I think Martin, Brown Jr, and Skapintsev have definitely earned a nice training camp and preseason look. I didn’t know Skapintsev could pass that well- I am pleasantly surprised by his game. At minimum, I hope he, Brown Jr, and Foster all stick with Westchester. Martin’s gonna spend some time on the Knicks roster this season. We do need a PG to develop though. I wonder if McClung is available. Ewing did him a disservice by not playing him at PG at Georgetown. Akinjo was not a better lead guard, and that was clear by the way McClung played in HS. Maybe he can be salvaged at this point and be more than just an outstanding dunker

I think Brown will get a better contract than G-league somewhere, maybe in Europe if not in the NBA. He’s old enough that he might take the money instead of staying in G-league and trying for the NBA.

Honestly, I’m not sure why posters here don’t consider Keels a point guard. He’s playing the position in summer league. He seems to be organizing the offense well and makes good passes to open players. And in the last game his shooting was actually good.

Not sure exactly what I am looking forward to this NBA season but Chet’s return is on the short list.

Man. i totally forgot about Chet.

There’s no way the Thunder can pay all these guys, right? I can see Josh Giddey becoming available in a year.

We don’t have a Cam Whitmore panic thread up? I heard he had 8 steals.

Thibs hates steals. Never would have worked.

If it turns out that Chet can play, that team is gonna get real good real fast. Giddey is a chrome and leather piece, a versatile wing who stuffs the boxscore. I’d think they’ll hold onto him. I even like their nuts and bolts pieces, as some of those have considerable upside. Also a fan of the Micic signing.

The Thunder had a positive point differential last year and are poised for a breakout. They’re my spirit animal team and I’ll be following them closely this year.

My spirit animal team had been Memphis for a couple of years. However, to mix metaphors, that ship looks to be taking on water and its captain (point guard) might be on a Captain Ahab-like path to self-destruction.

OKC is loaded already and they have a million draft picks going forward. We need to keep a good relationship with Presti just to be able to acquire some of their excess talent.

    New York Basketball @NBA_NewYork:
Michael Scotto: “NY, Phoenix, & Indiana had exploratory discussions on a 3-team trade where
–Cam Payne would’ve joined the Knicks,
–TJ McConnell would’ve joined the Suns
–Evan Fournier & pick compensation would’ve gone to the Pacers
    …variations of the talks…involved Jordan Nwora…
NY would’ve created a traded player exception of over $19 million
    …talks have since stalled”

Have to imagine that would mean we’re planning on trading IQ. Payne is a fine backup but we have no need for him with IQ here.

I think he would’ve been a substitute for signing DDV probably, and then we use the MLE on someone else. I really hope it doesn’t mean we’re trying to trade IQ rather than just extending him at the value he deserves

They’re my spirit animal team and I’ll be following them closely this year.

I am with you. SGA-Giddey-Jalen-Chet is such an intriguing core.

And I still have a major crush on Ousmane Dieng from the 5 mins I thought he was a Knick.

Ousmane Dieng has been looking very good in summer league. He doesn’t look like much of an offense initiator, but the Thunder have lots of playmakers and he could contribute as a role player who can defend, crash the boards and knock down an open jumper, sort of a power forward variant of a 3-and-D guy. If he pans out that’s another really useful piece for them, because they would be able to throw some pretty insane length at you.

It will be interesting to see what OKC looks like when the roster ages and they have used some capital to acquire either a star or quality depth. Obviously they will eventually run into a roster crunch…it’s hard to predict who will stay and who will not.

I’m also fascinated to see how Chet and Wemby hold up to NBA-level physicality. Re: Wemby, this was a mistake.

if dame wasn’t such a bitch okc would be a real dark horse in trading for him…. and as it stands they are likely to make a pretty hefty jump up the win curve and they are a threat in any major star deal going forward….

that’s not really good for us but i think we’re sort of on a collision course for donovan mitchell anyway barring anything super surprising happening….

Chet is the missing piece and all eyes will be on him on what exactly he can bring… and if he’s anywhere near the guy everyone thinks he is the league is in serious trouble for a long long time….

if dame wasn’t such a bitch okc would be a real dark horse in trading for him….

Because they have SGA already, OKC is one of the few teams that would experience diminishing returns if they traded for Lillard.

life, liberty and the pursuit of endless content…inalienable rights…

I have no idea what inalienable means…I’m not looking it up either…

I heard Bill Simmons interview of Ishbia right when he took over the team. He sounded like a fan friendly owner, which kind of makes sense because he’s basically a big fan himself. It’s a good interview. You can probably find it easily just by scrolling down through the episodes of the Bill Simmons podcast.
