2025-26 Game Thread: Knicks @ Hornets

Okay, the scrubs are all done, now to show everyone how good this team is against other good teams!

Let’s go, Knicks!

57 wins is still in play, and that’s okay!

If there ever was a game the Knicks desperately need the ISM to come thru its tonight.

We’ve played like crap but only down 2 so that’s something…

Or, you know, down by 10

Never had more sympathy for a non-injured opposing player than I have for Coby White right now

Well the good news is Brunson looks like Brunson again and that’s kinda the most important thing

Nice quarter, the team started half asleep as always but seems very much awake now… let’s win this!

This ^^^^^^^^^^

alvarado is looking way suspect on offense the last couple of weeks…

what did he have, like one good week here…

if the offense sputters out without jalen – time to bring back kolek…move the ball more…

mikal and especially OG need to put up more shots…

gotta be honest – the charlotte hornets look like a very skilled, athletic and well coached basketball team…

Was someone uncomfortable with OG taking double digit 3’s a few days ago?

I’m totally fine with Alvarado getting singled out for sucking, but I think it’s also letting the other guys off the hook a bit.

54% FG 46% from 3 and we’re down 10 points. Wtf??

Welcome to 2020s NBA! 😉 😛

Jose may be getting a lot of splinters when Deuce comes back

He was acquired for Dalen Terry, FFS. He isn’t very good and hasn’t been over 5700 minutes.

“gotta be honest – the charlotte hornets look like a very skilled, athletic and well coached basketball team…”

Yeah, they also have some decent positional size, especially at PG.

I would bet before the season Coby White circles every Knicks game on the calendar.

Yeah, especially since our biggest problem is on defense. Seems like Brunson is getting cooked in the paint by Miles Bridges and then on the perimeter by Brandon Miller.

Maybe KAT should have a slug outta Clarkson’s water bottle…

The Knicks scored 19 points in the second qtr, alot of that because Alvarado was awful

They dropped 65 points on us in two quarters. The first five and the last five minutes of this half were particularly bad. Any discussion other than our [non]defense is redundant in my eyes.

That KAT has less points than Mitchell Robinson isnt good because that means he can’t be on the court .

I would bet before the season Coby White circles every Knicks game on the calendar.

West team trying to sign White in free agency…
“How many times do you play the Knicks? Just two?? No, thank you!”

Honestly our defense this quarter hasn’t been that bad. They’re making tough shots.

Kon should be ROY. If we have to face these guys in the first god damn round that would be just our luck.

Any time I mention the publishing term “one-shot,” my wife mimics the Knicks “one-shot” announcer. It’s weird but cute.

It’s a rhythm thing. They are the hottest offense in the NBA right now. They are scary. We should have gotten into their spaces and made them feel us early on. Once they get into rhythm, you are in trouble. They make difficult shots. We need to disrupt them and this is not easy now.

Brunson is the only guy on the Knicks interested in playing professional basketball.

Going Under screens against somebody shooting threes isn’t smart . Coach should tell his players that

Fast break points 13-0

Team doesn’t get easy points ever unless it’s a tanker

Outhustled, outmuscled, another long physical team that gives the Knicks trouble

Iowa/Nebraka
Way More interesting than this

Yes NCAA is winning this battle tonight

Outhustled, outmuscled, another long physical team that gives the Knicks trouble

Playoffs are different and the Knicks could be saving their energy for that, but I would think Charlotte will be very eager to get to the 6th seed if this team is 3rd.

The Hornets are annoying, but I think that they will likely be a 2026-27 problem. So the Knicks just have to win the title THIS YEAR.

Single digit game! The closest they’ve been in the second half!

In all seriousness, isn’t the play to start fouling with two minutes left?

Brunson fouled with 6 seconds on the clock, you either foul right away or you try to defend.

I expected the Hornets offense, but I was also impressed by their defense tonight, particularly in the second half. Hornets were the more energetic and aggressive team for most of the game. I don’t understand how the Knicks allowed themselves to be out-rebounded so horribly. Plus, they were being beaten to loose balls all the time. This was really annoying.

I know this is a different Hornets team than earlier in the season, but we did kick their ass the other 2 times we played them

Just trying for a little perspective…

Different team as you said *

Need to play with more hunger, but maybe they are waiting

Yeah, it was so dumb.

We’ll play a lot better in the playoffs, or at least I hope so. This game was important to the Hornets, and not so much for the Knicks.

I don’t know if and how much of this will carry over in playoffs, but Charlotte looks scary right now. Tonight, they outplayed us badly.

Cyber if the Knicks wanted the 2nd seed yeah it was, but we shall see come playoff time.

I was shocked to look at the box score and see that Diabate only had 5 rebounds. It seemed like he had 20.

That kid’s defensive athleticism, acumen, motor, and skill package is very impressive.

The Hornets have an interesting mix of players in their rotation:
Rugged banger types: Sion, Grant
Live-wire rim protectors: Diabate, Kalkbrenner
Scoring wings: Knueppel, Miller, Bridges
Long, flaky, explosive PGs: LaMelo, Coby

Gotta give Charles Lee credit, he has them hustling their asses off and playing great team ball. I think we are the better team, but this one was definitely a wake-up call.

Starters outside of Brunson were efficient. Not enough shot attempts for the others.

Knicks as a team averaged 46 rebounds per game coming into this game

Tonight they had 24.
