The Knicks head to Detroit to take on the Detroit Pistons, who are one of the worst teams in the NBA, so the Knicks really need to get this win, especially as the Pistons are bringing Killian Hayes back tonight after his big hip injury, so they’re likely more looking to see how he feels more than anything else, so this is a big opportunity for the Knicks to get back to .500.
Let’s go get back to .500, Knicks!

Let’s Go Knicks!
Going to go out on a limb and say this would be the worst loss of the season
Obi Obi! Hope he gets some minutes based on what he did last game, maybe with some confidence he can start showing something.
Time for Restart!
Hey that’s my line! Don’t think anything could top the loss in Minnesota. Although I guess there is a difference between worst loss of the season and most devastating loss of the season. I’ve lost count on which line I’ve used the most this season.
Let’s go Knicks!!!
I’m gonna go optimist mode and predict we’ll get the worst Win of the season tonight!
Should have included the hat tip BBA, my apologies…
Randle is BACK!
Nice start
Maybe I am watching the whole Gonzaga game? That would be fine
Not bad!
You’re allowed to use my line, no apologies necessary! Great start so far but lord knows the Knicks love blowing double digit leads.
Has an NBA team ever gone a whole game without scoring from the field?
The Pistons have a shot
Eesh. This is a serious beatdown.
We’re destroying them
To think Z-Man thought the Knicks might lose tonight….
I predict we go up 30 in the first half and Randle and Barrett play 80 minutes
I was making dinner and missed the start of the game? Did I miss anything?
Even in a blowout start Payton manages to play awful.
THibs is a genius offensive coach.
Randle is fresh as a daisy.
If we are up by 30 at the end of the 3rd Randle should get 40 minutes anyway!
Woo Hoo!
Pistons playing the worst zone I’ve ever seen.
What did the team eat for their pre-game meal today?
Watching Payton shoot is my latest perversion
Don’t know, but maybe it’s better to keep on giving them the same meal from now on 😀
Yeah this may be the game RJ and J Randle play under 36 minutes.
Hard to believe there are two teams with worse records than the Pistons.
164-60 is my current projection of the final score of this game.
Apparently professional basketball players are quite efficient when nobody plays defense against them.
Randle going for 80 points.
Ok Randle and Bullock also hated losing to the Mavs and decided to take it out on the poor Pistons lol.
It’s a G-League team, but it’s still impressive. Hope they can get some rest but who are we kidding, at least Randle will have a shot at 50 playing 38 minutes.
Best scoring quarter of the year, Detroit sucks…
Say what you want about beating the snot out of the Pistons, dominating another team in their building is always a good thing.
Maybe Obi also can feast on these guys. That’d be nice.
The Pistons beat some really good teams and played Brooklyn hard every time, so there’s some argument to be made that they play above their weight. It’s impressive, no doubt, but lets see first if we keep this up.
Obi back to air balling 5 footers
Kenny says “in and out” on shots that only touch the rim. It’s odd.
Toppin is the first player I ever saw with two career layup airballs…
As long as we stay up by 20 something I’d like me some Knox and Frank…
Hope IQ will soon wake up from his prolonged shooting slump…
We have a player on our roster that won an NCAA Championship!? Could it be Noel with UK?
I think it’s stabilizing locker room presence Theo Pinson
I would argue that the Payton layup was worse than Obi’s.
Even in a game like this watching Payton shoot is like being forced to watch a snuff movie…
Oh, ok. The 2-way guys didn’t even come to my mind. 😀
We’re letting the lead slip away, as usual
That was a pretty awful 2nd quarter for the Knicks.
We scored 19 points in the second (and lose the quarter by 7)… just saying….
I’m sure I’ve seen it before, but I don’t recall seeing a beatdown where, like, just two guys on the winning team are even playing all that great. Randle and Bullock are just unreal tonight!
The teams i’m monitoring are IND, CHI and TOR. Yesterday IND and CHI lost, and TOR won, but they are the worst of the three. Today it’d be nice if IND loses at San Antonio. If we manage to be ahead of this 3 teams, we’ll be at least 8th, that’s my goal.
Randle has no points since that wonderful 1st quarter, i think
Yup. Also weird, Burks has zero points. It’s all Bullock.
Knicks defensive intensity has completely evaporated.
As we’re keeping the lead around 20, i think it’s going ok
Yeah, it’s hard to expect peak defensive intensity when you’re maintaining a 20 point lead against a shitty team late in the third.
