Knicks vs. Raptors Preseason Finale Game Thread

I don’t remember ever doing game threads for preseason games, and I definitely wasn’t going to do a game thread for that game the other day when the Knicks didn’t even send a full team to play Toronto, but fine, let’s send the Knicks out of the preseason with one final game thread!

I saw a bit on ESPN for the schedule that “Tickets going for as low as $67.” Brother, if you’re spending $67 to watch a preseason game, you’ve got a problem. And that’s the LOWEST price?!? For reals?!

Let’s go…I dunno, I guess Knicks? Who cares, it’s the preseason!

Can’t believe I can’t wait to watch this. Probably because the Knicks are by far the least disappointing thing in my life right now (and they clearly have a shelf life).

Diawara staring instead of Hart. Hart is a late scratch and won’t play tonight.

Great first quarter, between KAT, Brunson, and now Deuce.

I should probably hold this for when someone shits on Drummond as a backup 5, but he did lead the entire NBA in rebounding four times, and led the entire NBA in offensive rebounds 7 straight times. Seven. He’s no Hukporti, much as I liked Huk.

I assume first couple of months Knicks defense will be up and down due to fluctuating effort levels but they’re guaranteed to easily have another top 5 offense.

I’m more worried about his fouling/inability to stop any Raptor, but sure.

TBH I’d be fine with all the young guys’ progress, even Dadiet’s, but their roster spots make more sense going to wily vets on a team with repeat aspirations .

Dadiet is so very much Kevin Knox 2.0.

That blown wide-open dunk was just too much. You’re 6’8″ and wide open!!!!

Dadiet is like a solid actor playing an NBA player. All the movements look more or less like the real thing, but nothing actually happens.

Well that lineup with Drum was pretty interesting— you have Alvarado and Deuce in the backcourt, OG and Mikal on the wings, that’s a good amount of switchable, handsy defense that can paper over Drum at C a little bit

Drummond is a very solid backup. He’s not Mitch, who was a solid starter disguised as a backup. But on a vet’s minimum, he’s all you can ask for.

I’m not so down on Dadiet as I’m reading in posts here. I felt he did a good job eating minutes and checked his plus minus to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. It was +11 in five minutes! Now that is eating minutes.

Well, I’m more of a fan of 51-point blow-outs, but I guess it’ll do.

Wow, did you see that verticality, other NBA teams? They’re calling him the French Roy Hibbert. And to think you could get that guy for free, right now!

I honestly would rather have Dadiet than Bruce Brown. Brown didn’t show much in preseason but Dadiet looks like he’s starting to become competent.

As for no French guys, that would also mean no Diawara and he’s looking good for where he was drafted.

Okay, so the Dodgers not making the World Series means there won’t be a lockout, right? The 2027 season is saved now? Right? Hello?
