so likely ORL win
-ATL @ MIA (MIA is playing for home court vs. CHA in play-in, so this could be very competitive)
-BKN @ TOR (BKN is tanking and would lose lottery position if they won so very likely TOR win)
-MIL @ PHI (MIL might care about lottery standing so PHI should win)
So the most likely scenario is that ORL, TOR, and PHI all win. That would put ORL and PHI in the play in and who we play between ATL and TOR would depend on who won the ATL-MIA game.
Does this seem correct?
As a wondering, is is possible that ATL tanks vs. MIA because they would prefer to play the Knicks over the Cavs?
Raptors and Hawks own the tiebreaker over the Magic so even if Hawks lose and Raptors win Hawks will be the 6th seed
With the Knicks likely sitting players on Sunday, I’m not sure how much Miami is going to play their players. They need the Knicks to win for the game to matter .
Raptors and Hawks own the tiebreaker over the Magic so even if Hawks lose and Raptors win Hawks will be the 6th seed
Does that contradict anything I posted?
It’s interesting that all of the East games start at 6:00 PM so no team will be able to base their approach on a result, at least until the second half.
I misread it, you’re correct .
Rockets in an interesting spot
If the Lakers win tonight and beat the tanking Jazz Sunday and the Nuggets throw the game Sunday against the Spurs the Rockets would play the Nuggets instead of the Lakers..
With the Wizards loss tonight Knicks get the first pick in round 2 .
Why would the Nuggets prefer to play the Thunder in the second round over the Spurs?
One correction: if ATL loses and TOR wins, TOR isn’t necessarily the 5th seed and ATL the 6th.
TOR wins the two-way tiebreak with ATL, but an ORL win could create a 3-way tie, in which ATL would come out on top as the 5th seed, because of its status as a division winner. TOR would then prevail over ORL for the 6th.
And an ORL win over the Celtics in Boston on Sunday is very plausible because the Magic have multiple reasons to care and the Celts have none.
