I’m not afraid of the Cavs, I’m afraid of our coach. He’s just so bad at making adjustment when the other team makes adjustments.

    Last night’s game was meaningless.

It was a B2B on the road and we were missing our best player and only serious interior defender (they killed us inside).

That said, they made some adjustments in teh second half. They were covering the 3 and OG better outside and started moving the ball really well.

The Cavs may be deeper than us, especially with Hunter, but imo we have the better starting 5 at 100%. What they have is the better coach.

I watched the game in two separate pieces, because I had morning meetings that interrupted me at halftime. I have several observations

The first half our shooting was so good it was unsustainable, but our final three point percentage was 30.9%, so the second half shooting was awful. This could have been tired legs.

The Cavaliers seemed to do a good job of forcing Hart to take shots. He took nineteen of them, more than anyone else on the team. That probably too many for him. He scored nineteen
Points on all those shots , which isn’t great

The Cavs out rebounded us 44 to 39 and it looked worse than that, probably because they made a lot of shots near the rim. Mitch would have helped.

Kolek had the best plus minus on the team (ignoring the short garbage time stints) and he didn’t even look that good. He must have been doing something right, but I’m not sure what is was.

Towns was alright, but got into foul trouble, and that hampered us. I don’t think that was totally chance. The defensive matchups were difficult for him.

Overall you can make a case that we would do better with our full roster, but I’m not sure it would be enough to win.

Ja Morant in trouble yet again. He just can’t stop it with the gun-related stuff.

Ja Morant in trouble yet again. He just can’t stop it with the gun-related stuff.

IMO, the Ja stuff is overblown and he’s only getting in trouble because of what happened with him last season.

So many players do gun related hand gestures when they hit a big shot. Melo used to do the 3 to the dome. Did that invoke suicide? Players have made their hands like guns and then blown them like they were blowing smoke off a gun after shooting it. It’s not violent or gang related. Kind of dumb to get him in trouble, IMO. Maybe he should be smarter knowing the trouble he got into but in the heat of the moment after hitting a couple of big shots, I’m sure he wasn’t even thinking about the implications of it.

That’s kind of the point. He wasn’t thinking. But I agree with you that it is overblown just because of who he is.

I’ve even seen Brunson doing something very close to shooting a bow and arrow into the sky after particularly timely 3s. But no one says a word because of who he is.

I’ve even seen Brunson doing something very close to shooting a bow and arrow into the sky after particularly timely 3s

To be fair, we don’t have a bow and arrow problem in this country.

    Who
    When
    Why
    Where

Indeed. And I still think that it’s ridiculous that it was felt that “Washington Bullets” needed to be changed to “Washington Wizards.”

I seem to remember that Steve Novak would make a gun related gesture after hitting a key three. Nobody thought twice about it.

I saw Lu Dort get a tech for doing the gun gesture after hitting a 3. He argued that in Canada the number three is demonstrated with the thumb, index, and middle finger and that the tech was culturally biased. (Luckily there are no Uyghur players in the NBA — in Kyrgyzstan they count to three by miming cocking a shotgun and firing three blasts into the sky).

The discount double check was a championship belt celebration popularized by Aaron Rodgers.

Another day, another 37.5% of the posts from one guy who has nothing interesting to say.

Eventually this will just be Doogie’s personal diary

Lmao’ing at the article in the links section suggesting we trade bridges and mitch for jerami grant

I wasn’t expecting a win, so I didn’t take too much from the game. It would have been awesome, but it wasn’t expected (especially without Mitch). That said, I don’t think we should try to hang anything on “They played them well for a half!” As that’s just meaningless. You can say the whole game was meaningless, which is fair enough, but especially “They played them well for a half.”

Mitch in his meaninglessly small sample (but, hey, it’s still fun) has made our defense 6pts better when he’s on the court.

Towns is no longer a positive or even break even on defense, we’re 2.7pts worse with him on defense.

Another day, another 37.5% of the posts from one guy who has nothing interesting to say.

Just to give you an update, Pags. It’s now down to 36.8% of the posts.

    If you know, you know.

EPM now gives OG a +3.1, putting him over KAT at +2.9. They’re at 33rd and 36th, respectively.

