New York ranks fifth in the NBA in defensive rating (107.3 points per 100 possessions) in that span, holding two of their last three opponents under 106 points. The Portland Trail Blazers only eclipsed that mark in overtime, where Mikal Bridges’ buzzer-beater sealed a dramatic 114-113 victory on the road.

Before Brunson’s injury, the Knicks’ defense was middle-of-the-pack, ranking 17th in defensive rating through the first 62 games of the season.

Brunson’s injury led to Miles McBride stepping into the starting lineup, and his defensive impact has been immediate.

The fourth-year guard has energized the perimeter alongside Bridges and OG Anunoby, forming a relentless trio that pressures ball-handlers, forces turnovers and creates easy transition opportunities.

In just three games as a starter, McBride has been a defensive menace:

He logged four steals and two blocks in Portland
He has at least one steal in each of his last five games
The Knicks are holding opponents to 99.5 points per 100 possessions when he is the floor
And he leads all guards in defensive rating over the last seven games
    The results speak for themselves.

The Knicks lead the NBA in both turnovers forced (18.3 per game) and points off takeaways (24.3 per game) since inserting McBride into the lineup. They’ve also held opponents to just 41.3 points in the paint per game, tied for fourth-fewest in the league over that stretch.

It doesn’t take a hoops savant to realize replacing Brunson’s minutes with Deuce and Precious’ minutes with Mitch is going to impact the D positively.

The question is whether deuce should play in the starting line up with Brunson and Mitch with KAT. That’s what we need to find out in the last 20 ish games, but Brunson’s ankle is going to make that dicey.

I’d like to see Mitch, Precious, OG, Mikal and Deuce on late defensive possessions.

Interesting info on our defense. So, fourth straight for us, or seventh straight for them?

Here’s what I do know. I will not spend my time looking at Bronny highlights. Call me petty, but that’s 15 seconds I’ll never get back.

Bronny highlight reals is like watching a Corey Feldman music video where he “channels” the other MJ.

I thought that we couldn’t do politics here. Or is that just me?

Did someone do politics here, Doogie? I try to just ignore it when they do because it’s so traumatic to have to hear about. This has been a hard year for many.

    Yeah, someone did politics here:

You never deserve billions, no matter how hard you work or how crafty you are. This goes without saying for the notoriously corrupt horse racing business. There is a class war going on in this country. Wealth distribution is as bad as it has ever been in US history, and over 60% of American families can barely make ends meet. No, they are not lazy and they are not losers. Something is terribly wrong with the way things are going.

Nothing but disgust toward cleptocracy, the Dolans of the world, the Repoles of the world, and so on.

Spoken like a true socialist. 😉

I have no problem with someone making billions off brilliant ideas, hard work and/or brilliant capital allocation. People that are employed by their growing businesses benefit from it. People that buy shares in their companies benefit from it. Society benefits from it. I want them to keep coming up with good ideas, keep working hard and keep investing as much as they can.

There are many reasons we are in this predicament with wealth distribution.

    Here are a few.

    1. Both republicans and democrats fell for “free trade is mutually beneficial” lie that even Ross Perot warned would gut US workers when he ran for office.

Free trade benefitted US corporations that left the US for cheaper labor, lower taxes & less regulation, investors that owned shares in their companies and some workers whose jobs weren’t gutted that got cheaper goods. It destroyed much of the middle class and took away part of the tax base. Part of this is also outsourcing data processing and other similar high paying jobs.

    2. Immigration of both high and low skilled workers increased the supply of labor which put downward pressure on wages in “some” industries. Why train and/or pay US workers what they are worth when we can bring workers here to work for less and make up some BS about not having enough workers to do those low skill or high skill jobs. Part of this is also outsourcing data processing and other similar high paying jobs.

    3. The Wall St/banking/Federal Reserve system is essentially a giant financial rape and pillage machine. The Fed provides the fuel for speculation, Wall St provides the hype, bubbles form, Wall St gets rich, regular people get scammed and when it blows up the little guy goes bust and Wall St/Banks get both direct bailouts from the govt and help from the Fed in terms of negative real interest rates. Our monetary system is not just unsound, it’s immoral.

