How to Watch the Christmas NBA Games: Bucks-Knicks, Lakers-Celtics, and More

Merry Christmas! I asked Santa for a new foot for Mitch. Have a great day whether you celebrate or not.

“Precious Achiuwa and Jaden Mcdaniels qualify.”

I like both of those guys! Sadly, Jaden McDaniels extended for 5 years/$136M so he’s not even remotely in this category. And Precious plays for an organization that we are suing for $10M.

I agree agree about Achiuwa. But I looked up Mcdaniels in Spotrac and it said his contract expires at the end of this season. Apparently it was out of date. I apologize. I wouldn’t have mentioned him if I knew.

I just saw a note about what it would take to get Klutch and the Knicks back on good terms. A discussion like that sounds like a potential Murray trade could be more than just noise.

Setting aside what I think of him as a player, it does make some sense if you are Knicks management planning to trade Quickley in another deal. Murray could immediately step into the starting PG role when Brunson is out and also play minutes with the 2nd unit as the backup.

That said, I think he’s better than his stats in Atlanta suggest playing next to Young, but I don’t think we’ll see his best with him playing next to Brunson either. Brunson will still have the ball in his hands more often and his rebounding prowess will be limited on a team like NY that has so many plus rebounders for their position. He’s signed for a lot of years and the cost will probably be too high.

Is it just me or are there more “games against the same opponent in a short time period” this year than usual? Just feels like deja vu.

“I would not blame Leon for spoiling our relationship with the raptors.”

This is fair I guess, but Leon at the least went along with the whole lawsuit thing. He might have indicated to Dolan that the negative publicity and hard feelings generated by the lawsuit weren’t worth it, being that the Raptors have several players that could help us and that might become available. While I think that there are legit grounds for the lawsuit, it’s probably a dumb idea in the grand scheme of things.

The NBA schedule is very weird in general this year, and sort of randomly extra weird for the Knicks.

    Merry Christmas to you all!

Z-man, that seems like a huge stretch and I also think it’s a huge assumption to think Leon has any sway over Dolan when it comes to stuff like this.

    “I apologize. I wouldn’t have mentioned him if I knew…”

No worries! In fact, his contract confirms that it would have been a GREAT idea if he was in fact available.

I’ve liked Precious since before the draft. He’s the kind of versatile big wing we could really use right now. Alas…

“Z-man, that seems like a huge stretch and I also think it’s a huge assumption to think Leon has any sway over Dolan when it comes to stuff like this.”

If you can’t convince your boss not to meddle in affairs that directly hamper your ability to do your job, you should resign. If you don’t, that’s fine but you own the consequences. My guess is that Leon was okay with it, but either way, he owns it.

If there was no lawsuit, but the Raptors did hire a Knicks employee and have him stay on the job a few weeks so he could steal Knicks confidential information and the Knicks found out about it, relationships would be bad between the two teams anyway. In that case, we wouldn’t be blaming Dolan or Rose for the bad relations. Of course relations are worse because of the lawsuit, but Toronto bears some of the blame for the bad relations too.

“Of course relations are worse because of the lawsuit, but Toronto bears some of the blame for the bad relations too.”

Oh, no doubt! I just wish that it were resolved through the normal channels without all the accusations about Silver being sort of a stooge for the Raptors’ owner. It just doesn’t seem like a good idea to publicly feud with either the commissioner or the team that you might want to do business with.

Now if the outcome is that the Raptors settle out of court in a way that benefits the on-court product, I’ll feel differently about it. For example, if a fair deal for OG happens while the lawsuit is withdrawn, that would change my mind. But as things stand, it would seem that the Raps would trade him anywhere else, even for a lesser return, than trade him to the Knicks.

Now of course, OG can simply refuse to extend anywhere other than the Knicks, but that’s not gonna happen, is it?

    Happy Holidays all

I wonder if Isaiah Stewart can be had. Great Hartenstein replacement once he prices himself out of NY. He could also be a great Mitch replacement should the FO choose to move Mitch and keep Hartenstein as the starter.

I know Jalen Williams is a nice young player and was the 12th pick in the draft so he obviously has some pedigree but doesn’t he have a negative BPM this season?

bpm should not be taken as a literal interpretation of a player’s value because it’s not really measuring value… it’s approximating contribution… jericho sims had a -0.5 bpm last year similar to williams this year but do you really think they have equal value.. mind you this is not even taking into account their fwd looking contributions either…

because doing things like what williams does is harder and much much more valuable than what sims does… for sims.. just standing under the basket gets you X number of rebounds… and because of his scarce opportunities he will provide very efficient offense… both of those things will generate a high bpm because grabbing boards and scoring efficiently is valued highly in bpm even tho to achieve high marks in those categories isn’t particularly special….

bpm doesn’t factor in scarcity…. carrying an offensive load is much harder… generating assists is much harder… rj barrett has a much worse bpm than sims too but he’s still much more valuable than him because of the role he plays… same with guys like dillon brooks…

that’s also not to mention that williams is penalized for being listed at pf.. which i don’t think is accurate… if he’s listed as a sg/sf he’d be much higher in bpm…

I just saw a note about what it would take to get Klutch and the Knicks back on good terms.

this is not Klutch and the knicks.. it’s Rich Paul and Leon Rose specifically….

“I wonder if Isaiah Stewart can be had.”

It would seem odd that the Pistons would extend him at 4/$60M just to trade him. Besides, his BPM is -3.3…which is really bad for a C…and it’s his fourth straight year of a negative BPM.

I’d rather go for Isaiah Jackson…he’s still on a rookie deal and is playing very limited minutes on the Pacers…

No matter what happens today I take solace in the fact that we’ll not have to play the bucks again for the rest of the regular season.

“No matter what happens today I take solace in the fact that we’ll not have to play the bucks again for the rest of the regular season.”

    Unfortunately that’s not true.

    The inevitable RJ bounce back.

If you average his last 2 games, you have an average NBA player.

Might be best defensive quarter of the season by the Knicks, hopefully they can keep it up rest of the game.
