Wow. So is Kadeem Allen “we’ve found a diamond-in-rough” good or Earl Barron “I can put up a double-double in a string of 20 meaningless games” good?

Sorry guys, no recap today. Rough March.

    @1

Kadeem is “end of rotation” good, and at the same time “much better than Mudiay” good. That says a lot about Mudiay *and* the weird fixation that coach/management has with him.

Kadeem is heady and hard-nosed, with decent size. He apparently took off like 30 lbs and fixed some issues with his shot. Hard to tell if it’s for real but he’s earned a good look. Prob a decent low-cost end of rotation backup if you value toughness and smarts.

Idk maybe Kadeem could be a Dinwiddie: an almost starter/very good back up pg that figured things out later.

first time in a while that I’ve watched a college basketball game from start to finish…it’s really hard though to take your eyes off zion when he’s out there playing…

it’s just so freaky, he looks like the rhino – but, has has the instincts and movement of spiderman…his touch is so deft for such a large human being…I can’t wait to see him play against NBA talent and physicality…14% ain’t much of a chance, but, god I hope we land that top spot for the draft…

I figure it might take a little deal making with the man upstairs to make that happen though – I promise to give up chocolate for a month and weed for day if the good lord can see his way to helping us out on this one…

I know he won’t do it, but, reddish really needs to go back to duke for another season, he’s just not ready…

hope things smooth out for you soon farfa…

Allen is a 26 year old backup at best.

    1. We already have a few backup PGs
    2. Don’t give up on young players with some talent too soon

Videos are leaking of Dirk working on some nifty moves with KP in practice.

That’s a big improvement over Melo teaching him to take off balance long 2s against the double team with plenty of time on the clock. That alone should be worth a couple of ticks in his TS%.

It will be interesting to see if Carlisle can straighten out his shot selection and use him correctly.

I have mixed feelings about Zion. On the one hand the hype will be so insane he’ll make a fortune. On the other hand I hate to see a potentially great player have his career stifled playing for Dolan, Mills, Perry, and Fizdale.

Dirk can show KP all the moves in the world, he has to not be injured, and not too tired to use them. KP is an impact player when he can stay on the floor and not be tired while he’s out there. He hasn’t been able to do it past December.

Knick fan not in NJ who thinks our rookies will lead us to a lousy lottery pick in 2019says:

I watched the first half of the game yesterday. I was unimpressed by Jenkins. Does anyone think he uscworth keeping around?

If we had finished with the worst record any other year a 25% shot at Zion is something we would all be ridin high about. So knicksy.

Its Morant and then Barrett at 2,3? Is that the consensus?

The NY Lottery used to have a slogan “Where no one has a better chance than you” which I always thought was brilliant. It made people think “some schlub is gonna win $100 million, why shouldn’t it be me?”

In the upcoming NBA draft lottery, no team will have a better chance than the Knicks of getting the #1 pick. Yet somehow it feels like we have no chance. As Silver opens the last 5 envelopes, it just seems inevitable that the Knicks will be called out before he gets to the last one.

I guess I just suffer from Knicks fan PTSD, where things always turn out worse than expected (at least since 1985)

    @12

The injuries and stamina are both a question mark. Maybe both will be mitigated if got stronger while out.

Early in his career I read a scouting report that said the Knicks were playing him way too many minutes. Essentially it said they were wearing him down, ruining him, and making injuries more likely because he was too light and weak for that load at that stage. Maybe there was something too that. We’ll see.

Barrett is kind of hard to feel comfortable with as a fallback plan. Every time I watch him I can’t believe he came into the year as the #1 prospect. His numbers have come off a lot as well since midseason. Ja seems a solid #2 though.

i think the lottery will be too painful to watch. in most years or if you’re brian silver lining cronin you can feel pretty good about landing 2nd or 3rd even with the worst record. but we are going to have to survive four straight bullets for this to be true win. the drop off is just so steep. plus i can’t seem to get myself excited about rj and if we’re 2 my guess based on our front office preferences is he’s the guy. the idea of surviving the 5, 4 and 3 only to get barrett hurts already.

If we fall outside of top three, should we trade down to the end of the lottery and grab another first?

plus i can’t seem to get myself excited about rj and if we’re 2 my guess based on our front office preferences is he’s the guy.

I understand that this is an awful opinion from a value perspective…but for this reason I might prefer having the 3rd pick to the 2nd.

Fun fact: our 6’9″ rookie played 25 minutes last night and grabbed a total of zero rebounds.

That takes a very particular set of skills.

@20 i’ve had the same thought. after a few days of post zion depression, i think i could at least get pumped about morant.

