As a 3rd SG, Rn Baker > Sasha Vujevic, even with his veteran experience with the triangle and foreign players. I hope Phil lets him go in favor of Chasson Randle.

As excited as I am about Ron Baker, I realize that Derrick “Season-ending Minor Knee Surgery” Rose and Brandon “It’s Just an Achilles Tear” Jennings are our point guards.

But I am also excited that Rose and Jennings are our point guards, which means that Ron Baker will later become our point guard.

Ignoring the petulance, Ron Baker just doesn’t seem to have the ball-handling skill of a PG at the NBA level. He looks like a 2 all the way, unless he’s playing with someone like LeBron. In fact, none of the Knicks’ non-traditional PGs (the 2 guys you dissed) have much in the way of elite ball-handling skill, i.e. can bring the ball up vs. pressure, can beat anyone bigger than him off the dribble, etc.

But there will be other guys. Randle is worth a camp invite, although it sounds like there’s interest in him elsewhere.

Vujacic is a fine emergency option at pg. Problem is when the emergency lasts the whole season.

That does sound feasible. I like the Baker signing, but yeah, I’d prefer them pick up a point guard, as well.

Baker is a possible Hornacek 2.0. He could be terrific. Willy should be a great asset too. Kuz is a maybe. NDour a hope with potential. Randle would be a nice addition as a 3rd PG. Triangle experience, 3 pt shooting and court leadership. Our summer league team was twice as good with him in the game. I don’t really see Plumlee’s potential except for rebounding because of a lack of rim protection and offense so I’d rather go with Randle as our 15th man.

I suspect Plumlee is an insurance policy in case Hernangomez or Kuz don’t work out for some reason. Be surprised to see him make the roster.

Sasha’s a totally fine back up for our PGs, such as they are. He played fine last year. Not well, but solid 3rd string practice guy. Baker’s the third string 2. I would have rather had another guard than Kuz since we’re pretty set at the 4/5 without him, but it seems unlikely. Maybe we’ll trade KOQ though, he seems.. unpopular with the FO.
