    I didn’t watch the game, but is that right? 19 blocks for the Grizzlies?

    Yes, it was an absolute dogfight where the Knicks kept attacking the rim and getting swatted left and right, mostly by JJJ. Kanter was a total menace inside and the rest of the team was relentless, it was like a zombie charge, no matter how many times the Knicks had possessions snuffed out they just kept on coming. In particular, they threw the kitchen sink at Conley and eventually just wore him out.

    So Bagley had a 20-17 game the other day and again played pretty well today, JJJ is swatting shots left and right and starting to shoot well, Doncic is having an amazing start for a 19 year old and Ayton has a .630 ts% and is averaging 16-10 in 32 minutes for a the only team in the league with a worse point guard situation than us.

    What a top 4 this might be.

    It’s silly to think that he’s going to grossly over-play guys like Frank, Knox, Mitch, Trier (and why not throw in Kornet and Hicks) every game over Burke, Vonleh, Hezonja and Mudiay.

    I don’t expect him to over play the young kids.

    I only said winning with players who are unlikely to be here next year isn’t more palatable bc they’re under 26.

    So every win on the back of Enes Kanter and Emmanuel Mudiay feels as empty to me as the Jarrett Jack Michael Beasley wins last year. And ultimately all they’re doing is pushing us out of the top 5 with no reward besides increased morale.

    Well, Jarrett Jack was ancient and didn’t win many games for us and Michael Beasley had zero trade value no matter how well he performed to to his rep. Kanter might fetch assets at the deadline and Mudiay might either do that or be a reasonably priced young piece going forward. You can make all the false equivalencies you want to suit your narrative, but the reality is, it’s not the same at all.

    JJJ seems to have a very good feel for the game. He’s got rough edges but for a kid who just turned 19, wow.

    I honestly don’t know why Kanter can’t be a piece moving forward. Assuming he’s never going to be a defensive presence, we could use two 20-20 capable guys when KP comes back. Hey, how does a KP, Volneh, Kanter (3,4,5) front court sound?

    GoNY, it’s interesting you should mention that. I was just thinking about a KP, Vonleh and Robinson front court. The thing I worried about, and which relates to your proposed front court too, is who will guard the other team’s 3. I don’t think Kanter has a chance at this. Robinson is the quickest one of all of them, so maybe he can do it, but his strength is around the hoop, so most likely it would be Vonleh. And I don’t know if that would work well enough.

    Clearly, I knew what the term meant when I used it. Your statement that I don’t only supports my contention that you do indeed have a narrative.

    I call ’em as I see ’em. Nearly all of my heavy-handed posting is targeted at a few obstinate posters, particularly when it comes to Frank. I try to post lots of light-hearted stuff as well. If my “style” doesn’t pass muster with humorless, judgmental chaps like yourself, whatever.

    I have to agree with Z-man on the false equivalency. To equate Mudiay and Kanter (22 & 26 YO) to Jack and Beas (both >30 YO now) is, at best, disingenuous. On top of that, neither of the younger duo are going to be earning veteran minimums any time soon.

    But to answer your point, what SF could defend our SF?

    I actually was thinking that KP would be our SF. He’s not inclined to rebound much anyway and can you imagine having to shoot over him?

    If you are going to run out that line-up you might as well play a 2-3 zone and get Boehiem to coach…
