Topic: what’s your emergency plan if OG bolts?

One option would be to trade Randle for a wing or a couple players to fill that void. George or DeRozan or Kuz? None fill the shoes of OG but give you different dimensions. Or do you just give the job to Hart and maybe lean on your draft picks a little more than you would otherwise?

@KnickFan — Thanks for your link yesterday to the draft guide. Much appreciated.

“take a deep breathe for us dan…”

You’re the man Geo. I’m on my way to Puerto Rico. Gonna try to surf Rincon. Hopefully small waves.

I don’t like effects but I do use compression. My Princeton has beautiful reverb and tremolo.

    Could we really lose OG?

I’m also kind of getting into the little Persian cucumbers over the slicing. Just more efficient.

I have a complete, perhaps irrational, confidence that Leon signs players that he wants to sign. So the Plan B if OG bolts is the plan Leon has to actually let him bolt. Unlike the Steve Mills’ Plan B of immediately using all cap space so it looks like a Plan B.

My plan if OG walks is to care about this basketball team less. It would probably be great for my mental health actually, but I hope to god it doesn’t come to pass.

devin carter is already 22 but he seems good. shot looks funky but i think it might be a fake hitch and turn out okay. i know he’s not a candidate to be around at 24-25.

You have a vintage Princeton Reverb, danvt? Those are beautiful amps. I have a 1964 Princeton, no reverb, the “Tuxedo” model. I’ve owned it since 1996, traded a shitty Peavey PA for it. My amp goes for upwards of $3500 now, and the reverb versions are worth even more.

that is sooooo cool Dan…how awesome yo go from that old world forest beauty, to some island beauty…

one definite thing I picked up from growing up in new york, just how dang pretty the puerto rican ladies are…

I’m missing out on the tiny cucumber thing…

yeah, maybe some sweet baby gerkins sliced thin on a sandwich…

regular old cucumbers, not getting it…

what did you have on your pizza clarence? what was the beverage to go along with it?

tried to convince one of the boys to stop in to this craft brewery that was close by the park we were playing at last night…

even bribed with soda and food, he wasn’t having it though…I haven’t had a drink in a while, had a taste for a beer though last night…

there was a grill outside, a braut (or even some tacos) and a beer would have fit nice last night…

hmmmm, maybe next time bring the other son instead…the craft breweries are such a great place to chill at, reminds me of going out to drink in germany…

Ha. KB is fun today. JK mine’s not vintage but I got it recently and it’s my forever amp. I had a twin when I was a kid but it was too powerful and wouldn’t warm up. This tone is much softer though I don’t overdrive it. I like clean tones ala Mark Knopfler.

Geo, ya Mon I am lucky to be surrounded by beauty. But I do miss NYC every day. Mom lives on 90th so I visit but I can never get enough

“yeah, maybe some sweet baby gerkins sliced thin on a sandwich…“

    Did you visit VT recently?

Nice amps! Mine is 1973 Fender Quad Reverb. Somewhat rare but prolly not as valuable b/c toooooo heavy 😉

The Yankees are in a weird spot wherein they have the best record in baseball and are also signing Oakland A’s outcasts and it makes sense

Our niece came in to town and brought her future of the species friends so we did the pizza party on the roof thing. Wizard Hat Pizza. Latent yeast 48 hr fermentation. Not sure of hydration(they’re all hot pizza guys but my charms aren’t that charming – see d) Funghi bianchi, spicy peperoncini (pepperoni) and speck n pineapple all with killer homemade ranch sauce.

The funghi bianchi is as good as I’ve had in town.

I forgot to mention the next time anyone gets out to TLV you gotta go to Jasminos. Apex street food. The veal sweatbreads in classic shawarma dress up were mind blowing good rivaled only by the calves brain (risky). The classic lamb guy was the one by which you’ll measure all other pita sandwiches.

Topic: what’s your emergency plan if OG bolts?

Given that I estimated the chances of losing OG at approximately equal to a nuclear war with Russia, I’d build a bomb shelter in my back yard. Then again, given the recent developments I think I should at least look online to see what the going rate for bomb shelters is these days even if we bring OG back.

“Another trusted source has advised me to keep the Knicks on the list as a potential trade suitor for George if he opts into the final season of his current contract…That step would position George to push for a trade to another team”

It would be a risky move given his age and injury history, but I read yesterday the Knicks tried to trade for him a couple of years ago but the price was too steep. Given where this team is now, the motivation may be stronger. At a minimum that means we were interested and the Clippers were listening. If LA is simply unwilling to give him what he wants, it may come down to the NY and Philly.

If we rolled out a team of I-Hart, Randle, OG, George and Brunson we’d leap into second behind Boston and they would want no part of us.

The question is how do we match salaries even if we include Bojan and Mitch? Does Randle have to be included somehow? I can’t see them breaking up the NOVA connection.

Rumor that the Knicks were talking to the Wizards about Mitch.

Could that mean they are looking to make a deal for Tyus Jones?

The Wiz were rumored to be interested in Capela.

