From the last thread:
If he can turn Sochan into a 40% 3P shooter… MAX PETER PATTON !!! 😀
Along with our replay guy, max them both….
So Leon essentially traded Yabu and two picks likely to convey in the back end of the second round for Jose Alvarado and the space to immediately sign Jeremy Sochan. That pretty much cements our playoff roster, save for a swap-out of anyone on the roster for a waived or bought-out player in late March or after.
Any guesses on whether Leon will make a move? And if yes, who it would be for?
Z-man, I guess it depends on whether there are further injuries. I could see them buying out Clarkson, for instance, if they think Deuce will be back soon, just so they can bring in a fourth center. But that market doesn’t look great.
Yeah, that’s my thinking, Alan. I think that both Kolek and Dadiet are guaranteed for next year, so it would make no sense to cut either of them. And I don’t think either of Mo or Huk are going anywhere. It would have to be Clarkson, and it would most likely be for an emergency big.
I like this team top to bottom now. I wouldn’t change anything. We have more than enough scoring, Mitch is rounding back into peak form, we added two defenders in backup roles, solved the backup PG situation, a couple of 3rd string players are good enough to play without it being a major issue and we have a couple of young players that could improve between now and the playoffs.
We just have to stay healthy and Brown/Brunson have to figure out a way to incorporate Towns into the offense better so we are getting more out of him than the occasional open 3, out of control drives to the basket and OREBs.
I do like the idea of one more center for Mitch emergency but also for KAT foul trouble in the playoffs emergency but at the end of the day Huk might be better than any vet that would actually be available and maybe keeping Clarkson around for one random playoff game scoring outburst that wins us a game might be useful? If we have situation where KAT gets into early foul trouble in a playoff game and Mitch can’t play 30 plus minutes, Brown could just play Sochan for a bit if he doesn’t trust Huk.
The team seems pretty set. I agree the biggest things now are health and getting Brunson to buy into being more pass first and getting KAT involved.
I don’t think they’ll cut Clarkson if they can help it. It’s just not Rose’s MO to treat players poorly and I think, despite his benching, Clarkson does still want to be here.
If needed, I think they would just bring McCullar or Jemison onto the main roster so they can use them during the playoffs. If there’s a vet willing to come here and play 4th string, they’re not going to be very good anyway.
At minimum, Sochan can take McCullar’s place for defensive line changes at the end of games.
I was really hoping we could package Clarkson in a deal. He deserves a better opportunity. I’m not quite sure if Shamet is really better than him, but Shamet’s game and his growth as a Knick made him a far better lineup fit- regardless of who’s on the court. I had hopes for Clarkson as a microwave scorer for us, but Deuce and Shamet has had that more than covered this season. But…I imagine we are gonna need Clarkson in the playoffs for those times where guys aren’t making shots. So, unless we can bring Pate up or one of Dadiet or Jones can emerge a bit, I recommend keeping him. I also think Brown trusts McCullar to an extent, so we don’t have to worry as much about him.
Assuming no injuries and Clarkson accepting his role as an out of rotation player, love to keep him for the playoffs. Put him in situationally and our opponent’s defense has to adjust.
Lady Raven just bought me a Knicks sweatshirt for Valentine’s Day. My first merch. What a mensch.
Happy V Day y’all!
Nice, Raven. I assume you did not get her a Jordan Clarkson jersey.
Knicks Shooting Stars champions! Allan Houston deserves at least a 10 day contract.
We won the NBA Cup but this somehow feels sweeter after that losing streak.
Oh wow, Twitter having a field day. Many better jokes that that.
