I did read the Athletic piece and think Zach Harper is an idiot. Not just about the Knicks, either – I would gladly bet against him if I could on so many predictions. But I’m waiting till the season starts before putting out a guess as to W/L: I don’t think the Knicks have a major trade on the horizon, but I would be surprised if Dame and a few others don’t moved.
Harden is obviously the big piece. If Morey does trade him, it’s hard to see him not moving Embiid as well. And he’s not there kind of person to hold up a trade to a rival if the terms are right.
We’ll see. Meanwhile I can root for that limited, low-ceiling hustlebunny QG. Who, as I’ve said, has the potential to be a far better player than RJ.

Zach Lowe brought up an interesting clause in the CBA on his latest podcast-I forget the exact details but basically Harden has to at least sort of play, if he doesn’t show up he can’t sign as a free agent anywhere without the sixers agreement. Older Harden trying to slow play his way out of town doesn’t feel like a guy who would get a lot of interest in a trade market, especially since he’s already announced there’s only one team he’ll play for.
Heading to Atl for a week with my 16 y/o daughter. Any suggestions on things do, places to eat? I already bought 2 city passes, so we will use those for all the major attractions.
Hey Geo, writing a million dollar grant proposal based on work I’ve done over the years and largely forgotten about. It’s a peculiar experience, sort of an episode of “This is your life.” Trying to get up enough mojo to go for a run in a bit, maybe hit the gym and work on my four-pack. Otherwise pretty quiet.

I’d have a hard time getting excited about Harden if I were a generic NBA team. He is a long way down from his peak. The defense isn’t great. He’d be a big upgrade for us on RJ. If he wanted to sign for the mid level he would make us a much more interesting team.
But I don’t understand how an NBA team can make paying him 40 million per worthwhile.
My understanding is a new era is dawning where there is going to be a little more gradation in salary and where fewer guys not worthy of the max get it. It’s something people have mused about anyway. Harden seems like an interesting test case.
Your daughter may not enjoy it much, but for me a fun thing to do in ATL is to go to all the poker games and poetry readings I can and try to guess which one might be ptmilo.
I didn’t know he lived there, but that’s an easy one. I’ll just misuse some obscure basketball statistic. The guy who can’t help himself from correcting me is our man.
This is ironic because sometimes I hang out at PCH eateries and try to guess which man in the tesla is Donnie.
