I have to say, the news clips above talk about how Bob Myers won’t come to the Knicks. There is really no chance he will come to work for Rose instead of running his own organization. I don’t know why it is even being brought up. There is much more chance Perry will replace Myers, even if the probability of that is still low.

Of course the team that could really use Perry’s skills is Dallas, but they won’t hire him either.

I missed the baseball stadium recs yesterday, for citi field mikkeller used to be a great spot with a decent amount of space for kids, but i haven’t been to the new place that took over the spot.
But really you’re in Flushing, you should get Chinese food if the kids aren’t picky… Hot Pot, Shabu Shabu, KBBQ, Dim Sum, you can’t really go wrong. Definitely recommend Szechuan Mountain House great food fun traditional vibe. Also love to hit up a bunch of food stands and try different things. White Bear Dumpling, Corner 28 Peking Duck Bao, Meat skewers fresh off the coals from the carts. There’s also the Ganesh Temple Canteen which is kind of the Mecca of Dosa and other South Indian Veg.

Yankees Stadium definitely corporate and overpriced and it’s been a minute since I’ve been, but im assuming Lobel’s still exists, and I’ve had David Chang and Marcus Samuelson’s fried chickens outside the stadium, so it’s not like its a food desert.

Sleepy finals so far, and the media is not crowning anyone yet. I think Miami will have a stronger sense of urgency in game 2 tonight, but Denver won’t feel overconfident. Probably a closer game, with the Nuggets still winning.

Im looking forward to an improved team next year. I don’t really care what shape that takes. Julius can be a mess mentally, but he’s been taking steps to address that and seems like he wants to be here. And he kind of makes up for it in being a workhorse physically. He’s not perfect but he’s coachable.
Same thing with RJ. He hasn’t showed much positive over the majority of his minutes. If you can get something positive for him that fits the timeline and is a better fit for the team, I think you pull the trigger. But if they don’t I think his shooting and defense will improve, which will make him a better fit. My doubts with him have always been about decision making and feel for the game. That comes with time, and I know this horse has already been pummeled into glue, but he is still young. He really allayed my fears in the post season, small sample size and all. I really think we are close to that Mamba Mentality being a net positive. But if they make a good move cest la vie.
Long term i think this team has a game plan, i think that game plan makes sense and allows them to take advantage of underpriced resources. I think they have a spacing problem, but its not insurmountable, even with keeping the current roster and just slight improvements by making it an off season focal point.
One problem i do see is defending teams with centers who operate away from the rim. Im hopeful that Thibs can figure it out, the answer might just mean more Hartenstein minutes against those teams, perhaps with jHart thrown in to shore up the rebounding. Im excited for next season and id be happy if they ran it back plus Burks at the MLE. Just a 5% chance it all goes to shit, but for the Knicks i take those odds

If Randle can put together b2b seasons where he doesn’t regress, we’ll be ok with minor tweaks next season. The issue is where will his head be after rehab? Brunson takes alot of pressure off of him, and we saw how that affected him during the season. Randle has always been confident- nearly cocky in a way. But we saw a more calm form of confidence from him the majority of last season, like he knows what he’s gonna be able to do night in and night out. Let’s hope he stays in great spirits over the offseason

Julius played hurt the whole playoffs! And pretty well… Every single player on the roster improved this season and made us a top 8 NBA team. How do you get better? That’s tricky. You might easily get worse. Especially with how easy it is for guys to get injured. You trade seven good players for one, that’s a huge risk even if you end up with the most talented player. I think everyone should get their job back. Or maybe RJ and a pick for Jeremy Grant(?) No Ainge type ransoms unless it’s Giannis or Luca

There was a story about the Pelicans being frustrated with Ingram … Would they be interested in reuniting Zion and RJ? Ingram has had somewhat of a down year, but would fit nicely in our team.

I like Ingram. He has been more dynamic, scoring at all three levels, than RJ. RJ has largely stayed out of the mid range but that ability seemed to be peaking out late in the season. I don’t know. Is he the kid that’s logged major minutes and had less than average results or is he the kid that, at only 22, has major experience and is ready to put it all together. Does anyone feel confident prognosticating on that?

Ingram was very good over the final month of the season, largely carrying NO into the play-in; however, he also missed 30 straight games this year because he stubbed his toe.

All-in-all, he can be good. But even when he’s healthy, he turns the ball over a lot and is known to miss a shot or two.

Saw Spiderverse last night. A friend brought his kid. He liked Spiderman, the frenetic pace, and the bright colors, I assume. Hard to say. He decided he was a ninja and ignored our discussion of plot and color composition.

Great movie. Surpassed the first in art and animation. Didn’t think it would live up to the first. It did.

