could someone please turn down the thermometer outside…
good morning there raven…holy cow it sounds like your Saturday was more productive than my whole July so far…
just kicking it for a while with the boys over the house…
thing’s are getting a little rough on my ego at the moment…turning 60 this week…
challenged the youngest (9 at the moment) to some foot races friday – man, it ain’t even close anymore…
met daughter’s boyfriend last week…she’s old enough now to legally drink…still…
kind of shook me up shaking hands with this big dude with braids and a beard…
he’s older by a handful of years – respectful and pleasant enough…he just looked so grown, it just sort of shook me up a bit…
like, leave my “little” girl alone…
other than that – the boys and I are just staying cool in the house and going out to play (park or pool) either in the mornings or evenings…
hopefully raven you can observe a day of rest and spoil yourself a bit today with a little indulgence…
it’s funny though how the definition of rest and relaxation can be so different for different folks…
Thanks, Geo. Probably the smartest unintentional thing I’ve done is just have one boy. I still want to grill the young lady (just a friend) he sometimes hangs out with. Parenthood is rapidly moving from exhausting to worrisome.
On basketball news, Kyrie Irving, who I don’t care about, got a triple double in the Drew League, which I don’t care about, for a coach who is only identified as “Rabbit.” That is all.

Anyone have any insight as to why Dolan was the lone governor to vote against the sale of the Hornets to Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin? Would be nice if he could be a little more normal.
Reading all the articles in the Athletic about summer league was depressing, since we had no one on our roster worth any words from a sports writer assessing summer league. The Knicks have managed to build a good team anyway without hitting on high draft picks, but it still feels like looking into the window of a candy store you can’t go into.
I’m sure it was a strategic move and not some emotional “go to hell” kind of thing…

Fun fact: I used to play basketball against Schnall in a league in Armonk, NY. We lost in the championship to his team. He was very good, and in unbelievable shape for his age…probably the 40yo equivalent of a high-level D3 undersized shooting guard.

I encourage all to watch Goliath, a new Showtime 3-part documentary on Wilt. It goes deeply into both the man and his times in a way that transcends the sport and adds depth to the myths and realities. Very well done and highly worth watching. One interesting aspect of the show is how they use silhouette puppetry to play out various vignettes as the narrator speaks.
I’m also watching The Bear, and an HBO documentary series entitled Last Call: When a Serial Killer Stalked Queer New York. Both are riveting.