So my whinging about few good pizza places in Portland inspired me to give it a go. 24-48 hour fermentation from Elements of Pizza. Buffalo mozzarella and San Marzano-style half-pureed tomatoes with a little bit of salt in it.

My wife suggested that I try to learn dough-making before I commit to another single-purpose item in our kitchen (i.e. a baking steel), so, as an experiment, I used the backside of a 500-degree cast iron pan, which was okay but not great. For the first pie, at least. On the second, I corrected the dough thickness (I was going for Neapolitan-style but underestimated how much the dough would rise) and widened it to nearly the width of the pan. When I peeled it onto the pan, it was fine… for a few seconds, and then slid off, half-wedged onto the baking rack and half onto the baking sheet I had placed underneath in the event of such a catastrophe. After filling my downstairs with smoke, I folded it over and ended up with a bastardized calzone.

I have to say that successfully creating chewy, airy pizza dough was one of the more gratifying experiences I’ve had in the kitchen.

Morant would be fine with me if we ended at #2 or #3. I don’t see Zion as anything less than a perennial All-NBAer, but Morant looks as good a prospect as there is, otherwise. And seeing how stagnant the offense looked with Mitch and Jordan hovering around the ball-handler last night, I am fully out on Clarke. He just can’t coexist with Mitch, and Mitch should be playing until he fouls out every night.

I have to say that successfully creating chewy, airy pizza dough was one of the more gratifying experiences I’ve had in the kitchen.

Thank you. Finally back on track after all that Giants talk.

I watched the first half of the game yesterday. I was unimpressed by Jenkins. Does anyone think he uscworth keeping around?

No, not really. I think he’s likely contract ballast for a future deal.

I believe he announced it and the final game of the season is Phoenix and the tickets are priced like a playoff game. Wouldn’t be surprised if he came back as an assistant next year though. Not sure if he’s burnt out on the travel or just too old to play reasonably well, though.

based on advanced stat numbers, Hunter looks a lot better than Barrett

R.J. BARRETT CAM REDDISH DE’ANDRE HUNTER KELDON JOHNSON
    USG% 32.5 26.3 24.2 22.5

Maybe Dirk can cure KP’s anemia/low energy problem that hits after 20 games every year. Otherwise it will be the same old story…. Your best ability is your availability.

Zion just wrecks out there. The drop off between him and whoever goes second is just enormous.
It’s like they cloned Charles Barkley and LeBron and made a new level of player.

Dirk has made mixed comments, like “you’re all deciding I’m retiring before I do”, stuff like this, but he just can’t move on the court anymore. Maybe he sticks around for one more year as a mentor and that’s that.

The problem with the plan of moving down in the draft if we don’t get a top 3 pick is that all the other teams can see that this is likely a garbage draft outside of the top 2 or 3. Is anyone really giving up meaningful assets to move from 10th to 4th to pick Reddish, Langford or Culver? Why do that when you can pick any of the available equally non-inspiring wings that are literally everywhere in this draft, Hunter, Little, Porter Jr, Johnson, Alexander-Walker, etc? Unless a team really loves one of those guys for a completely random reason, nobody is giving up meaningful assets for anyone not named Zion, Ja or RJ.

I refuse to believe that Zion Williamson won’t be a Knick, but I’m trying my best to prepare for a situation where Dallas picks first and ends up with Zion, Doncic, Brunson, and Porzingis.

Zion Williamson will be a Knick, though. For sure. 100% guaranteed. Start believing it, people.

Zion Williamson will be a Knick, though. For sure. 100% guaranteed. Start believing it, people

This violates all the norms of civilized society

If Zion becomes a Knick, the only way that the universe could reach equilibrium is if Dolan immediately selected a new jersey design whose hideousness rivaled that of the current Hawks’ jerseys , the Agent Zero-era Wizards jerseys, or whatever the fuck like half the league was doing between 1995 and 2000.

It’s the only way we could be justly punished for being gifted Zion after 20 years of putrid management.

Although some dude on Twitter told me that EY will conspire to take Zion away from the small-market teams, but he also told me, upon further prompting about tinfoil hats fashion, that jet fuel can’t melt steel beams…

I’m not sure if it was more than bone spurs with his ankle that dirk had surgery on last year, but, I remember the first time I saw him play this season he was limping badly out on the court…

last time I saw him play he was moving much better…

I imagine it will be up to him if he wants to play next year…he can still shoot, and, he’s still tall…

I believe he announced it and the final game of the season is Phoenix and the tickets are priced like a playoff game. Wouldn’t be surprised if he came back as an assistant next year though. Not sure if he’s burnt out on the travel or just too old to play reasonably well, though.