Ingram is a high-usage, decent efficiency player and isn’t a zero on defense because of his great length. He has never really been the impact defender I thought he might become earlier in his career but he holds his own on that end. He’s a free throw machine, gets to the line a lot and converts at a high rate.

I’ve always found him to be an interesting player, but he misses 20-30 games per year because of injuries. His remaining contract right now is 2/70, which… sheesh. I like him and could see him putting up a monster season if he could ever stay healthy but he’s a mixed bag.

Had fun at the Mets game, even though they lost. Saw the big apple leave the top hat four times, had a good Fuku chicken sandwich, and later some obscene, tasty tater/cheese tots. And the host of the in-stadium entertainment turned out to be a fan, and invited me and the family to come see the control room, which was cool.

    Great atmosphere. Very friendly

A 2/70 contract isn’t crazy. Jaylen Brown is about to be making ~$60M per.

Need to ask what deal Ingram will demand in 2yrs.

And you hope his defense improves with lower usage.

RJ plus a pick (plus salary to make it work?) would be a good trade. Pelicans need players who actually play in the games. Off nothing else, RJ is durable. And I’d gladly take Ingram’s production, fewer games or not.

Ingram will cost more than RJ & a pick. Maybe 2 picks. You need a 2nd guy if Ingram is your target. OG & Ingram for RJ, Obi, salary, 4-5 picks would be great, but an injury prone duo.

I have no intuitive interest in acquiring Brandon Ingram, his game doesn’t really appeal to me any more than Julius Randle’s does and he’s very fragile. Will keep an open mind though!

Not interested in Ingram. Assuming he will play defense is a foolish bet.

That was a super nice pass by Jokic

Pretty incredible watching Denver play offense that the Knicks actually had a slightly better offensive rating than the Nuggets.

I know Domingo German has had his personal issues but he pitched well today. JD Martinez just took him deep to tie the game at 1. Gave up another base hit and he’s done for the day.

    Clay Holmes is in now

    Mark Jackson is the worst

Duncan Robinson is like that character actor who comes up huge in the movie tonight

Could Mitch ever learn to throw that simple bounce pass that Bam just threw to a cutting Duncan R?

    Probably not…

    Wow

I’m just amazed the Heat are pulling away from them.

They need to keep scoring, though…

Then Jokic gets that rebound and throws a cross-court assist for a 3 to Murray. Wow.

Mitch doesn’t need to be as good as Jokic, but couldn’t he be as good as Bam? That would help us so much …

Jokic is an otherworldly player, but his histrionics and feigned outrage after every unsuccessful attempt is wearying.

I’m not even sure what I just saw… it was a 3 point game with 1 minute left in an NBA finals and there were no fouls and no timeouts. It took an elapsed real-time 1 minute. I didn’t know that was even I. The table all these years.

I think in general if you shoot 48.6% from three in a game, you’re likely to win that particular game.

Of course, with the Heat’s shooters, that’s always possible. But not a given, based on their actual season.

This result is both shocking and not shocking. It’s shocking because the Heat are the eighth seed playing a one seed on the road in a stadium that gives a big home advantage. Many people seem to expect the Heat to turn back into a pumpkin any day now. But it’s not shocking because the Heat made it out of the Eastern conference which was considered clearly the tougher conference of the two. So they should be good. And they are a hard working disciplined team that doesn’t make many mistakes. They should be hard to beat. And what did Malone just say to the press? They didn’t lose because of hot shooting, they lost because they were out worked and they made mistakes and Miami took advantage of every mistake. That could happen again.

I thought it was wild that people were dismissing Miami after one bad loss and anointing Denver as some sort of juggernaut, they are also a flawed team and Miami has shown time and time again in these playoffs that they’ll have these random games where scrubs will hit 50% of their 3s and they will win.

I’m honestly really scared the Heat will just win the finals and I hate how it seems even more possible after today. This is awful.

I don’t love Ingram. He helps the spacing but I don’t trust him him on D or more importantly with the vibes… he’d almost certainly give you more on the court than RJ next year if healthy.

Honestly, I’m tempted to just run it back next year unless some opportunity presents itself. Barring injuries, we should get a little better because most of players are at an age where getting better is likely. Even a little better would be very good. I’d be happy with very good.

I’m honestly really scared the Heat will just win the finals and I hate how it seems even more possible after today. This is awful.

I don’t get this at all. Not only does Miami’s continued success in the post-season validate the relative success of the Knicks this year, but it also illustrates that teams can win a championship even if they are not on anyone’s perceived championship win-curve. There is no downside to the Heat winning the chip for Knick fans outside of a 30 year grudge over a dumb fax machine.

The Heat are at the apex of their perceived win curve, though. It’s unexpected bc they had such a shitty regular season, but they still have two stars at their peaks.

The Heat are good. The East is good. They should give the West trouble. I agree with Donnie, it’s better for the East if the Heat are a strong team in the finals.
