Dallas is remarkably good. Much better than I expected at the beginning of the season.

Agreed, they had an unexpected and very good trade deadline (Washington, Gafford) plus the Luka-Kyrie duo, in the right day, is unstoppable.

They’re absolutely a wild card and could go to the WCF, on the other hand they could melt and lose with the Clippers in 6 or 7.

Anyway the Denver-Minnesota-OKC trio is really strong.

I hate to give Cuban credit, but they did have a good deadline and have managed to keep Kyrie happy so far. Scoring was never going to be an issue with Doncic and Irving, but they are defending well now too. That makes them dangerous.

Can someone more technologically savvy please put together a montage of the Embiid flagrant/should have been flagrant fouls from Game 3. I recall at least 1) knee to balls, 2) ankle pull, 3) ass-check screen. What else am I missing?

Good trade deadline and using the Knicks pick last year to draft Lively.

These playoffs will probably reveal many disgruntled big dogs.
Picking up a well behaved one could be easier than during previous off seasons.

Didn’t watch the game, but impressed with Kawhi scoring 9 points, George 7, and Westbrook 1.

Probably not how they envisioned it.

Booker may be the most likely. He was part of the original Leon dream plan, Phoenix is a catastrophe and he’s by far the most tradeable of those three (and Beal has a no trade clause somehow).

Something like DDV, Deuce, Bogey, picks? Or Randle instead of DDV?

In any trade I think they would want a really solid young player for Booker. Suns have to think about not giving the Nets top 5 picks in the future when they make these deals

No matter how the season ends, or who is available in the off season, I sure hope we don’t break up the Nova York trio. It’s the soul of this team we need to build around it. Everyone else is fair game tho.

I agree with the suit. Maybe it’s just the fan in me, but I don’t see the supernova’s getting split up any time soon. I would love to add Booker somehow though.

If the Suns trade Booker it will be because they want to rebuild. They’ll probably want mostly draft picks. As for players, I suspect McBride will be desired because he is so young and on a great contract. Who else we trade might depend on who we draft. For example, if we picked Edey, it would sense to trade one of our centers.

On another topic I’ve listened to some podcasts on the playoffs. Dunc’d On has a free episode that goes into detail about the recent game and all the coaching decision and Hollinger and Duncan has a free episode that discusses the current state of the playoffs.

Some items if interest: Game two between the Knicks and Sixers was considered the best playoff game of any so far this year. In Dunc’d On, the two speakers were split on whether Embiid should have received a flagrant two. Holliinger labeled McBride as the player with the most surprisingly good performance. He said McBride’s inability to get to the net in the past had limited his minutes, but now he can clearly do it and it’s a big improvement. The slow pace of play for both Knicks and Pacers hides how good both offenses are and both offenses are excellent.

Interesting stuff, Knicks fan. Thanks. Oft forgotten in the Flagrant 2 discussion is that Embiid really deserved a Flagrant 1 for the knee into iHart’s naughty bits, making the second Flagrant an automatic ejection, regardless.

It’s funny, I can get sad or happy from sports, but that game is one of the very few times I’ve actually gotten angry. And I still am. Can’t remember the last time that’s happened, to be honest.

Angry at sports? Or just angry. If the latter, please provide advice (will be most appreciated from me, but perhaps a few other posters may benefit).

Yeah, I think flagrant two was appropriate. I also recall the knee to Hartenstein happened after the foul on Mitch. If it had happened before they might have given a flagrant one then and then not be able to avoid Embiid being ejected when he grabbed Mitch.

I saw a clip of Marbury before Game 3 talking about how Brunson could better attack the 76ers defense. You see someone like Marbury play and you just assume they go out there with their talent and do whatever comes naturally but listening to him specifically break down different ways Brunson should attack off the pick you realize just how incredibly smart these players are and how much film they obviously watch.

Pretty sure the knee to iHart was before the Mitch tackle.

I still can’t get over the game 2 NBA 2 minute report missing the 2 hand shove that Maxey gave Hart to get free. It negates any missed calls when Maxey later turned it over.

