2016-17 Game Thread: Knicks @ Timberwolves

The Knicks travel to Minnesota to take on the Timberwolves in the first game of a home and home with Minnesota. The two games are spread over three games, making the whole thing just really weird. What’s the point? NBA schedules are weird. Like Oklahoma City playing at home, then traveling to New York City for one game before returning right back home. Who schedules like that?

Anyhow, the Timberwolves have an awful record and they are in a major funk, but this is obviously a talented team, especially their big men, Dieng and reigning Rookie of the Year Karl-Anthony Towns, who is awesome and yet has taken a major back seat to Andrew freakin’ Wiggins in the Timberwolves offense for no good reason that I can think of.

Joakim Noah is out tonight, which might actually be a good thing for this team. Kyle O’Quinn will get the start.

Let’s go, Knicks!

Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder come to town tonight.

Remember, the Knicks beat the Thunder last year with roughly this same roster (Westbrook there but no Durant) despite Westbrook having a crazy game, so the Knicks should have a very good chance of winning the game tonight. They should be favorites in this game (I believe they are, gambling-wise).

  • 2016-17 Game Thread: Knicks @ Hornets

It is very difficult for teams to win both ends of a back-to-back/home and home series (provided their opponent isn’t actively tanking – and even there, you’d be surprised at how difficult it is to even beat a tanking team twice in two days), so if the Knicks lose tonight, that won’t really tell us much either way about this team.

But if they win, then hoo boy, that would be amazing and that would say a lot about this team.

So, well, let’s hope that they win. 🙂

    (Saturday, November 26, 2016 12:33:45 AM)

Joakim Noah was hunched over at midcourt at halftime, looking gassed after missing the previous two games with an illness. “I was just tired, man,” he said. “It’s tough when, man, when you’re sick and then you have to go and play a basketball game after it — it’s no joke.”

  • 2016-17 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Hornets

Pulling this completely out of my ass, but I would think that it would have to be beneficial to be the home team in the first game of a home and home series. Doesn’t that just seem like it makes sense? You have the better chance of winning the first game and then you’re playing with a game in hand for the next game. So I think it is a good thing that the Knicks start tonight’s home and home at MSG.

Home and homes are weird, by the way. I don’t get the purpose of them. It’s not like the Knicks play the Hornets a lot, why burn through two of the games right away?

Anyhow, the Knicks host the Hornets tonight. They will get Joakim Noah back tonight, so it will be interesting to see how they work him into a rotation that looked pretty darn good with Porzingis at the 5 and Melo at the 4 for most of the game. Hopefully he works in well. I really like Noah a lot, and I’d hate for him to be in a weird situation where the team looks better without him. So hopefully they win tonight and he gets 53 rebounds and 17 blocked shots.

    Let’s go, Knicks!
