  • [NYDN] Knicks squander shot against Towns-less Timberwolves
    (Sunday, March 10, 2019 8:20:00 PM)

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Timberwolves got virtually nothing from their top three scorers on Sunday night. Thanks to their depth, it wasn’t a problem.

Taj Gibson scored a season-high 25 points, Jeff Teague added 20 points and 10 assists, and the Timberwolves beat the New York Knicks 103-92 despite…

  • [NYPost] Sloppy Knicks don’t learn lesson as slide continues
    (Sunday, March 10, 2019 6:35:28 PM)

MINNEAPOLIS — The Timberwolves were without their two young stars Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins — which gave the Knicks a golden opportunity to snap a five-game losing streak Sunday. But as owner James Dolan has said previously, the Knicks have no stars and were pummeled anyway in a sloppy 103-92 decision at Target Center,…

  • [NYPost] Frank Ntilikina’s eventual return gets clearer — and more daunting
    (Sunday, March 10, 2019 4:50:04 PM)

MINNEAPOLIS — The Knicks ruled out second-year guard Frank Ntilikina for their three-game road trip, a trek that started with a 103-92 loss to the Timberwolves on Sunday night. That means the earliest he will return will be next Sunday’s home game versus the Lakers. After evaluating him Saturday, the Knicks announced he would start…

  • [NYPost] James Dolan can do a lot more damage than petty fan threats
    (Sunday, March 10, 2019 11:07:46 AM)

A Garden spokesman would not elaborate on whether Saturday’s latest heckler of owner James Dolan would be banned from the Garden — a la Charles Oakley and Mike Hamersky. You remember Hamersky? In April 2017, the lawyer from Queens screamed at Dolan outside the Garden to sell the Knicks. Dolan cursed him out, security got…

    Re: DSJ

He’s bad on both sides despite the occasional eye catching play.

I am still bullish on DSJ — he’s extremely inconsistent both in terms of results and off-ball effort, but you see not just eye-catching plays but entire games where he really puts it together. That game against San Antonio a couple weeks ago was legit one of the best Knick PG games in many years – 19/13 with 0 turnovers is not a fluke (in fact there have only been 55 such games in the last 10 seasons). what’s more is that there have only been TWO such games in NBA history by a player younger than 22 – DSJ and Chris Paul.

(side note – just a little less than a year ago Lebron put up a 35 and 17 game with zero turnovers — what a freaking monster)

Didn’t get to watch much of the game yesterday but holy hell that block by Mitch on Bates-Diop – I mean, the athleticism and the awareness to come off his man on that basket cut. I mean Enes Kanter (or for that matter any Knicks center since Tyson) wouldn’t even have been facing the correct direction!

and so that brings us to langford… the reason why bpm probably doesn’t like him is that he’s 70% at the line and a third of his shots come from 3p land and he doesn’t make any of them…. but what makes him a great prospect is that he has a pretty wide skillset…. scores well in 2p territory.. with good volume… grabs boards with ok def stats… and passes the ball well… that’s pretty much the basis for a strong nba player…. and the parts where you need to focus on….

Good news: Langford is one of 9 freshman guards since 2009 to post a 53% 2PT% on 8+ 2PA

Bad news: the other eight are Zeek Woodley, Terry Taylor, Alec Burks, Marcus Evans, Dimencio Vaughn, Josh Jackson, Jahad Thomas, and Jaylen Franklin

Seriously though, you make a good point and there are certainly worse outcomes in this draft than Langford. I still think it would be disappointing to draft a guy you have to hope turns into a shooter and defender after being the worst team in the NBA, though.

P.J. Washington seems a bit slept on compared to the hype most UK guys get.

Been away for a few days. Thanks for posting this block, Frank. Ridiculous.