KAT still ranks ahead by several metrics. The EPM rank is probably due in part to the metrics not recognizing his bad knee. OG probably doesn’t look as good without KATs spacing either.

Obviously OGs effectiveness on defense is the biggest factor along with his offensive explosion in the absence of Brunson, KAT struggling during this time likely has an outsized effect on his value.

Also, worth noting that EPM doesn’t even rank KAT that poorly on defense, though I think this will change the further we get away from his time with Gobert.

I wasn’t expecting a win, so I didn’t take too much from the game. It would have been awesome, but it wasn’t expected (especially without Mitch). So we’ve had a couple of games where we played the Cavs competitively for a while before they pulled away. That first game means more to me than this one, which was minus Brunson. (And also minus Mitch and both of our rotation reserve guards.)

Basically, the thing to hang our hats on in terms of a second round matchup with either Cleveland or Boston is that having the team at full health, with a much more forgiving schedule than the rest of the season, will allow us to show better than we did in the regular season. Then again, Mitch generally struggles with this Boston group even when healthy, so… yeah.

Nope, it’s 29.2 percent. You all have as much control over what that percentage is as I do. Post more if you want the percentage to be lower.

    And fuck you.

Yeah, playing without four rotation players, I am not going to get too worked about losing. Mostly you just have to tip your hats to the Cavs for the way they ground us up.

Nope, it’s 29.2 percent. You all have as much control over what that percentage is as I do. Post more if you want the percentage to be lower.

    And fuck you.

Have you considered that your posts also reduce the number of posts by others?

I can’t be the only one in here who checks the blog with a mind towards posting a thought and just loses interest when it’s another Doogiefest?

I know I’m an asshole and everything but I’d rather a diversity of assholes than a wall of grey goo.

Yep, I’ve considered it, but that’s a you problem, not a me problem.

29.6 percent. This is a new fun game that I didn’t create.

It is just mind-boggling how fucking tone-deaf Doogie is to the backlash from fellow posters. He has become the equivalent of a “locker room cancer” on this blog. I don’t bother responding to 99% of his posts, and wish others would do the same, but even that probably would make much difference. When it is often the case that his self-involved vapid schtick is driving 30-ish% of the site’s traffic, that’s a sign that the cancer is metastasizing and will eventually drive enough posters away to kill the blog. I, for one, am sticking around no matter what, but if Knickerblogger.net does die, you won’t need an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

I agree with Donnie (whether he meant it sarcastically or not), which doesn’t happen very often. It’s a you problem.

And someone should tell me exactly what was so offensive about any of my posts today before Pags so ineffectually tried to call me out for no reason.

Doogie, people have been saying variations of what I’m about to say to you for over a year; I’m not sure why you can’t grasp it, so I’ll type very slowly so you might better understand.

One of the worst aspects of this site is the occasional hijacking of a thread. I’ve complained vociferously about this at times (and hey, huge kudos to those posters who have largely stopped it!).

If you’re approaching posting every third comment, you’re well within the range of hijacking a thread. This is a really wonderful community, and none of us come onto this site hoping to read you rambling and then arguing that you’re not being a dick when someone asks you to stop and then cursing other people, endlessly, all day. If that’s an ‘us’ problem, the only actual solution for us is to stop coming onto the site, which would be a shame.

Two adages to keep in mind. The first is write to your audience. If a significant portion of your audience complains about what you are posting and/or how often, re-think your perspective on this, because it is clearly wrong.

I’ll leave the other adage alone, as it’s pretty insulting. Hopefully the one will suffice.

I’m the one who introduced the topic about Ja Morant when no one else had anything to say this morning. That’s related to basketball. How was *that* a problem? How is that *not* writing to the audience?

Writing about farting in public restrooms and sexual exploits is definitely not writing to the audience of this site, but that’s tolerated. However, writing about an NBA player is somehow *not* writing to the audience of this site. Makes zero sense, and you know that.

If that’s an ‘us’ problem, the only actual solution for us is to stop coming onto the site, which would be a shame.

I can think of another that I believe would poll at 90%+ among frequent posters at this point. It’s not one I take lightly, especially since Doogie’s shtick involves dull nothingness as opposed to anything seriously malign, but at a certain point ignoring what literally everyone in a given community is telling you is its own form of malice.