According to one of the podcasts I mentioned above one of the Knicks adjustments for game three was to start picks for Brunson higher up the court. Then he could drive to the net faster before pulling up for a shot. This eliminated their ability to block him from behind.

I agree on this. Was there any 2M report for the last game? Embiid definitely fouls iHart on Batum’s block.

Yeah, the knee to iHart was before the Mitch takedown.

I think it’s just as egregious. I mean, how do you knee someone when you’re going downcourt and he’s slowly backpedaling and neither of you have the ball? Maybe driving to the hoop with the ball, up in the air, shit happens. But you’ve got to run straight into a guy who’s basically standing there to get a knee into someone’s groin.

Unless the palsy kicked in and Joel went momentarily blind so he couldn’t see the seven-foot guy in front of him, that was a purposeful knee.

And BE, it’s just mad at sports, sadly. Little Raven can still push my buttons now and again.

8 [including this one] out of the last 9 playoff games the Cavs have failed to reach 100 points.

And Draymond probably goes the other way, i.e. he gets away with none.

Really disappointed with the league’s silence on the matter. Guess they only care about the last two minutes of a game.

Yeah, the knee to iHart was before the Mitch takedown.

Not talking about Embiid’s knee to the groin. He also fouled iHart to the face in the last two minutes when Batum got a decisive block on iHart’s shot.

I don’t find the last two minute report for game three. Just curious if that (and any others) were noted as correct non call or incorrect non call.

I’m conflicted about Cavs-Magic series. On the one hand, karma is a bitch and for the Cavs it doesn’t look like tanking in the middle of the last regular season game is working out for them. They’re in a dogfight of a series. On the other, if they flame out, Mitchell will mostly likely ask out and make the Knicks his most desired situation and not sure Leon says no this time. Hard pass for me

It’s a number of teams that may be falling apart this summer. Cavs, Bucks, Suns, and so on. This could be a very busy off season.

Not talking about Embiid’s knee to the groin. He also fouled iHart to the face in the last two minutes when Batum got a decisive block on iHart’s shot.

There is a clear difference between being physical and being dirty. The Knicks are physical but not dirty. I was happy we didn’t have to face Dirty Bam in the first round, but it turns out Dirty Embiid is the same and worse. He knocked out Robinson, almost did the same to Hartenstein, got away with it, and who knows what else he may do in this series.

I would trade for Mitchell but only if Randle, Bojan, plus picks is the trade which most likely is a nonstarter because they have no need for Randle.

I think if we want to upgrade the team it needs to be Randle and Bojan’s contracts plus picks going out. Unless we are getting a top 10 player in their prime I think you have to keep everyone else. Everyone else is either too valuable to us or does not add enough value to a trade to warrant losing them.

The dirty play from Embiid is making me angry as well. He is so much worse than Green because for one he doesn’t need to be that kind of player because he is already great, and two the hypocrisy of being dirty on one end and then constantly complaining about fouls on the other is so gross.

I also think he wants to hurt players more. I think Green wants to intimidate them but I think Embiid legitimately wants to injure people. After watching him against Nic Claxton last year, and diving into John Collins’s knee, and a whole compilation of dirty plays over the years I think he should not be in the NBA. I truly hope for a bad injury for him.

Mitch is listed as Questionable for tomorrow so that’s great news.

I’d say it a bit different, Ben. I think Draymond wants to hurt others, but it’s because he tries to intimidate by being physical as you say (so does Randle, at least on offense), and then something happens and he loses his shit and kapow. Embiid, on the other hand, is a calculatingly dirty player.

In the final plays of game two, the referees had to make split-second decisions. It is argued that they missed two calls against the home team. Even if this is correct, the errors are understandable (though not justifiable). What happened in game 3, however, is different. The refs went to the monitor twice about Embiid, and they later said that Secaucus was of the same opinion as them. It needed a lot of strength for the right call to be made. The refs didn’t have that strength. Had they ejected Embiid after all the grievances about game 2, the series would have been over, and everybody would be blaming the refs. What they decided was a calculated, coldblooded, and deliberate gift to the home team.