I don’t think he has officially announced it. It’s weird. Everyone is just assuming that it is his final season and don’t get me wrong, it makes a ton of sense, because he’s 40 and can’t move out there, but if the Mavericks sign a good free agent and get a top five pick and get KP back healthy, if you could still play even a little bit, wouldn’t you want to be on that bench as an active player for at least one more season?

If we fall outside of top three, should we trade down to the end of the lottery and grab another first?

Ima say yes, that would be a good idea.

this draft is not all that deep…. someone like ponds and coby white are gonna be steals for someone… but everyone else outside the top 6 or 7 or so are gonna have a tough time succeeding…

we are actually in a decent spot.. we just gotta make sure we dont draft the landmine like weve done the last cpl yrs…

I use my baking steel for baking more than just pizza they’re pretty useful tools

we are actually in a decent spot.. we just gotta make sure we dont draft the landmine like weve done the last cpl yrs…

Come to the Cronin optimistic side of the tracks regarding the lottery! A top five pick is still a top five pick! They have had one of them in thirty years!

Come to the Cronin optimistic side of the tracks regarding the lottery! A top five pick is still a top five pick! They have had one of them in thirty years!

That’s only because we traded 2 of them under IT. Also, haven’t we had 2? KP was picked 4th and I thought Gallo was 5th.

Gallo was #6. I wonder if #5 was anyone good that year? Oh, right, Kevin Love. Dolan’s fuckin’ Razor.

Also, not to defend IT, as he was the worst, but he “only” gave up one top five pick (the #2 pick, which was used on LaMarcus Aldridge). Noah was drafted #9 and Hayward was drafted #9. It is pretty hilarious how all three of the IT Top 10 traded picks turned out well…for other teams, of course.

it’s just so freaky, he looks like the rhino – but, has has the instincts and movement of spiderman…

Which makes him more like Venom, an advanced version of Spiderman whose one weakness are high sonic vibrations.

the Agent Zero-era Wizards jerseys, or whatever the fuck like half the league was doing between 1995 and 2000.

Dude, remember the Grizzlies jerseys of that era? Fucking brutal.

What else, DRed? I would guess bread, but anything other than that?

I stand corrected. Really surprised Noah went 9th overall, I would’ve bet anything he went top 5. Also, if I remember correctly, the guy that Walsh really liked the year we drafted Gallo was Westbrook.

The obvious stuff like breads, biscuits, pita, but it’s helpful for anything you want to roast. Get the oven and the steel hot and put a sheet pan of vegetables on it, or a spatchcocked chicken, that sort of thing. It helps get the pan hot and browning faster

I don’t know who the tall guy is for Florida State but he is tall…

    Interested in this baking steel.

Oh shit, that’s brilliant. I didn’t even think of it as a conductor for another conductor.

Anyone see that Mike Dunleavy, Sr. led the Tulane basketball team to a 4-27 season with 0-18 in AAC (not ACC) play? Like, barring the possibility that Tulane plays very ethically (i.e. uncompetitively) during recruitment, how bad do you have to be at player evaluation to put together a 4-27 team in your third year as the manager of the basketball program?

Owen, I think the idea is that it transfers heat much more efficiently than ceramic/stone, which is important for getting your yeasty dough to rise and create those air pockets that make pizza so delicious. Plus the char, which my pizza definitely lacked around the edges.

I think it might be time for me to try boiling bagels…

Crazy that Duke is ranked 338th of 353 D1 teams in 3P%. And even crazier that Zion’s outside shooting is a major point of criticism from the talking heads — yet is shooting about as well as Reddish, and better than Barrett.

Barrett will have a terrible career if he’s a 30% shooter in the NBA. Jury’s out, but it’s not looking good right now.

Suns are up 4 with 7 to go right now. If they win this one, the #1 lottery slot is a lock.

    I wouldn’t draft Reddish.

Duke’s shooting is really really awful. But they dunk well….

I may be too lazy to try making NYC pizza on my own, but kudos to you Jowles.

I think I actually had one of those inaugural Grizzles jerseys. Don’t judge me; I was 18 when they began league play and was amped on the league having two new teams (remember that the mid-90’s was like the height of the jersey-wearing trend, at least in NYC. Especially hockey jerseys: I copped a Colorado Avalanche and that Rangers alternate (the navy blue one wit the statue of liberty head)).

Playing DD tonight. Watching the Duke game while they listen to the band. Just at some shitty bowling alley. Been nice to see a whole game with Zion in it.

Suns win. Knicks lock up the worst record.

That means we get a 25% chance at Zion and a guaranteed Top 4 pick. Oh no wait, that was every other year.

The end of this Suns vs Pelicans game was the stupidest stuff I’ve seen in a long while in a basketball court, what an insane mess.
