I think Kidd, Harrison and Cuban are the problem in Dallas. I’d even throw Doncic into the mix.

Harrison and Cuban made a lot of mistakes.

Kidd has been throwing sh$t at the wall all season. He uses different lineups and combinations almost every night. A lot of it doesn’t even make sense because they are so unbalanced. Matchups matter, but I think puts way too much emphasis on that one single thing over who the best players are, who fits together best, and letting players get used to playing with each other in defined roles. The season has really been a mess.

Doncic is still not in great shape, spends all game arguing with the refs instead of getting back on defense, and still doesn’t move the ball enough.

DAL would be smart to shut down Luka and Kyrie and go into the off season with a chance to get the pick into single digits. Ky’s going to LA and they are going nowhere even if they make the play in. NYK gotta hope the ping pong balls go a certain way. Maybe 11? Probably not. Do we have a pick if DAL does not convey?

This will be an interesting lottery because of all the protections. Dallas could jump into the top three or, if a team jumps them, their pick would go to us. Regardless, Cuban and Co. really messed that team up. They need a center who can play defense and younger 3&D wings, but this is not a great draft after the top 5 and free agency looks bleak. And if they lose Kyrie for nothing, holy shit…

The Mavs are one game behind OKC and they lost the tiebreaker, so it’s 2 games. It won’t be easy, but if Dallas wins in Atlanta and then against the Kings at home, OKC will be playing Suns at home and Warriors on the road. Suns are trying to defend the 4th spot and Warriors are trying to get to the 4th at the same time that they’re defending the 5th spot. I’d say there’s a good chance OKC might lose both games. To end the season Mavs will have Chicago and Spurs both at home, so probably 2 easy wins. I won’t give up on this pick just yet.

Do we have a pick if DAL does not convey?

No, we traded our own pick to Portland in the Josh Hart deal.

Worth it for Hart, I think.

Dallas is a cautionary tail for any team wanting “that one last piece”. Don’t do it if you really need more than that. Also, for anyone thinking of doing business with Kyrie. Success doesn’t follow him. Those winnable games from Cyber above don’t really seem so much so.

I don’t think Dallas can beat Chicago at this point unless Chicago has a fixed seed and benches all their players. For our sakes they need to win because they’re a half game behind the Bulls.

More basic questions. If it doesn’t convey in 23 what about 24? Is that second rounders?

We should just give it back to them as part of a deal for…wait for it…Luka!

I suppose you could commend Cuban for insisting on top-10 protections on this pick when he dealt for KP. Or you can criticize Mills/Perry for not bargaining harder and making it unprotected or top 4. In any case, I don’t think many of us thought that a team with a healthy Luka would be a bottom feeder, so it kind of falls into the category of “shit happens!” It sucks not having a pick at all this year, but given that we expected it to be well outside the lottery, and that this FO would likely trade out of it anyway, it is probably not a big deal.

I think the downside is that the FO did expect to have a pick this year even if they intended to trade it. They likely assumed the Dallas pick would convey when they traded away their own 1st in the Hart trade.

If you make a big splashy move it helps to give the other team a rookie their fan base can immediately start wish casting upon. Fans don’t want to wait.

At least if it does not convey this year, we won’t have to trade it for a less attractive pick down the road.

If I’m not mistaken, if the Dallas pick doesn’t convey this year means we can’t include our 2024 pick in any trade this off-season because we won’t have a pick in the draft. Probably not the biggest deal in the world but another reason to hope for Knicks to get the pick this year.

Betting on a team with one of the 10 best players in the league making at least the play in is pretty solid bet, Dallas has really shit the bed.

on the one hand, sucks to lose the pick – on the other hand, what a joy to watch the mavs fall apart…

I mean c’mon, every one but them knew it was a move with almost near certainty of flaming out…

Couldn’t agree more, Geo. I don’t think Isaiah would have made that trade.

Startlingly bad idea. Kyrie to the Lakers made perfect sense, soul-less mercs but with a strong vet culture and a rapidly closing window with huge talent in the frontcourt with crap-all in the backcourt. Duh. Kyrie to a team with poor chemistry and little support for a ball-dominant point guard then trading away what little support there was including any and all defense was mind-boggling.

Sort of why I want to see Kyrie bolt for the Lakers, yet hate the Lakers enough to hope it doesn’t happen for some reason.

First of all, the pick might not convey, i admit. Although i still think it will. But to say that if it doesn’t convey this year, then it never will, i don’t understand. Will a team with Luka be 3 consecutive seasons top10 in draft? I don’t think so.

If we don’t get the Dallas pick this year, then we can trade our 2024 pick as soon as the draft is over

Nicos, once the draft ends it doesn’t matter if you had a pick or not, you can trade your future picks every other year. We haven’t traded future picks, meaning that after the draft we can trade 4 own picks (2024, 2026, 2028 and 2030).

Remember guys, today’s game is a 6:00 PM start 🙂

    Beal is out.
    KP is out.
    Kuzma is out.
    Morris is out.

    Nice chance to clich right?

Will a team with Luka be 3 consecutive seasons top10 in draft? I don’t think so.

I mean, that’s why owning the pick with the protections was a relatively safe bet. You ask yourself: how bad would Dallas have to screw the pooch with Luka to end up in the lottery? And yeah we’re almost about to see the answer to that (lol), but that’s still a bet you take 10 out of 10 times.

Thankfully, our guys established themselves as a solid playoff team this year with legit youthful upside. Or else we’d hear the #lolKnicks “OMG THE KNICKS ONCE AGAIN TRAIDED THEIR FIRST ROUND PICKS LMFAO” cackling without any kind of context.

Starting to think “he won a title with Kyrie” is going to be looked at as one of Lebron’s greatest achievements

And btw, F the Lakers. They have no business being the 8-seed: they’ve benefited from some of the other teams that were ahead of them freefalling (like the damn Mavs and even the Jazz).

Even when they should be dead to fucking rights, they always get saved by the universe.

    RJ also out (illness)

Who will play for the Wizards then? 😀

Kudos to OAKAAK Svi Mykhailiuk for his career high 26 points…

VanVleet with 20-20 as the Raps look to stay in the top 8 in the east.

Starting to think “he won a title with Kyrie” is going to be looked at as one of Lebron’s greatest achievements

    .

From a personality management standpoint, absolutely. A shame, bc it’s easy to forget Kyrie is a top-10 player when he’s on point.

    “RJ also out (illness)”

A dream game. All Obi and Deuce, all the time.

It was Svi’s revenge game against his pre-Knicks team. I always wanted to see more of him.

Kai Jones remains in the league, for now.

I just read Charlotte’s boxscore and I think they must simply forfait their remaining games…

    Maledon, McGowen, Thor, Svi, Williams
    vs
FVV, Barnes, Siakam, OG and Poeltl?

    It’s unfair…

Not Knicks-related..but did anyone here watch Senga today? SHATT! His pitch placement and ball-movement was flat out filthy today. I wonder if he can make adjustments though, because I remember how rapidly teams caught up with Dice K back in the day. But for one game, Senga looked legit- albeit vs the Marlins.

Bad news for the Dallas pick,
Memphis melted and the Bulls won outscoring Ja & Co. 75-39 in the 2nd half…
Memphis lead by 23 in the 2nd qrt and lost by 21…

Kevin Knox lead the Blazers to a win against a full lineup Wolves. KAT took 3 shots in 25 minutes…