I think tomorrow we should give a cold-hearted calculated gift to the home team by absolutely diving at at Embiid’s bad knee every chance we get.

Mitch is listed as Questionable for tomorrow so that’s great news.

That is great news, indeed! The former so-called “MVP” elbowed him, then pulled him down while air-borne, and then “accidentally” fell on this legs to finish the job.

Mitchell will mostly likely ask out and make the Knicks his most desired situation

He could very well ask for the Heat

He could very well ask for the Heat

I think this is the other way around. The Heat could very well ask for him. The question is whether the Knicks will be as much interested in trading for him as they were two years ago.

I don’t think the Heat have the capital to trade for Mitchell. They have to send out their 2025 and 2027 picks, so their earliest tradable pick is 2029 if I’m reading it correctly.

I’m still annoyed at the game, and not sure what to expect tomorrow. What I’d like to see from the Knicks depends on the refs. If they are calling tick-tacky fouls on Embiid, make each foul count. The kind of stuff where he just flails is the annoying part. If the refs are allowing a physical game, make his life as painful as possible. I’m not saying they need to injury him, but he can’t get away with the Harden stuff where he gets his FTs and laughs.

Sometimes it feels players get called for fouls just by standing next to him. This is maddening. I’d say beat the sh-t out of him once you are going to be called for a foul anyway. By the way, Sims has been out of the rotation but he is strong and has six hard fouls to give. Plus, if he gets upset and gets out of control, there is a chance he will pay for it this time.

It’s… interesting that while Randle gets shat on for his playoff time (despite injuries), two of our most talked-about trade options, Mitchell and Booker, are laying two of the biggest poos of these playoffs.

Let’s forget the offensive ineptitude for a moment, I can’t remember a Heat team making so many defensive mistakes and mental errors…

    Derrick White’s a wonderful… role player 😀

Could the Cavs fire Bickerstaff mid-series?

Didn’t watch any games today but looking at the box scores… the Celtics took 18 more shots than Miami in the 1st half!

I thought it was funny, too, BBA. Don’t be intimidated by the heckler in the front row!

KBA they only do L2M reports for games within 3 pts or less.

    Aha. Many thanks, Hubert.

And plus one on the hard fouls to Embiid tomorrow. The free throws are worth the same either way, so ….

If you guys think the league isn’t gonna protect Embiid from the same kind of cheap shots he dished out in G3 you’ll be very disappointed. We didn’t even do a formal complaint or whatever bullshit the Sixers did to get the G3 golden whistle…

I think Knickerblogger needs to get with the program. Anyone who has any contact with media people who write or babble about basketball, send that Rough twitter bit above about how very much worse Embiid is than Draymond. C’mon, let’s change the narrative! If not us, who?

(FYI, I have zero contact with anyone of importance, real or imagined, so I’m shit out of luck.)

Was gonna say same. I’m thinking Alan does a long feature interview in Rolling Stone with Edie Falco looking in deep despair at replays of Embiid’s fouls in game 3 just like Mick looking at Altamont footage in GIMME SHELTER. For context RS prints frame by frame stills of all Embiid’s dirty plays on that night and throughout his career and the evidence speaks for itself 😉

LeBron is going to bully his way to the Knicks this off season. Lol

LeBron is going to bully his way to the Knicks this off season. Lol

I’m still waiting for one pure basketball analysis on why someone would draft Bronny outside of “to get LeBron”. And speaking of Mr. James, the Laker fans I know all say “he’s not Kobe”. Part of that is unrealistic expectations from someone who – as great as he is – about to turn 40. But part of it is them knowing that LeBron as a Laker is mostly a business arrangement. Sure, they just so happened to get a (covid) ring out of the deal, but any path for them to get back to serious contention with him has set sail. I don’t see him taking the kind of paycut on a new deal that would allow the team to go after another high-level star or get a better bench. And the Lakers would absolutely burn a 2RP to draft Bronny…

I’ve actually heard LeBron to Philly whispers, which would be terrifying but unlikely.

If the Lakers did blow it up, what do we think about AD as our missing piece? (I think I’d be too scared of his availability and his contract, personally.)
