I guess this is why Frank is playing tonight:
From the earlier thread, if the Knicks trade for Wall I think I’ll start watching more Nets games. It’s proximity – I can easily see them without league pass and tickets are Barclay’s are cheaper. Trading Frank would be a bad sign and I’d probably check out for the season but I don’t know that I’d hang it up.
@1 I thought we’re playing the Nets tonight?
So I guess tomorrow is Vive Le France night, whereby Frank will change his name to Franc and surrender after 1 quarter.
Yeah, Hornets game is tomorrow.
Those two would be important losses for the tank, the Nets play hard but they’re probbaly exhausted from last night’s game, so I’d say it’s very unlikely.
I’m never giving up on the piece of shit franchise. 🙂 Maybe one day they’ll give me another good season in exchange for that loyalty. Maaaaybe.
That’s why them pulling out the win last night was so important.
Own goal
Enes Kanter is truly my least favorite player on the team.
What is it about home-team announcers that makes them totally blind to the facts on the court? Kanter got hacked by Allen and the Nets color team were confused.
“I think Kanter just kicked Allen and fell.”
I enjoy the Enes Experience. I’m at the point where I’m actively rooting for Hezonja to miss every shot he takes so they finally stop fucking playing him.
Depressing thought: the Nets didn’t have a first round pick for like 5 straight years and they might have a better young core than us.
Alan Shearer looking good. Maybe he could play point?
He could definitely kick two out of bounds like Mudiay has
Knox has brought his A game today.
These guys stink!
When did Shearer become so powerfully bald?
Mr. Shearer has aged like fine wine, really.
Lol
Knox is awful at basketball but his demeanor is all star level. He betrays no awareness of how terrible he is.
Don’t think we are winning this. Nets have some players, including my long time sidepiece Ed Davis….
Knox playing like hot garbage right now
Somewhere David Berri is watching this defensive rebounding and saying I told you so…
Knox looks like has no idea how to play basketball. And most of the time Mitch doesn’t either. The difference is Mitch makes up for it with athleticism and defensive intensity.
I still can’t think of one good thing to say about Knox.
Knox apparently is one hell of a 3 on 3 player. That’s one good thing!
We still don’t appear to be running an offense.
Trier heard and obeys.
It’s nice to have a few guys who can score in the open court.
ready for full rockets panic after losing to the Mavs tonight
There is simply no out-tanking Chicago.
Enes has superpowers within 3 feet of the hoop.
Big win for Mavs
At the time of this post, the Chicago Bulls are down 17-0 to Boston halfway through the 1st quarter.
I wasn’t wrong
Didn’t we used to say these guys are fun to watch?
Not so much anymore
Put Frank in. Or Ron. Just do something different.
To be fair they had an overtime game yesterday. Back to backs are tough enough.
Oh, wait, that was the Nets.
I must say I’m not confident about the Knicks’ offense when KP gets back:
*Mudiay brings the ball up court.*
*Mudiay swings the ball to TH2*
*TH2 dumps the ball down to KP*
*KP settles for 17 foot jumper*
Hardaway…
Good lord
I can’t decide if I dislike Mudiay or Hezonja more. It’s a really hard decision.
Games like this make me think Fiz is a uncreative coach… he’s got a hot hezonja for the first time in his season and he doesn’t focus on feeding him…
I think I’m honestly disliking Timmy more than anyone. Outside of Fizdale or some other lunatics we all know that Mudiay and Hezonja suck, it’s expected from them, we’re not paying 18 million per year (yet) for them to suck. On nights where he’s shooting terribly like this Hardaway is literally unplayable because he does absolutely nothing other than shoot. He’s fucking Jamal Crawford 2.0.
@31 they were fun when they were starting Robinson, Dotson and Frank IIRC. Watching 50 odd minutes of Mudiay and Hezonja, not so much
Hardaway is who we thought he was. The idea that he’s not that badly overpaid because he could be a good third scorer or whatever is ridiculous—who the hell pays for a “third scorer” before they have their first and second?
Yeah, THJ is the guy I get the most frustrated with. Streaky, prone to dumb 4th quarter turnovers, etc. Lousy defender.
@38
I’m
A
Loon!!
Yes I agree, hardaway is the worst. If he were halfway decent he would’ve known to get the ball to lame and streaky hezonja early on but he has to get hot
KP or Jarret Allen?
I’m so pissed I turned off the Mavericks game to watch this garbage right before Doncic went and destroyed the Rockets.
well at least the Cavs are going to win
I still think it’s impossible to believe not one single team would be interested in trading for Kanter. There has to be a market for a guy who’s this effective on offense.
Kanter tonight is kind of like how I imagine some 1964 Wilt game with the Warriors losing by 30
hello frank
Time to release Frank apparently
Oh, our lottery pick from last year. Look at that.
Mudiay and hardaway and kanter sit and the defense suddenly comes alive go figure fizdale,
You boring old man
No doubt who the Garden wants to watch
This was the team that was fun to watch.
Frank threw that terrible lob just to let Mitch be great. so selfless.
That was an insane finish by Robinson, very generous to give Frank an assist for that
Cavs are blowing away the Wizards and the Lakers likewise the Grizzlies. The NBA is topsy turvy this year, except for the Knicks.
Not a great oop from Frank, but it was an actual pass to our young center who then scored.
If the Nets sign Russell over Dinwiddie, they would show themselves worthy of being the front office of the Knicks.
Dinwiddie is apparently the most unstoppable player in the nba
He really toyed with Mitch there twice
Keep the kids out there until they’re exhausted
That was terrific from Knox
Trier can’t handle Dinwiddie, but I’m glad Fiz is keeping them all out there.
Knox may have one NBA skill: he’s good in the open floor.
Allonzo Trier is such a crafty ball handler.