And Randle came alive again 🙂
BBA demanded more defense and the lead ballooned to 27 😀
No Lead is safe
Not even Lead Guitar
I passed away hearing that Payton is the Magic all time leader in triple doubles…
LOL
Biggest question is with a 27 pt lead after 3 quarters how many minutes before Randle re-enters the game??
Randle can still break 40 minutes…
If we maintain the lead in the 20s, i wouldn’t put the starters back in
If Randle plays 40 minutes this game it’s truly a disgrace, honestly. I don’t complain much about Thibs rotations because this is what I expected, he wants to compete every game and he has done this everywhere he worked, but doing this in a game that was won in the first quarter is just plain stupidity.
Another nice move by Obi
Two straight games where Obi is showing signs of being an actual professional basketball player. (Although his defense is indeed dog-ugly.) Let’s hope he closes this one out.
This way Thibs won’t put the starters in, nice
Kevin in. Where’s Frank? 🙂
quik doesn’t care what the score is, he is coming hard for points…
as a sixth man that’s a perfect mentality…
yes, kevin knox gets some run…
Knox sighting! With 5 minutes to go!
Now put Knox in the corner and get Obi out of the corner and into the dunker spot.
Give me some Knox, Frank, Pelle, Obi and IQ please.
That’s what I’m talking about, Kevin!
It’s unfair putting our best team – the 2nd unit – against their scrubs 😀
Frank in
good to see rose and quik move the ball around…
I love blowout wins…it’s what’s good in life…
No need to commit such a foul at the end of a blowout game
How could Thibs play Norvel in the last minutes of a blowout??? Now see what happened…
Told you about Pelle 🙂
Pelle literally giving the finger to the Pistons!
Sweet like fine wine or a smooth cognac. Especially when the bench gets extended burn and even increases the lead.
Knox came off the bench ready to shoot. Toppin got extra burn. I’d like to think being productive in these minutes will leave those guys (and the whole team) with joy-joy feelings that’ll wash the bad taste of yesterday out.
Easy game, good reaction,
Randle set the tone with a fantastic first, but my player of the game is Bullock.
Silent efficient night for RJ, love Taj’s game.
Flashes from IQ and Toppin, 9 assists for Payton, Knox’s shot is still sweet…
2 blocks with a broken finger is something
That’s sure one way to endear yourself to Thibs.
My wife came into the room early in the first quarter when the score was really lopsided. “So the Knicks are good this year, huh?” she asked. “Well, the Knicks are a good-bad team, and the Pistons are a bad-bad team, so this matchup works in their favor,” I replied.
Even when we’ve beaten bad teams, we’ve rarely beaten up on them like this. It was nice to see, especially with the tough schedule ahead.
Juzang is intriguing
Great game. I don’t think Juzang will make it but great college player.
I like this Riley guy too.
Juzang is a cool customer…
I don’t watch that much NCAA ball…are there always this many time outs?
Jalen Suggs just did some amazing shit
He is a scorer
Drew Timme would absolutely destroy the Adriatic League.
Will be curious to see if he does anything in the NBA
Refs seem to be partial to UCLA
timme looks like he’s one of the players’ dad out there playing with his son…
wow, what a finish…
SUGGS!!!!!!!!
Lose every game from here on out if it increases our chances of getting Jalen Suggs by 1%
Well, that was better than the Knicks game.
What an incredible finish! Gonzaga-Baylor should be a great game, cant remember last time the Final 4 championship game featured the pre-season Top 2 teams in the nation.
Brutal way to lose for UCLA they played their asses off
And yes, I would take Suggs over 32 wins
that was kind of a lucky shot but suggs def should be #1… how do you take an all time best college team and roll through all the comp with kispert as your 2nd and timme as your third best player?
Can’t remember the last time I watched a college game that good. How was UCLA so bad in the regular season?
Well you don’t see that every day…
I was kinda bummed that it was making me miss The Ten Commandments but it’s all good…
Norvel Pelle averaging 15 points, 30 blocked shots, 45 rebounds, and 15 busted up fingers per 36.
Did I do that right?
DJ, Suggs is a great but you need to show a little respect to the rest of the Gonzaga team. Timme is an amazing college basketball big man. He may not end up being that good in the pros but he has great footwork and passing and is a very very good college player. Their whole team plays really well. It’s not just Suggs.
That might be the best college game since laetner hit his shot.
