The Knicks host the reeling Kings in a game after learning the sad news that Julius Randle will be out for the rest of the season.
The Kings, as noted, are dealing with a lot of injuries themselves (though not to as important players), so this is a game that the Knicks really, really need to win.

Dolan hates the media, or at least hates negative media and he’s been beligerent towards Knicks media most of his tenure, I imagine it’s an outgrowth of that. The lying about the injuries may be a Leon thing, but it’s not like Dolan is telling him to knock it off and talk to reporters.

SAC scored 46 points with around 8 minutes left in the second quarter. They were getting anything they wanted, uncontested mid-range, open 3s. This was ridiculous. Finally our defense decided to show up for the last 8 minutes. This is why we are still in this game.

Worst start of the season followed by maybe the best close of the season. Nice. Hart was huge. If he and Bogey can stay strong and accurate it could almost make to for Julius. Now if we can just get back OG…

First quarter sucked, 2nd and about half the 3rd were incredibly frustrating because it looked like another game where we just weren’t going to get all the way back and then the end was beautiful
I fell asleep partway through the third and apparently missed us kicking the shit out of the Kings

This win is nothing short of heroic, and it is not the first of this kind! We got the defense going in the middle of the second quarter, and played excellent defense in the second half. The offense got going because Brunson, unlike the past few games and the start of this one, stopped trying to do it all by himself. He was rapidly getting rid of the ball when blitzed or doubled and that was creating an immediate advantage for us on the top of the key where I-Hart or Josh Hart were waiting for the pass to initiate offense. Both had excellent games while Mike Brown kept sleeping on the wheel.
I don’t know where this team finds the energy. I want to have what they are having!

Deuce didn’t have a good game offensively and a bad one defensively. Fox is very quick and was schooling him all night long.

I’ve seen a few Kings games this year, and it’s fascinating, he’s obviously good at getting things set up before the game, but in game he doesn’t seem particularly good.
Exactly! It was Thibs who was caught off guard at the start, and this explains those easy mid-range and 3pt SAC shots off screens. Brunson blitzes were also effective. Thibs made the adjustments. Brown never adjusted.

I’ve been replacing the water pump in my washing machine all during the game, got a lot done in the first half, not so much in the second. Great win, I really would have found another terrible loss hard to take, especially after the Randle news.
What really stood out is how bad the Kings’ interior defense is. Once Brunson started passing out of that high double-team, the Kings got roasted at the rim. The need a rim-protector real bad.
We’ve been getting those double teams since the Lakers game in early February! But hey better two months later than never 🙂