Yeah, keep the kids in there!
Second nice transition bucket from Knox. That probably is one thing we can admit he does well, or at least shows legit promise to do…
game got fun
Can we please just play these 5 guys the rest of the season?
@68
Co-sign
You can see the young kids’ athleticism bothers teams.
And they play defense
If these 5 play all 48 mins of every game for the rest of the season I’d sign Fiz to a lifetime contract.
Youth!
This is where Robinson needs to think
Yep, keep this lineup out there till Mitch fouls out…
Man, Garden loves it. Fizdale will hopefully feel bullied into playing then more
I was sure Frank was going to throw it up for MRob. Nice floater.
Beautiful D!
Frank!!!
I’m sorry, but I’m thrilled for Frank.
Ooohh, Dotson, so close!
No more Mario
No more Mudiay
No more Kanter.
Can we sit Frank again, we might actually win this game.
Man if Dotson reverse he gone in…
Man, on back to back possessions Knox was WIDE OPEN for 3 but Dotson and Frank both missed him and took their shots instead and missed.
I’ve been rooting for the comeback win but this could an ideal night with the Hawks and Cavs wining and an L to the Nets with good vibes
from the kiddies
@79
Add Timmy to that list.
Dinwiddie isn’t even in, don’t worry about us accidentally winning this game
Absolutely.
No more THJ
39% shooting from your highest usage guy…wtf
Robinson in the time honored tradition of great athletes, walks like his legs are broken.
Who remembers Mickey Rivers?
Another 24 sec. love the energy on D
Mick the quick!!
I’m still excited about Mitch but I’m worried that his hands will be a big limiting factor on offense
I don’t care if we win. I could watch these kids all day
Mitch needs to go to the Deandre Jordan school for big man free throw shooting
Can we at least make these 5 the “2nd unit” and commit to play them 20 mins. per game?
Mitch can get so much stronger too, look at his frame. His upper body is so wide.
@85 that, and the missed free throws.
Is there anyone on this board that does not prefer these five to the starters?
Yeah, this should be the starting lineup. Play Vonleh, Kanter and THJ a lot of minutes too, of course, but fucking Hezonja and Mudiay can sit until the end of the season for all I care. Or start the old scrubs and switch to this lineup playing 25+ minutes each at least.
@96
I can’t imagine so. More fun to watch, and a nice little comeback. It’s almost like performance counts on both sides of the ball.
Also, hey, they are all with the team next year. What a crazy thing…
The Hawks and the Cavs also won, so only the Bulls, who also won last night, lost today. A top 3 lottery position is still realistic.
I do like Vonleh even if he’s not signed. I’d like him back. If KOQ was cheap, he’ll be cheap.
And you have to play Timmy, because he’ll be here, and Kanter, because you can deal with his awfulness on D in 20 minutes off the bench. But that’s it.
Ok, Lee until you trade him.
I’m mostly indifferent about hez and mudiay. Mudiay aeast moves the pace.
-Strange how kanter dominates the box score and get no court time down the stretch .
– frank hit a few big shots, fizde continurs to work his play sitting guys and they respond well.
–
Now this is a feel good loss…
How about THJ next in the dungeon for at least 3 games? He’s shooting under 40% for the year.
He’s an ideal frontcourt partner with KP and probably won’t be looking for a playoff team at his age. Him and Trier are the only guys we should prioritize signing IMO.
That was strangely satisfying. I’d sign up for more of watching the 4 Knicks I hate get blown out and then letting the 5 kids try to come back in the 4th.
Strange how Frank came in and it suddenly felt like a real game.
Play.
The.
Kids.
That’s all this season should be about. Tim, too. Maybe Lee to get up his trade value. And Vonleh. The rest can go now.
Are the Bulls still an NBA team? God damn.
It’s kinda bizarre how the rosters of both the Bulls and the Knicks are pretty much the same structurally. The 7 foot euro who we all like but who might secretly not be the superstar everyone thought, the overpaid chucking SG who can’t play defense and is just young enough for people to still believe he can turn out to be something, a very promising rookie center who’s an impact defender… and then a bunch of assorted young dudes, bad old dudes and reclamation project dudes.
Lauri and LaVine are younger than our dudes, but it’s pretty eerily similar (and equally as bad I guess)
To be fair, only the Thunder thought this. That’s why they’re still paying Melo.
The tank job in Chicago is disgraceful and Silver needs to step in. Silver needs to form an anti-tank committee to evaluate situations like this and heavily discipline teams who get caught. Chicago gave up 92 points in a half at home, and then lost by 56 points in their own building to Boston? Lauri Markannen and Wendell Carter Jr played under 20 minutes a piece, so it’s not like they’re even trying to develop young talent. Teams who throw games to improve their lottery odds should be disqualified from the lottery that season and should not pick before #10. As far as I’m concerned, Chicago should be picking 14th. It’s not okay that teams like us get punished for trying to compete and develop talent when organizations just decide to roll over and burn entire seasons for multiple high draft picks.
This was a classic tank trap game – home against a bad opponent coming off a draining win the night before.
Thankfully Fiz saw it coming and negotiated it expertly, leaning on the veteran experience in the team to build a solid deficit, and letting it run out just far enough to make it too much for our young guys to claw it back in a fun final 15. Top marks.
I mostly agree, but I’m curious what mechanisms the league has to enforce not tanking beyond the strong recommendation that they change the front office.
Yeah, that was a big time loss.
Man, watching Doncic eat the souls of the Rockets…the Hawks are just so, so dumb. The Kings aren’t too bright themselves for taking Bagley, but at least he’s a legitimately good prospect. Choosing Trae Young and a pick over Luka was just such a laughably dumb move.
Doncic’s troll face is going to be a top three NBA meme by mid 2019
Oh man, right? That was sick.