PG-13 is CAA and we are feigning interest to make sure the Clippers pay him is my guess, not sure what we’d have to do to fit his huge salary in here

How do we feel about I-Hart, OG, George, DDV, and Brunson with Tyus Jones coming off the bench as the backup PG with J-Hart, Deuce, and Precious.

I think Randle, Bojan and picks works.

The only way they pull the trigger on PG is if they think it demonstrably tilts the Odds to favorable against the Celts, right? It makes us a potential nightmare. It doesn’t make us favorites, right? Why would they mortgage an opportunity to become that?

If PG opted in, trading for him wouldn’t be that difficult. Bojan/Mitch/Deuce gets it done salary wise, before we start talking about picks of course. We’d be hard-capped at the first apron, so at a minimum we would almost definitely not make any picks this year, and would have to get very creative to keep both OG and iHart. But it’s doable.

Re: the Washington stuff, we could trade Mitch for Kispert and a small salary like Davis/Baldwin/Butler/Omoruyi (assuming we’d waive the latter). How you feel about that probably depends a lot on how you feel about positional scarcity in general–Mitch is a helluva lot better than Kispert, but there’s obviously a “shooting wing” premium and a “rim-running center” depreciation.

Re: the Washington stuff, we could trade Mitch for Kispert and a small salary like Davis/Baldwin/Butler/Omoruyi (assuming we’d waive the latter).

I don’t follow the Wizards day to day, but I think it’s very likely they view Kispert as one of the core pieces in their rebuild. Tyus Jones on the other hand is a few years older (more on our timetable), but they’d have to find/draft another PG. It sounds like the teams were talking though. So something was tossed around.

I’m not sure there’s a single deal that would make us the favorites over the Celtics. IMO, this Celtics team was one of the best NBA teams of all time. I think what you try to do is close the gap and match up well enough that we are capable of beating them in a mild upset or if they have an injury that makes us the favorite. George and OG guarding Tatum and Brown is pretty interesting to contemplate. Though they have the pieces to make it really tough on Brunson.

Tyus Jones is a free agent. There’s 0 chance he’s going to agree to come here so he can play 15mpg backing up Brunson. I honestly don’t know who we could be targeting if the Washington report is true. Jordan Poole maybe? He could be a decent buy-low candidate and his contract expires after the 2025-26 so that could be a decent trade chip.

If the Knicks traded for Jordan Poole I would enlist in the Ukrainian army to ensure my prompt death.

The only Wizard worth getting would be Avdija, who might not even be any good.

I think Randle has to go out if we’re bringing PG in. LA might be better off with Randle next to Kawhi anyway, or they could flip him for picks/players.

The rebounding might take a hit, but having 4 starters who can shoot the three at 40+% does sound nice.

Strat — I hope this is not a dig at Ukraine. More than double the Russian soldiers have died in their unprovoked attack of Ukraine. Russia cannot win.

Strat — I hope this is not a dig at Ukraine. More than double the Russian soldiers have died in their unprovoked attack of Ukraine. Russia cannot win.

It wasn’t a dig. It was my view of reality.

IMO it’s impossible to know how many have died on each side because both sides are lying through their teeth. The US media is not trustworthy either because the US has a vested interest in keeping the tax money (debt) flowing so the west can win and incorporate Ukraine and all its rare earth minerals, farmland, and strategic location against Russia to our side. Same with Europe. Both media’s are just parroting the company line.

I suspect the reports of Ukraine using long retired soldiers, prisoners, women, teens, and others long past military age in the fight are accurate. That tells me what my chances of living would be if I was in Ukraine and fighting. IMO not very good.

IMO almost everything we read in US newspapers and see on US news shows about this war is bullshit. I’ve only found a couple of journalists that imo have looked at the history and causes of the conflict that actually started in 2014, ethnic issues inside the border, US goals, Russia’s reason for invading etc.. and reported honestly. They are mostly guys that are independent from their former more mainstream days. I trust that handful to at least be trying to tell the truth.

    Russia cannot win.

I don’t want to be the one to break the bad news to you but if the war miraculously stopped today the rump husk of Ukraine is already gone in the charnel house east of the Dnipper. Demographically they are finished and you can already envision the EU’s solution…. import ten million workers from other lands. https://www.kyivpost.com/analysis/25730

Wasn’t it Ukraine that ground down the German war machine. At massive cost. Beyond reckoning actually.

IMO it’s impossible to know how many have died on each side

    that’s not exactly true…

granted there are folks whom will refute data contrary to their beliefs…that’s not you though…

what’s really shockingly despairing – the amount of smaller long term struggles around the world…

looking at demographics, “conditions”, let’s say those illustrative of “success” 🙂 , will not only dramatically change from zip code to zip code, but rather block to block…very telling, and fascinating…

empathy and sympathy are not always common traits…

yep, most often lift my head, look around and think but for the grace of god go i…

edit: my expectations or need are not such that i need to see an exact number…

Wasn’t it Ukraine that ground down the German war machine. At massive cost. Beyond reckoning actually.