Did I say that was a problem? I did not say that was a problem. What did I say the problem was? Go back and see if you can figure it out…

I agree with Donnie (whether he meant it sarcastically or not), which doesn’t happen very often. It’s a you problem.

By “us” I mean that all of us have a problem and that problem is you.

Right. You didn’t say that was a problem. I totally get that. However, Pags said that it was a problem by saying that I had “nothing interesting to say,” even though I brought up basketball-related content, and that was all I’d done today prior to his posting about me. Then you all decided to pile on to what he had posted after that and started maligning me based on what he had said, when it had seemed perfectly OK prior to him posting about me.

I’m pretty good at counting cards, Doogie. I’d wager at this point that you’ve written the words “farting in public restrooms” more than anyone ever on here and most places for that matter. If you’re begging a special pass because I got one just know I didn’t. Plenty of people here think I’m a bore, I’m dumb or I’m annoying. Some don’t. I’m not here to fight. I know that in the end I’ll be proven right. About what I don’t know yet. I do generally like hearing what other smart people have to say otherwise I’d having nothing to write about. But you tend to say mean things when the going gets tough like “fuck you” and whatever. That’s not very godly of you.

Doogie, for the record my comment about it now being down to 36.8% was just a joke. I was just poking fun of you from last night how you kept posting the win probability of the Cavs game. I found it to be a humerous quirk and I was making fun of that. I wasn’t trying to be mean.

I actually agree with Doogie here that he didn’t need to get called out by Pags. Up until that point in the thread, Doogie had posted a lot but there were only a few posters who were interacting with each other, so it didn’t really seem bad.

But I’ll also add…that you should ignore someone when they do something like that about you. Because while I did not think you had hijacked the thread up until that point, the thread has definitely been hijacked since then because you made a big deal out of it.

Just remember the ole I’m rubber and you’re glue adage. Just let it slide off ya.

Morant is hitting 30% of his 3s this year. Nobody should be worried about his shooting.

Morant is hitting 30% of his 3s this year. Nobody should be worried about his shooting.

    Lol

Morant is hitting 30% of his 3s this year. Nobody should be worried about his shooting.

    good one 😉

At the time I was pissed off we didn’t get to draft Morant, but not so much anymore.

I’m annoying to a lot of folks…it’s the volume/tone of my voice and aggressive nature that mostly does me in with folks…

here it’s mostly off topic non sequiter stuff going to nowhere…

I thought doogie had blended on in and we were all moving forward…

I don’t know, probably better ways to spend the day than talking about a particular poster’s behavior…

here the end of the year is starting to make me edgy a bit, i am so ready to have jalen and deuce back, make it through these last games healthy and get the playoffs started…

Getting a little worried that we’re going to get the Pistons instead of the Bucks now. Only a half game separates those two teams.

Heard that Brunson is expected to practice tomorrow. I hope they’re not rushing him back so that he can play in four of the last six games and be eligible for post-season awards. What is the best case? That he gets first- or second-team All-NBA? I mean, if it’s important to him, I hope he gets it, but only if he’s fully healthy. But realistically, who remembers who makes those All-NBA teams even one year later?

Tough call on Brunson and coming back early. On the one hand you’re absolutely right, Doogie, last thing you want is to rush him back, especially for awards. Then again, you may want to very slowly ease him in, so 5-15 minutes a game for a bit isn’t a bad idea on its own; plus as many have pontificated (including me), a BIG question is getting everyone on the same page with Brunson in a way that works, preferably before the cauldron of the playoffs.

Also, I don’t know anything about his contract, but lots of players have kickers for awards and the like, often quite consequential. And being something like All-NBA can play a role in the next round of contract negotiations… (i.e., the player and his agent remember…).

IIRC, he has to also play 20 minutes in a game for it to “count” towards award status. Then again, that probably wouldn’t be a problem for Thibs.

I’m impressed, by the way, with Thibs’ restraint regarding Mitch. Even when he started the other night, he kept him to 21 minutes.

Since you clearly love this site so much, you should foster its growth, not kill it. If people ask you to stop doing annoying stuff, just do it. There’s fight or flight, but you don’t ever flight, man.