    4. Rich people use government in corrupt ways and that includes the politicians getting rich while in office.

I’m sure there are others, but those the ones that I’ve seen repeatedly in my own life. I both agree and disagree with you.

    Hey Doogie,

Shut the fuck up. Don’t bring crap over from other threads, don’t comment about politics here, leave it the fuck alone.

You may well be the single most tone-deaf asshole I’ve ever read.

And don’t tell me all your friends say otherwise. They’re lying to your face.

Shut the fuck up. And my friends don’t lie. LOL

I just don’t appreciate being told that I cannot comment about politics here (as you just wrote to me), when it seems that it’s OK when other folks do it. Either all of us can do it, or none of us can. Make up your mind. 🙂

Definitely a lot to skip, Clarence. Glad you went back to the beautiful simplicity of your original handle! (Actually even more beautiful, since you also removed the “Beeks.”)

I don’t think that the clap would keep Porzingis out this long, would it? (I’ve never had it, so I don’t know.) He’s been out for…….oh, he’s only been out since February 26, so just two and one-half weeks (seemed longer). Then I don’t know. Maybe.

Grimes didn’t play last night, either. What’s the deal with *him* now?

Seriously, bringing in posts from old threads just to complain about people not not liking them is the epitome of lame.

LOL! Yay…….my old friend Donnie comes home to roost. Welcome.

By the way, it wasn’t really an “old” thread. There were about 12 hours between it being posted and my writing something about it. I mean, it was *today*, for G-d’s sake! And Clarence specifically asked me if anyone had posted about politics, so my response to that specific question was to show him that indeed, yes, someone *did* post about politics. Chill.

I think we’re going to get slapped around tonight…curry is on a mission right now…

Yeah, I kind of agree. I don’t think that we’re going to win tonight. I’ve been surprised before, though. I didn’t think we were going to beat the Kings, either. We don’t tend to do well against teams that shoot 3s a lot.

True story. Im on a beach.

Im smacking balls around with my hubby playing with a prized possession (beautiful Brazilian paddles) and a blue bottle washes up next to us and i crack wise “the condom of the sea” my hubby says”what the fuck are you talking about” i point at the blue bottle he points a little further up the beach where a condom had deposited itself after presumably some kind of indecent proposal on a yaught(or so I imagined). He said “those are the condoms of the sea” and I was like “don’t talk politics to me babe”

Doogie, don’t you dare correct that spelling error. Go outside and get some fresh air.

There have been so many spelling errors that I have not corrected that I lost count long ago.

I’ve already been out to pick up some Chinese for my girlfriend. It’s a little cold, and about to rain, so I’m in no particular rush to go out again anytime very soon.

counter point…i like it when everyone does their own thing, the chaos of it, disparate thought streams going on simultaneously, in a format that allows you to digest them at your leisure…i’m more apt to skip a basketball related post than someone’s odd up on a soapbox ramblings…

particularly on game days, we get to file this conversation away shortly…

and for the record, i wanna watch and feel a game sitting beside BigBlueAl, that would be both fun and exciting…

okay, so i get the whole relinquish and relent for the betterment of the community thing/stuff…goes counter to the first 50 or so years of my social existence, i’m just saying…

thinking about relationships in general and all the sacrifice involved…subjecting myself to the will of others, a keystone it seems to successful relationship building…

feeling must be weighing on me – as a matter of principle, made sure to play killing in the name of for the boys yesterday, just so they could hear: fuck you i won’t do what you tell me, over and over again…

thought seriously about taking the 20% plus whatever additional income tax cost penalty and withdrawing all of it from my 401k…think the last time the market crashed lost about 30 something percent…i’m better balanced now, but a good chunk of my stuff is still in the S&P…yep, that and idly watching the federal agencies i was hoping to utilize shrink and shrink…interesting times for honest men, and snakes too…government of/for/by the people…

Depends on the topic. More complex subjects require a more careful reading, which justifies taking longer in those instances.

I have to skip at least half of the posts here on a daily basis.

I’m going Jowles on this bitch. See you all around from time to time.

So this is the way Knickerblogger ends

Not with a bang but an editor’s incessant whimper

I think there’s plenty of substantive posting here. Scrolling past stuff isn’t that hard. If that’s too hard for folks to do, whatever.