Review your history of WWII. I’m sure it isn’t taught as much anymore. The Battles of Kursk and Stalingrad are where the Red Army ground the Germans down. Kursk is about 60 miles and Stalingrad about 150 miles from the Ukraine border inside Russia.

There were Ukrainian citizens in the Red Army, for sure, but they were nowhere near the majority.

Russians specialize in this sort of charnel house conflict.

Thanks nep. I am definitely poorly educated. But also poorly indoctrinated. I remember something about the Ukrainian winters but who knows anymore. I bet you do.

    I bet you do.

you sort of make that sound like a bad thing clarence, i’ve had a keen interest over time to military history and the art of warfare…

not at all related to not so latent anger issues coupled with violent desires…nope, not even a little bit…

seriously though, i loved watching pbs’ world at war when i was a kid…

Not at all. I am poorly educated. I wish I knew more about that part of history but it didn’t stick in my mind well enough hence the question. Upside of poorly educated though is i still enjoy learning things that trigger my dopamine.

I do not have much interest in PG3 but trading Randle and Bojan for him would be okay.

I don’t think it quite works though. I think we’d have to unload Bojan to a third team because I think him + Randle is a hair too much money.

If we could get Charlotte involved and trade them Bojan and move Bertrans to LA with Randle that would work.

If PG3 is leaving anyway, Randle is a good get for them and I wouldn’t expect to send many or possibly any picks.

If it costs a lot I’d pass because while he’s an upgrade on Randle he is older, more injury prone, and more overpaid. But for one protected pick + maybe the fugazi Washington one I’d do it. But that’s the most I’d offer.

Also don’t trade Mitch. His value is at an all time low and at full health and fitness he is even better than IHart and an elite defensive anchor.

The only way I move him is for a superstar.

    @TheSteinLine
The Knicks have hired Casey Smith, longtime athletic trainer for both the Dallas Mavericks and USA Basketball, as their new vice president of sports medicine.

    @FredKatz
Smith was with the Mavs for 20 years, with the Suns before that and is a big name inside the industry.

Strat — last comment and then back to Knicks. If you want non-mainstream media on Ukraine here is a great source. On twitter @AndrewPerpetua . Andrew aggregates photos from drones, etc daily and visually identifies equipment losses daily. He also compares this to the stock of Russian equipment and as well as there manufacturing capacity to replace the equipment. What you will see is that Russia is on average losing 3x the equipment of Ukraine. Couple that with Europe and the US supporting Ukraine while Russia gains foreign equipment from Iran and North Korea, you will see what direction this war will go in. Russia has nearly burned through its modern stockpiles of Tanks, BMP’s, artillery, etc. as a result, as of late it has been sending WW2 tanks to the front. It rounds up conscripts forcibly off the street and send them to the front to engage in waves of “meat grinder” assaults.

The most modern Western equipment is just entering the war after rounds of training. This includes F-16 and ATACMs. As a result of the recent Russian offensive in Kharkiv, western governments have given the green light for Ukraine to use western equipment to attack troop, aircraft and equipment aggregations on Russian territory. This disastrous new Russian offense has resulted in 8-1 equipment losses and the minimal territory originally gained has now largely been recaptured. In opening up this new front Russia now does not have sufficient troops in reserve to support any of the fronts. Russia’s exterior lines take 3x the distance to support as Ukraines interior lines.

Ukraine has steadily degraded Russian air defense in Crimea over the past months. Its vaunted latest generation S-500 missile defense systems have not intercepted a single ATACM. With the F-16s entering the battle, the situation does not look pretty for Crimea. Ukraine is waiting to fully degrade Crimea missile defense and then will blitz the Crimean bridge, destroying Russia’s only ability to resupply the peninsula. The panic among Russian occupying citizens and vacationers will be palpable as the seek to flee back to Russia across the occupied land bridge by Mariupol entirely in the war zone.

Russia’s Black Sea fleet that has been decimated by a country without a Navy will not be able to support Crimea either. Over 1/3 of Russia’s navy has been destroyed by Ukraine including a Submarine!!!

They sent “slaves” to liberate free people. Russia soldiers fight for nothing, while Ukraine fight for freedom and democracy. Ukraine is the thin line on the fight of democracy against autocracy. We should all be invested in Ukraine’s defense. Should Ukraine fall, China will be emboldened to invade Taiwan. Russia will invade the Baltics, Poland. The is must not happen.

Western mainstream media puppets Putin’s nuclear rhetoric. While Putin’s useful idiots in congress (Gaetz, MTG, Boebert) sought to block funding US funding and lost. Putins bot farms and paid Russian shills on Twitter have been neutered by ground roots citizen groups such as NAFO.

Putin’s 3 day war has turned into a multi-year genocide campaign where he is forced to randomly attack Ukrainian civilian targets due to Russia’s failed kleptocracy being unable to develop or produce modern weaponry. Russia has kidnapped over 100,000 Ukrainian children in the temporarily occupied territory. It’s children’s minister Maria Lvova-Belova has been declared a war criminals This war will be the downfall of Putin and his brutal kleptocratic regime. The west must not waiver in its support of Ukraine.