There is definitely something to be did for having Brunson’s first few games back not being playoff games so he can get up to speed with the team.

jalen’s ankle feels okay to me…time to get back to playing ball…

isn’t this the second time deuce has missed time this year with the groin thing…has this happened before this season?

    FROM SHAMS:

The Cleveland Cavaliers and former first-round pick Chuma Okeke have agreed to a deal, filling the East leaders’ final open roster spot, sources tell ESPN. Okeke averaged 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for NBA G League Westchester this season.

Chuma Okeke is interesting. I don’t know why we have Tucker on the roster instead of him. He did well in Westchester and on the 76ers (see link). I’m not one who thinks we should have taken Warren. The end of your bench doesn’t just sit there rooting, they are also needed for scrimmages in practice. I assume we needed a big body for this, not another guard. But Okeke and Tucker play the same position, so Okeke could have filled practice needs.

    https://www.libertyballers.com/2025/4/2/24399562/editor-in-chief-mailbag-part-ii-cooper-flagg-tyrese-proctor-chuma-okeke-sixers-2025-nba-draft

I asked much earlier today what I had done that was so “annoying” when Pags disparaged me for no reason. I was never given a response, because of course there is none. All I’d done was bring up Morant this morning. And all I’d done this afternoon after that shit was finally over was bring up when Brunson should come back.

So if you don’t have an answer as to what was so annoying about those two topics, either, then fuck you, too.

i almost forgot how not fun it was to watch luka just hold the ball all offensive possession, time and time again…it works, but…

There was nothing annoying about either of those topics. But you did not post a comment about Ja, or even a comment and then a reply to someone else. You posted SIX comments within the first 17.

As Pags said, rather humorously, but as with much of humor it’s funny because it’s true, “Eventually this will just be Doogie’s personal diary.”

I was thinking it’s a bit like having Posting Tourette’s. And now with the requisite swearing, too.

And for the record, JUST ON THIS THREAD we have Pags, Swift, Donnie, Z-Man, Raven, Noble, Clarence, and JK47 all having a problem with you.

You can say “Fuck you” to us all you want, Doogie. The problem will still be you.

    Fuck you, too

Nobody else posts like this. You change for like 5 seconds then unchange back again. I get that you can’t be someone you’re not. Leopards can’t change their spots, blah blah blah. Even though Bob did. And Pags did. Maybe Brian can help fix things here?

was checking through the menu and dashboard to see if there was some field to directly message either BC or Mike K.

it does not appear as though either are inclined to take action in regard to doogie, maybe some matter of free speech principle or some such perhaps…maybe doogie kicks in on patron more than most/any…

was thinking though, if the group feels this strongly, which it seems to, and the feeling is not dissipating, which it seems to not be, than yeah let’s work towards some real resolution…

did come across this reference to a group called: the satanic temple on the dashboard/menu stuff…which, despite the weird misnomer of a name seems to be trying to do good…took me a minute though to figure all that out…odd name for a charitable organization…maybe i’m just getting old…

anyways, no way i see to directly contact either BC or Mike K…

i don’t know, maybe just randomly bombard BC with comments the next time he pokes his head in (a la JK’s gif there)…

i hate being stuck in the past, if the site is getting stuck on one broken spoke in the wheel, pull it out already, wheel will still turn fine missing that one spoke…

so yeah, next time BC pops up – maybe we all need to yell: hey, what the hecks…in unison…

my intuition says though, the awareness is already there with BC, and probably Mike K. too…so, i don’t know…

I did a tour many years ago with a band that had ten people in it, plus eight other people in the traveling party. There was occasionally some conflict between people, but the one thing that unified us all was a deep loathing of the tour manager. The main reason everybody loathed him was that the guy felt the need to dominate every conversation, and was just the most relentlessly stale and unfunny human being who ever lived. Would try to crack a joke and everybody would just sort of sit there in annoyed silence. He was like the grim reaper— if you were having a good time he would make sure to figure out a way to wreck it.

If you were on a flight, and you were stuck in the seat next to him, you were bummed. If three or four people were standing around and having a conversation, and he walked up, everybody would just disperse. We’d arrive at the venue and within minutes everybody who worked at the place would experience the same revulsion. It was a stunning combination of a need to run his mouth all the time mixed with a hopeless inability to read a room.

    Anyway.