Suggs didn’t even have that great of a game but what an incredible shot. Love juzang for UCLA.
they were obviously pretty good already.. they ended last year #2…. but these guys are playing at an all-time best level and it’s not really because of kispert or timme or the rest of that roster…
they have the highest efficiency margin in ken pomeroy’s rankings at 38.13… the previous leader was the towns/booker/wcs/lyles kentucky team at 36.91…. last year they were at 26.95… if that wasn’t proof enough… suggs is putting up probably the best freshman #s for a pg since kyrie irving…
he’s not alone and yes there are others contributing… but this is simply not just another good gonzaga team… last year’s team was good… this year’s team is great… and it’s plainly because suggs has been playing out of his mind….
Suggs is a great prospect but he hasn’t been putting up really great stats. For the season averaged 14 ppg compared to 19 ppg each for Kispert and Timme. Its not necessarily because of usage either, Suggs slash line is 50/33/76 compared to Kispert who is 53/88/45 and even Ayayi is 56/79/85. Suggs does lead the team in assists but only at 4.5 while he does average 2 stls/g. Also leads the team by far in turnovers at 3 per game.
Again great prospect who seems worthy of the hype but he’s been arguably their 3rd best player and that’s not even taking into consideration Ayayi who’s been almost as good as Suggs.
Is that distributed for all his 10 fingers, or it’s always the same one putting the bones back in place afterwards? LOL
I had Ayayi for our DET 2nd RP, to be 3rd stringer PG behind the starter (1st RP? FA?) and DRose. That would keep our quota of french players. LOL
But with the Zags on the NCAA Championship Game, i think he might not be there for our pick.
I get the hype on Gonzaga, but I doubt they are among the top few greatest college teams ever. College teams used to be made up of future high level NBA players that were older in college. They were way further along in their development than current teams. Kareem started his NBA career at 22. So did Bill Walton. There were some “great” college teams.
Not to be all Get Off My Lawn, but the 82 Tar Heels had James Worthy, Sam Perkins, and some skinny kid named Jordan. And that’s just off the top of my head. I’m sure there are better.
Maybe it would be a nice use of the remaining roster spot, but if the Knicks FO agreed they’d claim him from waivers (he makes only 2.28M) thus preventing losing him to a contender.
Timme and Kispert and Ayayi are all elite upperclassmen. You don’t see that very much in college and makes for an unusual amount of talent. While Suggs is unquestionably the best prospect I don’t think it’s clear he is the best player on the team.
Timme in particular seems to have a terrific feel both for passing and for moving without the ball, the kind of skills which probably won’t translate but that make him very effective in college.
I will say, Suggs’ defense was very solid. There is a lot to like and he seems like the no doubt #1 to me.
Apropos of nothing, but I am glad to see Okongwu has come on late in season. Numbers now looking more like I thought they would.
Phi Slama Jama- Hakeem, Clyde Drexler, Michael Young, Cadillac Anderson, and several others had professional careers.
Suggs reminds me a little of Brandon Roy, who without all the injuries would have been an all time great.
LSU had Shaq AND player-of-the-year Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf. On paper, that is one of the best inside out combos to ever play college ball together… and yet they somehow managed to kind of suck.
Don’t know if Juzang wound up playing himself into the lottery or if he’s even planning to come out this year… but if he were available at ~15/16 & the Knicks selected him*, I, for one, wouldn’t squawk. He already looks to be a more versatile scorer than anyone currently on this offensively woebegone roster.
* He was at Kentucky for a year before transferring to UCLA so he’s likely on the FO’s radar
We won by 44 points on the road. That’s not nothing.
it is rare these days but in gonzaga it’s pretty common… that’s how they’ve been perennially highly seeded.. timme and kispert are just the latest iterations of killian tillie… brandon clarke.. rui hachimura… kyle wiltjer… karnowski… kelly olynyk… in fact they are probably slightly inferior versions of all these guys… mark few is just building these guys in a factory or something….
what has changed is that suggs was the biggest recruit they’ve ever gotten and is leaps and bounds ahead of any pg in the program (stockton aside)….
and yes there are better college teams if you matchup these guys side by side… but the way they are rolling through the comp .. and it hasn’t been an easy schedule… it’s unlike what we’ve seen since the KAT kentucky team… and is sort of like the tarkanian rebel teams ….. and much like those teams had superb supporting casts…. they had a singular dominating force pushing that team to new heights…
